At the age of 45 I am a retired Freight Relocating Specialist (Truck Driver). I had to retire due to a severe shoulder injury that happened on the job in June of last year. Have had 2 surgeries to repair but with no luck. My next surgery will be a total replacement. I am still on Work Comp but we are getting ready to settle. We are just waiting on my MMI and PPI numbers now. It will be a full settlement since the Surgeon has already declared it a Total disability. I also have a lawsuit against the first Physical Therapy Facility that I went to after my first surgery. The therapist did not read anything in my file before he worked on me. During the second session with in 5 mins he had me in so much pain that I was damn near in tears and damn near ready to break my good hand on his fore-head. he said he didn't have time to read my file. But what he did have time to do during that session was to not only re-tear everything the surgeon repaired but extend the tear and causing more damage inside of the shoulder. I now have 9 Perm Steel Anchors and screws and a 1..5 foot long steel cable sutured into the cup and bone.... So basically what I do is tinker around in my garage the best I can, play around on my laptop. Work with my Johnson American Bulldog and read... I LOVE TO READ. Right now am finishing up Team Of Rivals: The Political Genius Of Abraham Lincoln and when I am done with that I will read a Civil War book on the Battle Of Gettysburg....
So sorry to learn of your repeated injuries to your shoulder! Best of luck with your recovery. Healthcare professionals need a lot of monitoring at times. A hospital in CO killed my father due to a medication error. They actually admitted their culpability! No lawsuit, mom didn't want to keep the wound open for as long as the legal stuff would take.
Anyway, it is nice to see you here and I look forward to the occasional update on your recovery. FWI, if you haven't found Overdrive Media Console yet, it might help you with reading expenses. I don't know if you are on a limited income or you were smart and invested wisely, but you can read for free from your local library. I download about 4-6 audio books every week to keep me sane in the truck. It is all free, it is legal, no copyright infringement, just borrowing from the library. If you choose to download the print versions, it works on smart phones, kindles, computer etc. They expire in 1-3 weeks and just "poof" they are gone. Thought I would offer that to you and anyone else out there that loves to read/listen to books. I keep one on my phone at all times so I can read when I am waiting for anything. It sure frees up more money for my
vape toys!!!
PLEASE, no offense to healthcare professionals. I was one for several wonderful years. I respect and admire everyone out there. A few bad apples do not spoil the whole bunch in this case.
