I quit smoking cigarettes in May. Then I was smoking hookah to satisfy the habit, and still smoking black and milds when I was out and unable to use the hookah.

One night at a club when my friends cousin was smoking a cigarette and I was smoking a black and mild, I was talking about how and why I quit. A friend of the cousin told me to try a disposable electronic cigarette. I was convinced and found cig2o disposable. Used two of those and found it was a decent alternative, I hoped online for e cig reviews.

Landed on v2 and bought a kit. Finding that I was going through the cartomizers way too quick, I bought a refill. The worker there suggested to me to go to a local e cig supplier. Went there and tried flavors other than menthol, I became hooked.

He advised an ego kit which I avoided for a few weeks, but eventually I got tired of the short battery life I gave in and bought the ego.

After 3 months I tried am analog cigarette and hit disgusted.

Never looked back! :)

I hang my head in shame here since this is a big deal for me (please don't judge me as I will always be judging myself on this).

I smoked before I conceived with my son and tried desperately all through my pregnancy (although I did cut right back), when he was born he was diagnosed with a heart condition coupled with cystic fibrosis, we know there was nothing we could have done to prevent the CF as we didn't know we were carriers, there hasn't been any known cases in our families but I will always carry the guilt and shame that I may (this cannot be confirmed) have contributed to his heart problem. It was actually one of his consultants that pointed me in the vaping direction and for that I am eternally grateful, I just wish someone could have helped me earlier.

My son is my inspiration that keeps me going with it, I have his name tattooed on my wrist so I always see it and always know I'm a good mum and doing this to be even better for him.

For myself I always made it a point to not smoke around my family or at home in general. I would only smoke if I was on the road or at work. My wife and I would get into it from time to time as she wanted me to quit or well has wanted for a couple of years now.

For at least a year now I've been wanting to quit but I just couldn't do it. I've been able to quit drugs and quit alcohol however quitting cigarettes was not an easy feat for myself. Currently I have been drug free for almost 12 years and alcohol free for 8 years. During the time I stopped drinking I started smoking again and continued to do so up until a few weeks ago.

Now just like alcohol I quit smoking because of my oldest child. He was my motivation in realizing that I was like my family with alcohol (nearly every male member in my family has an addiction to alcohol). About 7-8 weeks ago he (age 8) told me he dislikes the smell of cigarettes and then asked me why I always smelt like them when I got home from work. It's funny but that one little question was enough for me to finally decide it was time to give e-cigs a try.

Nearly two months later I can say I am happy with myself for once now that I've stopped cigarettes and have moved on to e-cigs. I also have to give a bit of credit to this site as well for showing me a world I was unaware of. I am now completely satisfied with my setup which I never would have gotten or known about had it not been for this forum. Currently I am using a kgo with a vivi nova tank along with getting my juice from mtbakervapor.com which in my opinion is top notch. Price wise and selection there is simply amazing. :)

Saved up for 4 years to get long awaited weight loss surgery, first visit with my surgeon he told me he would not attempt it until I quit smoking, tried Blu and kept smoking (double the money), then tried vaping last month. Bought a Chrome Lavatube and Cinnabon e-juice, the rest is history! Been analog free for 29 days! I've since purchased several liquids and accessories, but what can I say, its my newest hobby and I'm bettering my health! Happy Vaping!

I started smoking off and on during after-school workouts at the Muay Thai gym I trained at. I was 16 and stupid, but I saw these Thai champion fighters who smoked and had endurance way beyond what I thought possible, so I actually started smoking thinking it would make me stronger. After that, I was always saying things like "I haven't been smoking that long" and always buying one pack at a time. Something about buying a carton, even after all these years; THAT would make me a smoker, so I never did it. The things your mind lies to you about to justify absurd notions! About the same time I also began chewing tobacco, which was really disgusting and made me sick to my stomach. Yet I continued on, because these things would make me "tough".

I was up to smoking a pack of Newport 100's a day. Before one field op, I actually bought 15 individual packs. Because, as you know, I couldn't buy a carton  I successfully quit around 2000 or so, and it lasted until mid-2002. I was prescribed Buproprion and did some on-base smoking cessation classes, and it worked! Being constantly surrounded by tobacco in the military is very difficult if you're trying to quit; there are so many allocations given to smokers and chewers that it was a matter of time before anyone who had quit threw in the towel. After all, the joke goes, "nobody likes a quitter". Haw haw.

