Written by a Japanese author in 1977. Translated into American/English in 1993...

If, as an English speaker, you have had no need to potty train a toddler or endlessly answer a child's questions after the date the book was published; why on earth would you be familiar with it? o_O

I rest my case.
Lol.
Its not an obscure reference.

Well how hard was it to light a cig, because that is the only skill needed to be a smoker

And you are only an idiot that doesn't know Ohm's law IF you are using a mech mod and don't know Ohm's law.

It isn't like playing the piano, spending 12,000 hours vaping isn't going to make you any better than someone that started a month ago. If you are a quick learner, you can get the basics covered in days and be comfortable enough to get a more advanced setup a week or two. Or you can just stick to the basics and still get a satisfying enough vape to not have to smoke.

On the internet it is easy to deal with dbags, just ignore them...but in real life, it is just as easy, just ignore them :)

Or, as some would have it, an advanced 'vapor'?

It seems to be a phrase used here to mean 'me and other cool people like me, unlike all those idiots who don't understand ohm's law/battery safety/mechanical mods, and who don't know how to wrap Clapton wire whole standing on one leg '.

Nobody ever spoke about 'advanced smokers' (or advanced smokors). There are kids making videos proclaiming themselves as experts after just a few months' vaping. There seems to be a certain cachet with pretending to know more than everybody else.

We should all stop looking down on people who have just started vaping (patronisingly calling them 'noobs' helps no one).

I guess I am going to start backwards and address the noobs. All of us are/were noobs when it comes to an endeavor so I don't see it as looking down on or patronizing someone. A few years ago, I started learning how to take apart my air rifles so I could change the seals and adjust the power. I was an utter noob and had to ping a message board about it at various stages along the way to make sure I did it right. I had no trouble admitting my noobieness and really don't experience new people here having a problem with it (with very rare exception). That's why they come here, to learn! I actually find it more offensive (Not in the popular sense of being offended as of late where the offended person makes its it their business to let everyone know they are offended and that the world should really change to meet their needs because their overly developed sense of self privilege and entitlement tells them that the world should reassure and cottle them and never ever hurt their feelings. No, I mean the old school meaning of finding something offensive in that it bugs me but I am not going to do anything about it.). Given my old school mentality, I know I am not going to change them from trying to blow smoke up other peoples @sses so I take their comments with a grain of salt unless I decide to toy with them like the turd I occasionally am. The reason you didn't hear about advanced smokers is that their was no learning curve beyond learning to actually not cough and choke when you first smoked. There was no risk of you cigarette blowing up and sending you to the hospital (A smoker usually had to wait years for cigarettes to send them to the hospital) unless they were one of those imbeciles who thought "You know, this cigarette is so good, I'm going to enjoy it while I refuel my car." I vape mechanicals, have little understanding of ohm's law and don't make Claptons. I make high ohm coils, double check them on a meter, make sure there isn't a short, know the throw of the device is safe and don't use hybrids. When I have a question beyond that, I ping one of the geniuses here to answer my question. There are some brilliant people on this board and I am grateful they are here happy to help the people like me who, frankly, are lucky to walk up right.

Yeah better. just to clear it up, I posted because i saw a specific example here of people puffing themselves up as something special. It was just a reaction to that. not important really, but I think it started an interesting discussion, nonetheless.

I can respect that, I've seen it a time or two myself, but not as often anymore.
I say "I walked away" because I didn't want to take you wrong and come in like a bull in a china closet with my reply. I was trying to think of all the ways someone could come off wrong on this forum. Well, there's a lot of them that I thought of!
As for the warnings on vendors sites, I honestly can't see that it does any good. Anymore every Tom, Dick and Marry watches some idjit on Youtube and the light bulb goes off "Well, I can do that!" But they don't understand battery safety, or limits, have no understanding of how much power they need, or the fact that the battery in their new mod is equivalent to 1/4 stick of dynamite in the WRONG conditions, then ..... to the news when things go sideways! I see it more as a CYA attempt, "Hey, if you buy this, don't know what you are doing and blow yourself half up, it's not on us!"
I've got a buddy that's a shining example of this to an extent. Been vaping a little over two years now, works in a vape shop. I got him started on this to quit smoking but he got into cloud chasing. He's got some crazy mods, a Noisy cricket, a dual 26650 mech, just nuts crazy stuff. He kinda gets the batteries limitations, but I honestly don't think he's ever built one of his own coils! He has someone in the shop do all of his builds for him, then just blows clouds. I figure you want to brag about it, you should put in the work? I dunno, just makes me laugh sometimes.

An advanced vaper is one who realizes that vaping is vaping in any form.
I don't care is you have a spec ego and clearomizer or a I vape 4000(?)
Use them if you got them. Everywhere.
Look out gramma's and all you little cherub's in those baby carriages.
We are coming. Vape on.Vape often. Vape everywhere.
We'll sort out all the people that haven't been harmed later.
:2c:

Mike

I've been vaping a while, quite happy vaping Ego One and AIO never made my owl coil before. Does this mean I'm not advanced enough?
You are a veteran vaper who isn't that interested in the hobbyist aspect ( at least when it comes to hardware ). And you are clearly in the majority, when it comes to vapers overall. In this forum, perhaps not.

When vapers start messing with hobbyist equipment without educating themselves first, bad things are more likely to happen. Unfortunately, sometimes they are pointed in that direction unknowingly.

Advanced vaper, is a bit of a silly term.

Ask some of those newer "advanced" folks if they know how to properly punch and prime a cartomizer for a cartotank...or do a taryn spin...or the proper use of blue foam...or can disassemble and rebuild a CE2...can rebuild a top coil vivi nova or single coil protank.

Some of us aren't really advanced...we're just old with a lot of useless knowledge. But we know the ropes.
Very good answer! I can relate!
