Funny! They range from about 1k to the millions. We are way down on the low end. The ones we are trying are in the 2-3k range. If she continues to play in college then we will need to upgrade again. But this range is very acceptable for high school. Her old one was about 1k but we won't get that out of it for trade in. We'll be lucky to get half of that.

No experience with violins, but acoustic guitars are the same way.

I learned on an $80 Lyon and when I upgraded to a Martin acoustic electric (10-ish times the Lyon's price) it was pretty amazing.

Still doesn't hold a candle to my friends 12 string Martin that he traded a truck for...

I didn't know you played Waho. I took some lessons as an adult but don't play much any more. I just have a Washburn acoustic electric that's no where as nice as a Martin but it's good enough to fiddle around on. I have a cheap Samick electric and two Fender strats. One is a Mexico made that's actually pretty decent quality and the other is a deluxe 50th anniversary model. That reminds me, I wonder why gutter doesn't post any more? He had some really cool old guitars and worked on guitars and amps. I always enjoyed the pictures he posted.

Yep, started around 13-14 years old. Self taught.

A couple of my friends, my brother, and I had a garage/cover band. My brother drummed, my friends played lead/rhythm guitar, and I played bass and sang.

We mainly just screwed around and played at each other's and friends birthday parties until we dressed up and played a friends Halloween party. One of the people who was there's Dad owned a bar and asked if we'd wanna play at the bar sometime.

We only did it a few times because we were 18 and 19, my brother was 15. We had to set up, play an hour, pack up and leave before 9pm since we were minors.

We slowly stopped as we all got jobs and moved and whatnot. My buddy the lead guitar started his own band that was fairly successful locally until he passed away in a car wreck in 2012.

I've sold/given away a lot of my gear. I still have the Martin, a Shecter electric, and Shecter C-4 XXX bass. The XXX is my pride and joy, not many of them made.

Not me or mine, but that's the idea of it.

That's great to know. I never played in a band or anything. I just have a little area in my basement where I'd practice between lessons. Every once in a while I'll go down and play a little or I'll learn something new off of YouTube. It's really cool that you're self taught. I don't know if I could do that. I do wish that I had started at a younger age. Maybe I'd be better by now. Maybe not. I do still enjoy it but the kids keep me busy and I don't find time to play much. I guess if I'd spend less time on the forum then I'd have more time to practice.

Making me want to set up in my basement now. I haven't touched any if it in a few years since I moved.

Unfortunately the beloved bass paid the price. Going from hot to cold a few times plus being moved in a gig bag and stored in my mom's moist basement for a time got the neck all bent. Then I tried adjusting the truss rod (never do this unless you know absolutely what your doing) and messed it up even further.

It'll probably cost me big bucks for a good guitar tech to straighten her out.

An advantage of having a teacher haha.

I tightened it when it should have been loosened, then I handed it (stupidly) to a friend of a friend that "I'll totally fix her for ya dude" who ended up stripping the hex head and snapping the truss rod somewhere in the neck. Live and learn. I had a cheap Fender Squier 4 string jazz bass that I wish I hadn't given away looking back now, at least I'd have a bass to play.

Been a while since I've gotten to jam out some...

My oldest daughter showed some interest in guitar about eight or ten years ago so since she was so small I bought her a 3/4 fender squier and a little practice amp. She never took off with it and I still have the squier in the basement. She's 18 now and in college. She asked me while home on Xmas break if I had an acoustic she could use to learn on. I have an old Yamaha acoustic with hard case that I'm going to let her use. It's not the easiest to play but will build hand strength. If she sticks with it then I'll buy her a better one.

How dare someone post off topic in here. :pervy:

I thought we were the kings of off topic!

On topic though, anyone ever look for or find a stainless los portioner (Icetool etc.) thats made in or at least ships from America? It probably doesn't exist though. :pervy:

I've done a little looking and have come up empty. Northerner has the $3 Prismaster shipping from USA but it just seems and looks chintzy.

That being the case, have I got an investment deal for y'all! Help me out with thousands of dollars for state of the art CNC equipment and we'll crank out made in the USA Los snus tools that exactly 4 people will be interested in! Get in on the ground floor folks!

Waho, I think Sweden is the only place to find the stainless containers. I've bought two, both on big orders when they were on sale. The first one was my favorite with a spring loaded top to hold used portions. Unfortunately, I managed to bent the lid so that the top lid never closed properly. I think that might have got destroyed when I fell, carrying in a couple bundles of firewood three years ago. I bought the second one with a kid that comes off completely and I've gotten used to it.

Hit, someone posted about lack of dental care and how bad it was not doing regular visits. It wasn't a bad message, but totally inappropriate for ECF, definitely spam.

I've had an issue over the last several months with getting the kind of pain you get when you need a root canal. The only problem is that it's coming from a tooth, under a cap, that already had a root canal. I'm at the dentist 4 times a year for cleaning, trying to avoind further gum issues. I had to get antibiotics once for that tooth area and it's acted up twice since, the last time three days ago. Instead of going to the doc the last two times, I used coconut oil to handle the issue. I use some coconut oil for cooking (love on waffles as opposed to butter among other things). I comes solidified and as long as it's not too hot, stays that way.

I'll use a spoon, to dig a gob out and put it directly on the gun beneath the tooth. In a couple of days the pain is gone. I read about it, tried it and it works. I probably should use it a few times a week, it's called pulling, which is supposed to be good for tooth health.
