I took my snowblower apart yesterday. Last time I got it out I had to use starting fluid to start it. I figured maybe the choke had come loose or something. Nope. Everything looked fine except I noticed when I pulled the choke lever out to what I thought was full choke, there was still room for it to go further so I pulled it a little more and sure enough it came out more. I put a black line on the plastic lever so I could tell how far to pull it out. I put it back together, took it outside, and pulled the choke out to the mark. It started first pull. Hopefully it works that well when I need it again.

Snow? What is this snow stuff you speak of? We haven't seen much of it here in Michigan this year. A little back in November but that is it. Above average temps for the most part and yesterday it was 50 and raining. Sure glad I don't ski or snowmobile. I started my snowblower just to make sure it ran but haven't used yet. Last year we had the endless winter and this year no winter. Michigan is funny...

Same here in PA. We had that one heavy 8 inches or so in November and that's been it thus far. Rain constantly, but I can live with that.

I had a reason to head past the grave yard and took the opportunity to check out my tombstone, all it needs is a body and a year. lol I was a bit bugged that my stone sits in front of my uncles flat stone. When I was picking one out for him, I had one that that was similar to the one that mine became, just shorter. They came back and said it would need to be flat so that's what I had them use. Then when I ordered mine, I told the director to make it the same as my uncles. The grave yard came back and said that wouldn't work because only one flat one was allowed on a plot. I said put in whatever they'll accept. It was just like the one I originally ordered for him but taller. I just shook my head when I saw it.

At least I was passing the store that carried General so I stopped and got a can of something I haven't had for awhile. Yeah, the Wintergreen in a brand new can and better than ever.

Same here. Snow before Thanksgiving and not much since. Temps in the 40s and rainy. Last night it was freezing rain with lots of accidents. It was rainig and 35 when I got home from job #2 tonight and I'm hoping it stays above freezing although it will probably turn to ice.

Wow FC, that's not what I expected to hear from you. Usually no matter how much warmer and snow less we are down South here in eastern PA you always get the white stuff. I think it's my new snow blower.

Just responding to you, Axil flashed into my mind. I wonder how she's doing. I hate those sudden disappearances.

Anyone have any experience with the lock boxes at HD? I wanted to get a set of magnetic torx wrenched in anticipation of putting the fireplace back together. I pulled my back a bit trying to unscrew the two bolts holding in the andiron and wanted to make putting it back together a bit easier.

I checked HD yesterday and they said limited supply and told me to contact HD. Didn't do it but was going to this AM and when I reloaded the page it said 1 available. Rather than going in and finding out they were sold, I ordered online figuring if they were gone, I didn't waste a trip. received an email that said they were in a lock box and gave me a code.

Got there and the boxes were out in an enclosed area. Keyed in the number, nastily signed my name with my finger and one of the door popped open and there were my wrenches. What a world.

I hadn't seen those before. I buy most of my stuff at Lowes since they give a 10% military discount. It was a nice discount on our new range. I bought a flashlight there the last time I was there and got home and the light it puts off has a blue tint to it. I probably wouldn't have bought it if I knew that.

I shift between the two. In this case, HD was the only one with the magnetized torx. My back didn't need that twisting a second time. Speaking of which, some guy had a zippo hand warmer he wanted to sell yesterday and I decided to buy it to see if it would work in my motorcycle gloves. Because of the pain I was having in my lower back, I stuffed it in my pants today when I was out and it really helped with the pain, a mobile heating pad. lol

Over the holidays Lowe’s had a counter right inside the door for picking up internet orders.

I’m going round with my tv/ internet provider on FB. Since time warner switched to spectrum, I’ve had two increases on my bill and now they are negotiating with tribune who provides one of the most popular local stations so I’ve been missing four channels for a week now. I’m seriously considering switching to google fiber. Not to mention they sent me a new modem that was supposed to be faster/better and the WiFi has been worse and I’ve had to reset the modem at least six times in a couple months.

Same here, only one internet provider and they have you button hooked. Customer service is shoddy at best and the price for internet alone is close to $100. They say that they have 100 mps but I've never seen it anywhere close to that. Always resetting the modem. But of course they charge you like they're providing that speed. Hate'em with a passion. I've had Direct TV for years now and just call up every six months and ..... about the price. They lower it for another six months and rinse and repeat. Might lose the signal during a nasty downpour but they have every channel I could want and their customer service is outstanding.

Might be worth looking at the cellphone companies, honestly, if your choices are limited. I have a Verizon Jetpack and it was super cheap (granted, we had an absurdly high data plan that we never are going to be able to change, because we are grandfathered into the rate because my son went through this phone phase and we got tired of paying overages.) So, instead of the kid's line (he has his own cellphone provider now) we converted his line to a jetpack and it cost 20 dollars. I have used less than half my data for that "line" and I use it a fair amount for streaming and stuff, and we have rollover data from like 2011 yet.)

It's been useful and it works unless you are just going through SCADS of data or whatever. I watch Neflix every night...

The data limit thing scares me as well. Comcast has a 1 terabyte limit that my wife with her darn near 24 hour streaming ends up getting closer than I'd like every month.

At least I pay for 100 mbps and it consistently runs well above that. I got one of the new xFi modems 6 months or so ago that is surprisingly reliable, haven't had any trouble with it yet *knock on wood*

Between complaining on Facebook and writing a review on the BBB website, I got Spectrum’s attention. They called me at home tonight. It was a waste of time. Since time Warner became Spectrum, the customer service people have their hands tied and can’t negotiate prices. This lady told me the same thing as the other person I talked to and said they were unable to do anything about my pricing. I told her thanks for calling but it was a waste of time.

My prophesy on the topic is that cable and other tv services will eventually go away as more and more jump yo cord cutting. I have someone living in my VA home for a few months and she wanted tv for her and her son. Going thru the cable co. That involved Directv and a two year contract, not happening. She got Directv Now for $43 including taxes. The internet is still $70 but it's just month to month on the TV so when she's gone the expense is gone.

Once the vast majority cut out the tv service the internet providers will start making data more and more expensive, just like the phones. Waho's seeing it already with Comcast limits.
