Darn, I found a house in Perkins, SC for $199,000, brick on two acres in the country. I'd end up paying about $3k in State taxes I don't pay here, but the RE taxes are only $936 and another $450 PP tax on my cars (if I kept them all). Not sure if the bikes are even assessed. Darn, with winter now at hand, this place looks mighty good.

There's even a big patch on those two acres to plant a real garden, already started.

Nice looking place Roth. Very similar to mine, I just trade 100sq ft and a bathroom for about 1000sq ft of finished basement.

My property taxes on the house are about $2300 yearly (house appraised for $110k for tax purposes) and then $300 for car registration/license renewals.

Michigan is fairly cheap to live in tax wise. Not too sure how inheritance taxes work. I know with my Dad's estate we were able to exploit a loophole and get the whole thing tax free. Otherwise it was going to be like 40%. My Mom and a lawyer handled it so it was totally out of my hands.

Waho, you're good on inheritance tax. I believe the only States collecting these days are Iowa, Kentucky, Nebraska, New Jersey and Pennsylvannia. I did a bit more research and found NC had also repealed their 16% inheritance tax in 2013 which opens up another State to consider in my view. I'd eventually like to get to a warmer area of the country but not too warm and closer to the mountains but not in the mountains.

I think ours had something to do with someone having to claim it as income if it was valued over a certain amount, which it was. We had something like a trust set up that disbursed yearly at a lower amount so it would be tax free.

The underwriters raked me through the coals about that when I was getting my mortgage. The amount of information they wanted was insane.

I kept getting a dry coil message in TC mode until I did a search and found out you have to lock in the resistance setting. It has a great feel to it and makes me want to buy another one. Maybe after Christmas if there's a sale.

My furnace wasn't working this morning. I took some voltage readings and the temp limit switch was stuck open. I took it out, tapped it a few times until it read good and put it back in. It's running good now but I'm going to go tomorrow and buy a new one when businesses are open again. I called a local hvac place and they wanted $260 to come and replace it. No thanks. It's less than a five minute job. The guy was super nice though and gave me some good advice.

Jerk, you have to wonder about people. I usually go first to online for that exact reason. Half the time you can find a video how to on whatever you're trying to fix. I had read somewhere yesterday that you should get the one designed for your particular burner. Hopefully it will come in before it gets stuck again.

I'm working on the PC of a friend of mine. I did the conversion to Win 10 for her and was over a few months ago and it was running like a dog. I told her when we got to winter I'd try to find what happened. The anti-virus wasn't run since 8/2015 and I just ran malwarebytes and found 62 threads and I'm suspecting that's only the start. All her Win 10 updates have failed for months, another thing I'll need to try to figure out.

Since I'm still a semi-invalid with my sciatic nerve being pinched, I have the time.

I ordered the exact Lennox part number. They call it a limit switch but it's really just a thermal sensor that's designed to open at a certain temperature. It shipped already and is supposed to be here tomorrow.

I've been running windows 10 at work for a while now and don't really like it. I'm experiencing some features not working and internet explorer locks up frequently. I haven't had time at work to try to fix it.
