Roth, I ordered a Lenovo thinkpad today for my wife. Her brother loaned her a laptop but it's big and heavy and she has complained about it. The new one is 11.6" and lightweight. She just needs it for Internet and email so I hope it's a good fit for her. It has a 64gb ssd. I don't know much about netbooks.

I'm using a 14" Lenovo Flex 2 for the last 2 years and I love it. Never had an ssd drive but they're supposed to be fast. If she doesn't do anything other than internet and emails, I'd expect she'd be fine. My last couple laptops were 10 and 11 inches and I liked them but the 14" suits me better. The ssd drive seems small, what model number is it? Mos appear to have 126gbs.

When you get it check "Storage" by enterying it in the "Ask me anything" box in the lower left hand corner (You probably know what I'm talking about if you've worked with Win 10). I'm curious about how much storage Win 10 Pro and it's backup take.

More and more of the apps that people use are available on line, either free or by subscription (money grubbing companies like MS). I know I do photo editing on line where I used to load up photoshop and I'll bet I could find on line, free office software also but I found a free suite that handles all my needs so I just downloaded it 3 or 4 years ago.

I know I'd have a hard time with onlt 64GB, heck, I've got 150gb used on my 500gb machine. The reason I ask about what your storage loos like, I show 55.4 gb for system and reserved alone. I have 25gb in apps, 30 gb in music, over 5gb in videos and 30 in temp files which I should clean up. I'm guessing they have a much smaller footprint for the OS somehow.

Win10 does a pretty good job of scaling itself based on available storage space. My machine has a 512gb SSD and 1tb disk drives and uses almost 100gb for Win10.

SSD drives will spoil you in the long run. You get used to 7 second cold boots and everything else seems a snails pace.

I'm not too worried about storage. She can use a flash drive for more storage. Like I said, the new idea pads are only 32gb. The Mac air my daughter has for high school is 128 and the one we bought for college for my oldest is a 256 Mac air. However, their OS might be smaller. I only spent 179 on it so it won't be a big disappointment if it doesn't work out.

My brother bought a 1tb for over $500 a few years back. Crazy kids.

I paid $240 for my first 512gb (Intel) and $170 about a year later for my second machine (Samsung).

Reminds me of buying my very first flash drive when I started collage. 256mb, set me back about $40. Crazy how technology advances.

What a day. That woman that lives in my house came home with one of those Sun Setter awning from her sister's house when she moved. Her husband died when a tree limb broke off while he was mowing and he bled out before anyone got home. Anyway, the bank wouldn't let her keep the property and foreclosed. They stripped the house out before leaving and the awning ended up in my drive.

I dreaded installing it as it had to weight over 150 pounds and had to be hung over 8 feet over my slider out on the back deck. To make matters worse, the wood siding is nearly 37 years old now and no longer level. The three brackets that hold it on the wall had to be close to perfect to get it to fit. Fortunately her sister's boyfriend is doing something that involves installing heavy stuff up high.

We took two extension ladders and laid them on the wall and used two heavy duty ratchet straps I had from moving my mother out to wrap through a few rungs of the ladder with the other end hooked around the two ends of the awning. The weight was distributed perfectly to enable us to slowly lift the awning and the women could easily hold the strap until we were ready to move it up again. We got it up reasonably easy and did a good job of installing the brackets. Learned something new that I'm not sure I'll ever use but good information.

Isn't that the truth Hitt. I was trying to get prepared to do the install and she wants me in the house. She leads me to the bathroom and shows me the toilet is leaking from the tank. I figured great, another project. I shut the water off and flushed the toilet figuring I'd get the parts tomorrow, once I figured out how to deal with it.

I don't know if you ever had to fix one, I never did, but you have to take thetank off, and install a replacement kit. Figured I'd replace everything connecting the tank to the bowl rather than just the washers and bolts, then find out later that something else failed. This is a 37 year old house so why do half the job.

Last night I decided to get the tank off so I only had to do the install today. I jot her to hold the bolt in the tank as I loosened up the nut. I got lucky. Working upside down, I started tightening it rather than loosening. When I realized it was firming up, I also realized it wasn't tight to start with. I figured it was worth a shot. I firmed it up, reattached the water line and, voila, no leak. At least now, I know what it takes to repair if it actually goes bad.

I just did a tank about a month ago. One of the washers rusted out and it was leaking from the bottom of the tank. Pretty simple as those bolts are it. Take them out and the tank lifts right off. I bought a new bolt kit and reinstalled the tank. No problems and no leaks.

Yeah, I'm the same Hitt. I learned how to replace the wax seal when mine leaked. My buddy is a construction guy so he came over and showed me how. I noticed they have a wax free seal now which looks a lot easier and the reviews were good.

That's true Rebel, as long as you can get the bolt out clean. Had the head looked at all bad, I might have just bought a kit and did the whole job because if I couldn't get a screwdriver to hold the head, getting to the shaft of the bold was near impossible on this toilet. There was just enough room to put a socket in. Had I had to hacksaw it off, it wasn't happening.
