Dual using you run the risk of being addicted to both. I was a dual user for a long time because the equipment at the time didn't deliver enough nicotine. Today there is no need with what is available you can make the switch in a day with minor withdrawal. vaping will make quitting smoking easier, but remember you are switching one habit for another.

Dual use is when you wake up in the morning and really want the ciggie... you have one or a part of one and then vape to finish off... or you have a ciggie when you get stressed, after eating, etc... but vape as often as you can when the light urges hit...
the idea is to eventually go from ciggies to vape over an extended time period by replacing the habit of smoking with vaping.

Some people "dual use". Which means they are vaping AND smoking a few cigarettes still. Some people never dual use, others might for only a week or two and some longer. It refers to that time just after beginning to vape and just before giving up cigarettes in their entirety.

Everyone has a different experience, and some people have a more difficult time giving up that last cigarette or two for a while - such as the morning cigarette.

We are all so different but most of us have the same goal of putting the smoke habit behind us so we each have to find the way that works. I was one of the fortunate ones that was able to immediately switch from smoking to vaping. Others (my hubby for example) hasn't make a total switch and both smokes and vapes (dual use) but has cut his smoke consumption from 2 1/2-to 3 packs a day down to about 1/2 pack. For him that is a win.

Wishing you good luck on your journey to a smoke free life if that is your goal.

I'd gotten down to 1/2 PAD of smokes (from 1 - 1.5 PAD for 42 years)...when I decided to try vaping to quit smoking. I still smoked while vaping for almost 2 months, by slowly lowering the number of cigarettes I smoked, as I increased my vaping. It was a method that worked for me personally, and I've had no desire at all for a cigarette, not even once...since I had my last one nearly 4 years ago.

There are many different methods of switching over, time periods for doing it, vaping set-ups and nic levels used while switching, etc., that have worked for other people. However, what works for you may be entirely different than those...and that's perfectly fine!

Hi,all. I am a new comer and have little knowledge on e-cig. when i questioned in ECF whether vaping will work to help to quit smoking, some friends answer me to try Dual Use. i wonder what it means, cigarette and e-cigarette alternates? I do love this forum, friendly so much.

The more you vape, the less you smoke. Eventually, when you find your vaping bliss (the right combination of hardware and eliquids), you may forget to smoke.:)

Welcome and good luck!

Does it mean that vaping will be addictive, switching from smoking to vaping, from cigarette to e-cig?

True. You body is really deprived of nicotine when you first wake up. Some people have a tank with higher concentration nicotine just for the morning use. Maybe it will help you. Maybe not. My advice is always not to force it. Just vape and enjoy.

Anecdotally, vaping is not nearly as addictive as smoking (if at all). Not even close. I can go for hours without vaping--never could do it when I was a full-time smoker.

I did the same, took me about six weeks. 2 things that really helped me was this site recommending not to count the cigs I smoked but to count the ones I didn't, and I gave myself permission to smoke whenever I wanted, haven't picked one up on close to four years.
Did you win with no help of vaping or other switch or alternate? How? unimaginable.