I was smoking a pack a day of Swisher Sweet Little Cigars in the "Strawberry" flavor from about 2005 on. Those are just brown cigarettes, with a different tax code (read: cheaper) and probably just as bad if not worse than any other tobacco product. I tried the Veteran's Administration once I got out, and went through a routine I knew had worked before (21mg/14mg patches and Bupropion). Only I didn't stay "quit". My "quit" times totaled maybe 18 to 24 months out of the last 17 years, so I wasn't doing good with other treatments. I even tried the state program to quit (patches and gum this time) and again, I failed. My wife hated the way I smelled, my kids kept saying they couldn't stand to have me hug them-so I tried to "solve" it by washing my hands up to my elbows and carrying mints, chewing gum, and cologne.

Then one day a few months ago I was in 7-11 and I saw a display for "NJoy". For about the same price as a pack of my Newports, the signage said I was getting over two packs worth of nicotine. Well, why not, I thought? I bought the highest nicotine rating in menthol (1.8%) and was instantly amazed at how cool it was! It looked like a cigarette, had a glowing "ember" on the end that lit up when you inhaled, and actually felt like I was smoking a cigarette!

That first week I was still smoking my Swishers, and when the battery died on my first NJoy, I went back and bought another. I used it at my desk at work, and thought it would be cool to have when I didn't have time to go outside for a proper smoke break. When the second NJoy died, I was actually at a local liquer store when I saw they had a e-cig "kit" for sale. I think the brand was "Majestic" or something, and the price seemed ok. I picked it up, took it home, and less than 24 hours later the end of the battery melted in a puff of acrid smoke and melting electronics.

Undaunted, I went to my local Circle K to see about their selections. At this point I was still smoking, but I noticed that I literally cut my usage in half. I was on to something, and I didn't want to mess up another chance to quit. I picked up a disposable menthol by "FIN", and even though it was a few dollars more than the NJoy, it tasted much better. The end of this e-cig even glowed white! Thus making it easier to explain away as an e-cig than the NJoy, as the NJoy looked a little too real to some people at work.

After one disposable FIN, I bought their "kit". Which I shouldn't have done, because even though it was the best-tasting so far, there was only one battery. The refill box was a little steep, too, but my cigarette usage had disappeared completely! Then, the first of many FIN battery failures happened: one battery went up in smoke while charging on the USB cable, the second arrived by FedEx (they had great customer service, I'll give them that) and then the atomizer broke. Then the third one's atomizer got stuck in a refill cartridge. Then the backup battery I purchased simply stopped charging after a couple days. I had to give up on FIN, and I switched to the other one of Circle K's offerings: 21st Century.

Now, I still have my 21C kit. I have three batteries, two chargers, and probably about a half dozen menthol cartomizers. I was reluctant about going into the "serious" e-cigs as I simply didn't know where to start. The readings I did were confusing; sure I could get a "kit", but the prices were over double what I would have paid for a new kit from the convenience store! What if I got the wrong kit? What if it didn't work like the FIN, where I enjoyed it but the hardware simply kept failing?

I was scheduled for surgery in July, as I was hit by a drunk driver over Memorial Day weekend. I used the time I spent off work reading, and reading, and reading some more. I finally came to the conclusion that I would get an eGo-T starter kit, keep my initial orders to local companies, and if everything worked out I would go from there. It's been about six weeks now, and I simply love it!

I only wish I hadn't have taken such a long time finding out about these "serious" e-cigs and vaporizers. I wasted a lot of money before I ordered my eGo-T, and I'd hate to see anyone else missing out on the opportunity to quit smoking. Not just quitting, but even enjoying what I call my new "hobby"!

Ive decided to change my WHOLE life for the better. i started on a diet to shed all the extra weight ( ~ 50lbs down so far.). then I started weight lifting again. naturally getting active and eating better made a huge difference but the biggest health risk remained.. cigarettes. i have been smoking for about 5 years and as an asthmatic it reigned hell on my respritory system.

Im in the process of stepping into my career as a Correctional Officer. in order to pass the physical tests my ability to run would need some SERIOUS work. i almost quit cold turkey, but continued to cave in to temptations. ( I live in a house with 5 analog smokers, one of which is my GF.) i started to lose faith and put quitting to the wayside. thats why i decided to try a different method.

so far i love vaping, and i feel much better. i just hope the department of corrections can accept vaping as different than smoking and allow me to continue. Even if they force me to quit vaping at least ill have a better shot of passing the PT/BT.

