Cigars were exempted (other than the small ones), but I think that had more to do with the politicians it would have impacted. First things first though, getting past the FDA. Also, remember it's still only potentially approval for SM. The rest would also need to do the hoop dance.

The final decision is not being made today as this is only a vote by the advisory gang. The FDA will make the final decision sometime in the next year. The advisory vote is important though, its just not the finale word.

Cigars and pipe tobacco are not covered under the PACT act as the law only covers cigarettes and smokeless tobacco. That really has nothing to do with the FDA. In order for cigars, pipe tobacco and electronic cigarettes to be under the PACT act congress would have to rewrite the law to include them.

For all who are interested, I ran into Tropical Bob on the CASAA Facebook page, though he goes under his real name. There is a discussion about the snus modified risk statues.

A more detailed article- http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/843011

"Thomas E. Eissenberg, PhD, codirector of the Center for the Study of Tobacco Products, at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, said that the evidence was insufficient. And he said that the company seemed to be focusing too narrowly on smoking-related diseases. "We are demanded to look at the wider range of health risks, and not just those attributable to cigarettes," said Dr Eissenberg."

This is the mindset you're up against. SM is applying for a reduced risk to cigarettes designation and these people are not doing that comparison.

Pretty new to snus, I'd tried the Camel version when they started sending me coupons, wasn't terribly interested in it. This week I developed some kinda of respiratory sickness, cough, cold, not pleasant. This is the first time I've really been sick since I stopped smoking 10 months ago.

Long story short vaping was not helping me feel better, so I picked up a tin of Camel snus, then remembered reading about General here. I got a tin of Nordic Mint today and I'm not sure if I like it or not. It's definitely potent and it had my mouth watering like crazy. (I dunno what potent even means anymore, I vape 3 mg, so I'm sure any ST is going to be potent.)

Anybody have other recommendations on snus to try? And where in the world to get it? It looks like I can get most of the General line locally.

Welcome!

The Nortic Mint is an Americanized snus from General with a sweetness rather than the saltiness that most Swedish snus has. If you want to try the true swedish versions, find the round General cans, Mint or White. There is also Wintergreen but most on here hate the taste. I think there's one other that is available in some locations.

Not sure about why your mouth was watering, never happened to me. Did you have it under your upper lip where it belongs as opposed to your lower lip as you do with dip? That could be the issue.

Gotcha, General in the round cans.

I dunno, I had it in my upper lip. Maybe I'm just a sissy? :D

Looks like I can get the White, Mint, Mini Mint, Wintergreen, and Original locally. I'll have to give them a try.

Thanks for the info!
