Does anyone really go around calling themselves "advanced vapers," or is this just a rant about how the vendor pages all have warnings that lithium batteries, mechanical mods, and rebuildable atomizers are for "advanced users only"? All that is is a heads-up that there are dangers associated with these devices and you need to take it upon yourself to become educated in their proper use before jumping in at the deep end, so you don't end up as a statistic on the evening news. It's not about elitism at all, it's about keeping people safe and, really, it's about the vendors keeping their own behinds covered so they can't be sued by some idjit who says "well you never told me that microwaving the battery could be hazardous!"

An advanced vaper is someone who understands the gear they are using, as well as the dangers and risks associated with it.

Some people feel insulted, and think they are advanced vapers, use gear improperly and end up injured and on the news.
And I'm insulted that someone could be insulted because I'm not uninformed, stupid or dangerous.

I think.

Maybe I'm not advanced enough to be sure of that as my previous experiment suggests.

An advanced vaper (to me) is someone who builds their own coils, possibly uses unregulated devices, mech mods, etc. It takes a certain level of knowledge to use these devices safely. I wouldn't have been able to do this when I began.

If you prefer to describe these individuals as "experienced", so be it.

What advanced is not:-
It's not about using Claptons/ Alien coils/ other fancy builds.

It doesn't mean someone who vapes at high wattages/ low ohms. (Ever heard of a kayfun? ;))

It doesn't mean they own all the latest gear.

Nor does it give them the "right" to look down on others - we were all beginners once upon a time.
Yes,, we were all n0ob once upon a time..

Sad thing is most advanced gear like mechanical mods are primitive electonics. Old school fashlight tech.
Basic battery safety for mechanical mods requires about 15 minutes of research.
If you cant look at a mech and understand how it works, you arent ready to use one.

An advanced vapor is someone who can do more, with less..
..............maybe............I do more with less out of necessity. ;)

At 62, I still attempt to learn something new every day. It may or may not improve my life, but I am always hopeful.

If one must know it all, I will never be Advanced.
If one must be willing to become enlightened, I may stand a chance.:)

I see your point, but I just feel the word advanced is overstating the status of people who have just clocked up some time vaping. And in doing so, automatically belittles people who are just starting. I have been vaping for almost 4 years now. Longer than many here. I have experience with many devices that are no longer made, and with good reason.

I am not more advanced, because I don't think I am doing anything differently to what I would be doing if I started 6 months ago. I have not 'advanced'. I just found something that works and I have stuck with it for a while, occasionally trying something new if it takes my fancy.

I read some stuff, tried some stuff, made some mistakes, learned from them. I am a reasonably experienced vaper. But I dont feel the need to wear a badge of have a title.

I am definitely not advanced.

As for pushing battery safety to the limit, I dont know if that is advisable, but each to their own. An 'advanced vaper' might think they are sure what is safe, but graveyards are littered with advanced drivers who were equally sure.

I just feel that the terminology is patronising and alienating really. That was my main point. And if we want to save millions of lives, then that is the last impression we need to convey.
reminded me of a little rhyme:
Here lies the body of John Grey,
who died defending his right of way,
yes he was right!, but not for long,
for now he's just as dead as wrong!

Advanced vaper in a society where everybody gets a trophy, pretty special title if you ask me   Advanced from what?
