Well last week I asked the question if an Ego C was a worthwhile investment. I was assured that such a choice was not indicative of any mental aberration on my part by the gentle members of this forum.

Saturday afternoon I bit the bullet and ordered one from cignot, I had read that Vicky is fast at dispatching those that related that were not fibbing ! I recieve the device tomorrow morning.

Of course I ordered a bunch of juice, alas noob point 1. I didn't order some from cignot so it looks as if it will be a further 24 hours before I get juice and device together.

So since there is an obvious "learning curve" I am about to go through I thought I would like fair warning of Noob errors I am about to make.

Of course I reserve the right to completely ignore your warnings and find you were completely correct

You will not fully punch the tank on the atty spike and wonder why your atty isn't producing vapor.

You will vape the first few times on the mechanical fluid that the attys are shipped in (within the blister pack) and question why you did this.

You will vape too long on one tank and get a bad plastic taste. You will then post here not knowing why this is before changing your atty or your tank, only to have us tell you to change atty or tank and see. You will change both,, not seeing any significant problem with the tank or the atty, but it will fix the problem ;)

I have the Ego-C, I use the LR attys, I suggest using a high PG juice, VG juices will total attys in hours.

Get some 510 cartomizers, Boge LR's are great and work wonders. There will be times where you just want to throw the tank system out the window, and the Carts are for those times.

Try lots of juices.

Go ahead and try cleaning your attys, best of luck to you. I mean that with all sincerity, because I have had 0 luck cleaning them, and hopefully you will ;)

You will wonder is this all worth it? while missing the "ease" of smoking. Don't fool yourself, cigarettes kill.

You will spend almost as much money on vaping as you did cigarettes and think vaping is sooooo expensive.

You will want vaping to taste like an analog. It can't, one is burning dead leaves, the other is a vapor.

You will begin to compare your experience to those that you have read about on here and feel like vaping might not be for "you".

Then again, you might not do any of the above, but those are a few things I have read people write on here when they are making mistakes as a noob.

Or, you could push through and become a Vaping Vet in no time at all. :2cool:

Good luck!

I'm not trying to be a spoilsport or a wet blanket or (insert idiom here), but jumping on to e vaping bandwagon by buying a PV w/o in-depth reading reviews and research will ensure tt u'll be thinking abt tt next PV tt u could've ordered instead of e one u've got and u'll end up convincing yrself tt u shld get THAT one as a backup. And e vicious cycle will go on and on. U'll get hit by a CC bill smack in e face at e end of e month but u get back up, dust urself off and try again.. N no, dun order juices by e gallon! U won't vape tt juice forever if it's a yucky vape.. N again, tell urself not to go around looking for tt "closest to tobacco" taste. It won't happen... No marl, camels, nothing!! N now, i've two shipments tt are on e way tt i wished i hadn't purchase in e 1st place. .... happens...

You will wonder why you waited so long to try ecigs. You will be amazed at how easy it was to quit, and how satisfied you are with ecigs. You will get backups for your backups. You will finally find what works for you and begin to reap the health and financial benefits when you decide that simple and fuss free things are the best. All these are good things you will encounter on your vaping journey.....LOL

All sage and sound advice to date, thanking you all.

Have a confession to make....the day I decided to order I went to a local'ish flea market and found 2 E-Cig vendors. The first store had minimal stock but the guy who ran it was awesome and in a second of my showing an interest had a Ego T waiting for me to try.

I was ready to be underwhelmed. Part of me was wanting to be underwhelmed but the other part that has been reading this forum avidly for the last week was ready to go !

I am a pack a day + light's 100 smoker, no particular brand loyalty due to spiralling costs. UK readers please don't laugh as I know the $4 odd a pack doesn't come close to the costs over there. Anyway here we go.

First thing that struck me was the clear tobacco with a hint of vanilla flavour. Then rasping coughing fit ! I had discovered throat hit. The gentleman had given me 24mg nic.

Ok lesson learnt thought I and started to smok.... vape. The flavour was amazing. I think I took about 5 drags in total and did something I have never ever done with a cig. Put it down. While I would have liked to have continued enjoying the flavour I didn't need to as I had very much had my nic fix.

His last Ego T was sold when I was standing there otherwise I would have bought it. I thanked him, well would have been rude not to, and drove home and ordered the Ego C.

I think it was 2 hours later that I looked down at my hand to find I a lit another cig. Apart from plane flights I don't think I have ever gone 2 hours without a cig since I started 30 odd years ago. Well apart from the fantastic Air Egypt that still allowed smoking last time I flew with them, I was their loyal customer lol

This will be my second attempt at quitting. The first was ended by my mother when after 3 days she lit a cig and ordered me to smoke it as I devastated the whole household with unending vitriol over one Xmas.

