For me it is not only that I enjoy DIY things but also the ridiculously high prices for liquid at the local B&M and even most places online. They have a few more reasonably priced sellers online with good flavors but still a bit more costly.

What I don't get is why 30ml of something that was tossed into a tiny glass bottle yesterday is somehow worth as much a 750ml of Bourbon that sat in barrels for 8-10 years and is also put into a much larger glass bottle and labeled according to all the Regulations they are required to follow. Add to that the cost of that compliance and the taxes they pay and they still make money. Meanwhile these "Premium" juice sellers are tossing pennies worth of raw materials together and marking it up astronomically with no regulations or special taxation on their industry. And just for the record I have tried all these high end juices and so far I have liked a grand total of 1 of them  Perhaps my palate isn't refined enough for such high brow juices. Either that or my mind and my pocketbook get together and say we can do this our selves much cheaper!

I saw some juices the other day IIRC they want close to $2 per ml, special reserve they say! Not dogging anyone that enjoys these juices and doesn't mind paying that asking price. Just confuses me as to what makes it so expensive considering what it requires to manufacture and the lack of any regulatory costs.

Would you buy a bottle of Bourbon for $750 to $1000+ dollars? :vapor:

So what got you into this hobby besides you vape and you need juice!

Primary reason was fear of regulation so I bought a 5 year insurance policy and froze it. Secondary reason (and a close second) was the same reason I cook 98% of what I eat. I know exactly what I'm ingesting and make it exactly the way I like it. Takes practice just like cooking but once you nail a few recipes, it's easy street. I've only ordered premix once in the last 8 months to see if I was really missing anything special. Nope. I still have some of that premix sitting around. I may never go back to it.

I want to be self sufficient. The time to learn what you need is now. Saving money is great as well as having the satisfaction of knowing you are protected in the future. This not only applies to vaping. I make all my own bread/foods from scratch as well as cleaning supplies even laundry detergent. Before long they will try to control what you see on the internet. People must wake up to what is happening.

I got into DIY, because when my juice got low, I freaked. :D Now I have enough juice that will last for years. I still order lots of flavorings though. It's a fun hobby. Heck, everything about vaping is fun. :)

Here here, Jimi! Agreed on all accounts :)

It was not fun anticipating when I was going to run out of juice, and it just hurt to pay $30 for 50ml, so I never stocked up. I never got burned by a bad juice, so that was good, but it was still not a good situation.

I also like the renaissance aspect of being a jack of all trades. Builds coils, make juice, do everything you can to learn as much as you can.

I'd been sort of considering it for most of the reasons above. And I still want to make an extraction of home roasted Sumatran coffee. But what pushed me into actually getting started was the fact that I can't open child resistant bottles.

With almost all of the commercial places going to child resistant only (I can see the reasons, but I sure wish there was an option) I had to either start making my own in bottles that I can use or have to have someone come over and decant them for me. I get my nicotine repackaged into smaller bottles that I can handle (YAY MFS) and mix by weight, so it's easier to make my own than to buy it.

Last year when I started we never had a B&M so I had to order juice online. The price the wait and never really knowing what I would get, started me thinking there must be a better way. There is :) DIY for the cost of a few ounces of store bought juice I got my start. A year later I have tons of flavouring and make my own great juices :) Anyone even thinking of getting into DIY don't hesitate.

I had one juice that I absolutely loved... it went out of stock and I was never able to find anything else that I liked as much. When they finally got it back in stock, it wasn't anything at all like it was originally... after that, it was the constant fretting when I got low and losing about $100 in juice to USPS incompetence...

make it myself now and have never been more satisfied... and richer for it

1: im a cheapo, spending 10$ on 10mls is just as expensive as cigarettes in my area.
2: i know what flavor is in my mixes - no more guessing what that "mystery note" is in some juices.
3: very simple to start - and with my current line of recipies/equiptment, its even easier - just pour and go, no need to measure anything with syringes or the like.
