We all have a good idea of what no one misses about switching from analogs to ecigs, such as smell, mess, cost, health issues, looks and comments, etc. Heck, I can even smoke in the women's bathroom again!
But is there anything you DO miss about analogs?
The #1 thing for me is how I seem to use analogs as timers. One analog is the time it takes for the pasta to cook, two for the bathtub to fill, one for nail polish to dry, etc. A mechanical or electronic timer just isn't as "fluid", for lack of a better phrase.
Fortunately, I have not had to miss smoke breaks at all, especially since I mostly work alone and unsupervised. I can still go out back and watch the crows and squirrels and stars for a few minutes here and there, analogs or not. There's no windows where I work at all, so sometimes I just need to go outside. It's not a fight my boss would likely choose anyway.
I think I would miss carrying a lighter if/when I go full ecig. I have found use for it for other than cigarettes too many times, so I might still keep one on me. It's momentary light in the dark recesses of office equipment is just too handy, or for a quick shrink wrap, etc.
My precious ashtray. I have used the same one since I started about 35 years ago, and I have some truly strange attachment to it. For now I'm using a small one to keep ecig parts handy and if/when I fully quit analogs this one will do the same job just fine.
And you?