Not saying I am going to cut smoking out completely however I have rationalised that this is a viable alternative to getting the nicotine I am so obviously addicted to. Now to see how that rationalisation works out.

Keep those noob mistakes coming as I guarantee I will probably walk into most of them but at least someone who reads this may not !

The first mistakes I made mind you I am only a week into this is not having anough juice around. I was lucky and had a friend that had a bunch of smaples he gave me so now I have so many flavors to try and once I narrow it down to 2 or 3 I am going to order some right away so that I some around. I am sure most if not all vets have boat loads of juice around and never run out of their favorties.

Not sure if this will apply but this was what happened for me. I have shared this before, but will do so again. I got lucky as a friend got me started with a spare ego kit he had. Nothing fancy just a cartridge and a lr atomizer to try dripping. I was hooked immediately. Luckily my first pull he had a glass of water ready for me, it seems the throat may be used to smoke but not to vapor for the first couple of pulls.
My observations:

I quite cigs totally 2 days later as it messed with the flavor and it just did not do it for me anymore. You will quite entirely when you are ready, this is not the same for everyone.

Realize that everything people suggest on here may seem like an isolated idea and it will not be the same for you, it will be the same and you will realize it afterwards.

It is possible eventually the simplicity of the ego c will not cut it for you any longer and you will start to look into a batery mod.

Initial cost could be high,as you have to experiment and find what works for you. After a few months or more you will find juices and suppliers you like and have an idea about what you like and how you like to vape, this is when cost will even out or lower. My first 4 months I was spending 300 or more a month on juices, atomizers and parts, just figuring out what worked for me the best. I now spend around 50 bucks a month, unless it is a month I need to buy atomizers then it goes up 40 bucks, that is every 3 months.

This is a big one, you will have good vaping days and bad vaping days, don't get discouraged. Some days it seems nothing is going right with vaping, juice tastes empty, batteries are not working, atomizers are suddenly burnt out or no longer producing vapor... you just have to vape through it,try a flavor that is strong and minty or different, try to drink more water, what ever. Just realize, there are those days. with time you will get used to handle those road bump days.

Drink lots of water.

Always have a back up.

Don't feel afraid to ask questions, we are here to help.

You might decide to try modding, making a mod yourself. Its great fun.

So that is my long list, sorry for my lack of brevity.

Lack of brevity is one of my failings.

I came across a few threads relating to the stages of a Noob and decision making. I had reached the last one where I was just confused. I was looking at mods, lavatubes and everything in between.

Suffice to say that I have no doubt I will follow the path of most on here and be fully modded up within a few weeks.

I asked if the Ego C was worth a try. Just as an aside I now have said beasty sitting in my kitchen.

Anyways I was told yep go for it really.

Now between you and me I think that most of us noobs, note no longer pre noob as I have one OK haven't used it yet but ownership in 9/10ths of the law, have tendency to go with advertising and Joye must do a good job of that. I say that as I was captured as are most it seems. Also of note as a result the vast majority of noob posts are regarding various Ego products and people such as your kind self must, to be honest get bored of replying to the same questions.

I have actively admin'd websites, now not so actively, so am familiar with the noob to more experienced person cycle. For example on the sites I play with are fishing based. So a noob question is what rod, line, hook etc. Here it is type of e-cig and e juice etc. In fishing as in e cigs the brands oddly matter. I know that no matter what fishing tackle I recommend the noob is going to go for the most popular I think under the theory that well it works ! I will point out that there are better alternatives but the noob will only start investigating that once he/she has proven that what the have works but lack that little something.

Here is the funny thing....I have written the above before to the mods of the site to try and cut back on snippy comments on repeat posts on the same topic many years ago and.......I still did it myself.

But I guess that shows a newbie is a newbie given a different topic area.

Whoops forgot my point.

The point is that that you kind people know that it is better to start someone on this path and to discover this stuff out themselves and try and guide than to say anything that gives them pause for thought and maybe just maybe not starting.

I visit lots of different forums a day dealing with anything from fishing to birdwatching to Android phones to Arsenal Football Club to.... well lots and to date this one HAS to be the most thoughtful one I have ever had the pleasure of coming across.

Thank you is not enough.

Other than what's posted, you will constantly be frustrated by long delivery times. Once day, you will look at the first forum page here on ECF (click Forum and go to the bottom part of the page) and discover that their are vendors in your state that can ship the same day you order and USPS will drop it in your mailbox the next day!

There's lots of good reasons to look around for vendors who are close by your area.