A couple of years ago my husband(an ex smoker)came home from the office spouting this new e-cig thing a friend of his was using right at his desk. He thought I might like to give it a shot since I had not been able to stay off the stinky cigarettes.
So I hit the web and found myself here at ecf. I researched for a few days, ordered a 510 kit, and started vaping.
I have had a few lapses along the way, mostly when I ran into a glitch(ran out of something)or got frustrated when my nic level was too low. But once I managed the learning curve I was hooked.
The best part is all the new toys that come out regularly. I love playing with new toys, and my husband (the techy) finds the whole thing as amusing as I do. :)

I tried the blu cig a could of years ago, and wanted options for more flavors - so I dripped in the cartridges some DFW flavors. It was messy, and I wound up with the occasional drip or drop of ejuice in my mouth. Yuckity.

About 3-4 weeks ago, I was out on a smoke break with some new co-workers and they started talking about their ecigs, mods, juice, etc. I thought I would give it a whirl again... and I bought myself an ego-c system, some prepped ejuice, and then started into DIY and have purchased WAAAAYYYYY too many flavors now.

I am still smoking the occasional analog, but their number has been reduced VERY significantly. I have already noticed a major decrease in that oh so lovely morning cough. :)

I started because I know smoking is bad for my health. Simple as that. I know vaping with a nicotine-based e-liquid, which is what I do, is not optimal. I'm still getting nicotine in my system, and nicotine isn't good for the heart or central nervous system. However, vaping is less unhealthy than smoking, so it's a middle ground for me before I quit. I had stopped smoking for 20 years, started again during a difficult project (I manage IT projects, and this one was a gigantic pain in the .... with lots of drama), and decided to move to e-cigs as a form of damage control. I used nicotine gum the first time I quit, but it's hard on the teeth. Vaping is better. I also enjoy the wide variety of flavored e-liquids available. I'm a happy vaper for now. I plan to quit entirely, or switch to a non-nicotine-based e-liquid, in a few months.

I've tried multiple times to quit since my son was born 12 years ago, the longest being 7.5 months last year. I just had a strong premonition that smoking would be the thing to get me in the end and I thought it was selfish of me to do that to my son. I have friends with ill parents on oxygen and dying from smoking and COPD, my aunt just died of lung cancer, I see people wheeling around oxygen tanks everywhere I go, and I didn't feel well myself. Then money got tight last year from no raises and the economy and other things and it was just time. Similar to another poster I too am trying to make life changes. I'm 1.5 years into a 5 year goal of completing certain changes in my life. Smoking was tops on my list. I first really heard about them on another forum. Then my son's Dad let me try his gas station brand (it made me cough horribly). And I just chalked it up to nothing worth researching. And less than a month ago when my aunt died, I said to myself I've got to quit again. Eversmoke was ordered and sent back and in the meantime I came here and realized I needed to get something different, and now my credit card is the only thing smoking. But today marks 16 days of being smoke free (15 days for my Mom) and I think I can mark that goal off the list. I have no desire to smoke a cigarette. None.

I guess I'm a bit weird, but I originally started vaping as a way to quit chewing tobacco. I bought my first kit from e-Smokey Treats (a 901 kit) and then bought a couple of pen-styles from China. I quit using them for a couple of years, and then just started vaping again when a friend asked me if I still had my old e-cigs. I dug them up, then went to a local vapor shop for parts and ended up trying several juices at the shop.

Long story short, gave my friend the pen-style, and ordered a Ego-T kit from Phil.

My aunt quit smoking analogs a few months ago and was telling us all about her e cigs and how they (she and my uncle) werent even craving the real thing anymore. Over the fourth of july holiday we had gone over for a cookout, when she handed me a mistic to try. Didnt seem bad, however wasnt motivation at the time to quit. She then found the mall kiosk, bought an ego type cig, and fell in love. We went over again to swim, and she had us trying all of her flavors. She even gave hubby one to borrow for the night. He hasnt had a real cig since, and I have only had a few in the three days following that night. That was on friday night, we talked, decided to give it an honest effort. She took us to the mall the next day and we spent 300 dollars getting started. Im really not complaining about what we spent (drastic overpayment) but with in 2 days of buying our ecigs, I couldnt stand the taste or smell of the real thing and lit my last cig on aug 8. Lit up and then threw it out because it was downright gross. Bought ego 1300s the following pay day, and just yesterday ordered 2 twists.

I cant thank my aunt enough for talking them up like she did, because that sparked an encouragement for the boys to talk mom and dad out of the nasties, and here we are, going on 3 weeks smoke free!!!!!!!
