During the week it would be an excuse for me push away from my desk and go outside to grab some air. Getting away from my desk and getting outside always cleared my head on bad days. Now I just bring my twist with a mini on it and do the same thing. Took me a while before I felt comfortable going out and being the brunt end of the jokes and answering 100 questions.

Outside of that absolutely nothing!

Ah, as they say in some rehab programs, "war stories". (I only know this cuz my bride was a cook for a center once, uh-huh!)
Despite the occasional craving, I honestly miss nothing whatsoever with regards to cigarettes. But my pipes are another story altogether.

Any given piece of briar I own, still haven't parted with any of em', when held in the hand offers up many aspects of a comforting nature.
Whether new or an estate piece there is a beauty to behold in the flow of lines, the intrinsic characteristics of the briar, meerschaum, or morta. The companionable warmth in the hand as that of a tried and true friend.

An estate offers up the speculation of the previous owner/s and there unique stories.

The taste and smell of a burning pipe is nothing like a cigarette.
Dependent on the blend one can be in fields of sweet grass and hay or idling on crisp waters. Resting in moss covered glades, working the corn rows or trancing in deep leather.

Ahhhhh so grand the pipe and I miss it well. So much of the briar experience that the cold metal and electronics of the PV simply can never replicate. So be it for we are well parted, the briar and I.

What I really miss are the killer smoke bubbles!

I miss absolutely nothing about smoking. Some of you are saying you miss having to go outside for a break. I don't get that. You now can go outside OPTIONALLY. I often go out to the smoking area to vape. You know what good comes out of that? Other smokers start asking questions about my setup, and a lot of them end up converting to vaping. I've effortlessly converted about 15 people so far. It's not me trying to convince anyone, they ask questions, I share my experience, and they decide to give it a try.

I've thought about the comparison of the experience too, and keep coming back to missing absolutely nothing about smoking.

For me, the vaping experience, along with all of the benefits, is a 100% comprehensive substitute for smoking.

The association with coffee, taking 'walk-away' breaks, socializing in the smoking 'lounge' (outside ;)), start of day / end of day, Pre-performance* mental prep / calming, etc etc.

* As an amateur performer (Barbershop Chorus director & quartet guy), and a professional talker / trainer / project manager, there are a lot of stress-moments. The smoke was the final act (no pun intended, but I'll take) before going on.

A few good hits on the vape are 100% the same effect as a smoke.

Health, ability to smell & TASTE (I love to eat even more now!!!) , the flavors(!) are the highlights.

I had occasion to ride in a car the other day with a smoker. Absolutely NO reaction - no urge or the slightest curiosity, no repulsion, just an idle mental observation about the familiar smell.

It's been a while (especially since I converted the other smoking Barbershoppers I hang out with :thumb: ) that I'd been that close to a burning cigarette, and wondered. Now I know those days are truly & forever in my past.

Anyone want a good deal on a batch of roll-your-own cigarettes - I have a few dozen somewhere on my workbench I'll getcha a good deal

Oh yeah, I was 43 years at 1-2 PAD, and never tried to quit, even when I did! :2cool:

Niiice, vaping's gotta be more easy on those valuable lungs huh? I know I can blow up a car tire again with my blowers, and hit that whitney houston note :p.

-Everyone keeps thinking I'm glorifying smoking, but I'm not lol, if you read my post thoroughly I basically say everything you just said. (I have to agree, I totally forgot what good lasagna tastes like after I quit, and my sweet tooth is back!) I was only smoking for 2 &1/2 years, and I quit the hard way, cccold turkey, I feel like I know myself alot better after quitting that way, I think I got rid of my addictive personality.

*However are you telling the honest truth that you go outside and social smoke as much as you used to with your vaporizer? I'll be honest if it's with complete strangers, especially a cute girl I don't want to "scare away", I hesitate and think about bringing out my baton sized RDA setup :p, and whether they'd "accept" it. If it's with friends or fellow men I could give two poops.

The only thing I "miss" is what you and others have noticed; being "forced" to drop everything to just sit peacefully and contemplate with a smoke. The stress craving is now gone from my life, but I also find that I am not taking any time out to just "be". I also am much more sensitive to the MAOI's in tobacco, and notice their absence. But not enough to subject myself to that poisonous concoction.

I'm not much of a meditating type but I might need to learn how to become one.

I honestly can't think of a single aspect of smoking that I miss. I definitely don't miss the taste of an ashtray in my mouth, or the smell of stale smoke on my clothes. I don't miss having to go outside to get my fix. I don't miss the heart palpitations I'd occasionally get at night when trying to sleep. Don't miss the wheezing, hacking, or coughing. Don't miss the diminished lung function. I got outside with my oldest son today and rode a bicycle and for the first time ever, I didn't have to deal with the searing burn in my lungs. Definitely don't miss that. I don't miss the feeling of hopelessness knowing that I wanted to quit smoking, but couldn't. I don't miss being on an outing with my family, and instead of enjoying my time doing whatever activity I was supposed to be doing with them, thinking instead of when I'd get to have my next smoke. I don't miss spending way too much of my hard-earned money on something that would eventually cause me to die a slow painful death. I don't miss worrying about whether or not I'd get to see my children grow up without getting some kind of smoking-related disease. I don't miss feeling like a hypocrite for telling my kids how terrible smoking is for my health, but then sneaking outside to have a smoke when I was done lecturing them.

I could go on, but you probably get the idea. :p

I don't miss anything about the smoking itself. I do occasionally miss the "smokers bond", tho. And being able to just take a break from whatever, joke around a little and not having to explain and/or defend my current habit. Don't get me wrong. I don't mind talking to people about it and explaining et cetera... Just not every time all the time. Not comfortable being the center of attention, I guess.

After the first 2 weeks, absolutely nothing. I had broken an 8 year 3/4 PAD habit and it took a short time to overcome the minor addictions to nornicotine and anabasine, which you aren't getting with standard e-liquid. In the middle of week 2 I was very seriously considering trying WTA juice, but instead went for increasing vapor volume to achieve my hit, and that worked very well. Goodbye Protanks, hello drippers and Kayfuns.

Like I said, I miss nothing. It wasn't cool, it wasn't healthy, it made me reek, I was eating too much and putting too much seasoning on everything because I couldn't taste, so forget it. As long as I can get e-liquid, I'll beg, steal, barter, scrape up or build everything else to avoid ever going back to cigarettes.
