Boy, I haven't gotten any notice of posts in here, Im nearly a week behind.

That's a cool mower. The first thing I thought was how much space it saves. The second was that they must have redesigned the engines. I've had issues with tilting mowers where they didn't want to start after tilting them. I always thought it was oil getting into the gas but not sure.

Gutter, glad to hear you found a bike that you liked for something near bike prices. It will be nice to have something that fits you too. I know your pain on losing a dog. It's amazing how you grow used to having them around, even when they don't warm to you.

Speaking of dogs, one of my friends got a Golden pup and has been posting pictures since she got him. It looks so much like mine looked when I got him. I even wrote that I'd like to meet him personally but was afraid I'd want to steal him. He's a couple months old now and she took a shot that was just too close other than nose color. It forced me to go back into my picture archive and get ones from a similar age. 3 1/2 years and he can still get me to well up. I loved that dog.

Yeah Hitt, it is a lot for a bike but what joys to ride. Of course when you add an engine and add years, you find the exercise not quite as inviting.

Those beetles sound nasty, hope they don't show up around here.

Roth, it sounds to me like you need a new puppy.

I'm sure bike riding is fun. It's just beyond my budget right now to even get a starter bike. Maybe some day I'll try it. I'm sure I could ride with my neighbor next door if I got a bike.

Thanks to Rebel, I got a couple new to me snus to try. I got the thunder apple and the thunder melon. The apple is a bit of a disappointment like the thunder lemon was. It's basically thunder frosted with apple flavor added. I've never really liked the frosted. I wish they had just skipped the frosted and put only apple flavor. The melon however is good. The throat drip is a little harsh the first five or ten but after that there's a nice melon flavor without the frosted flavoring.

No problem Hitt. I ordered a couple cans of each of those but I enjoyed the apple last time I had it. Different strokes I guess. I've been on a whiskey snus kick lately and grabbed a number of them on this order. Tried out the General Mackmyra yesterday and paired with the bergamot in the original General, the whiskey flavor is excellent. I'm liking it a lot. Wish I ordered a few more cans.

My girlfriend reports that mine landed safe and sound. Too bad I'm already at work :(

    Thanks again Rebel!

The big reason I bought the smart stow mower was it had a larger engine (190cc vs 160cc), and it was only $30 more than the identical mower without smart stow. But it really does save a ton of space. It's currently up against the wall in front of the truck, not enough room for anything else there but the mower fits perfectly.

The manual does say to keep it under a half tank when storing upright to prevent leaks/flooding.

Jackson, my Goldendoodle, will probably be my last big dog. I had been considering getting one that wasn't going to end up a 100 pound monster when my Golden past, a pal to play with Jack, but I just wasn't ready. Then these two little rats showed up which could easily live as long as me (maybe longer, who knows). The one thing I really like is the lack of shedding from the three of them. I wasn't used to that.

Gutter it was a little strange with the Disguiser at first but it grew on me after a day or so. It also comes with an adapter tube that will allow you to put a tank on top like a regular mod.

I'm sorry about your dog. It's never easy losing a pet.

Congrats on the new bike. I'm sure it's just me being a tightwad but 2k still seems like a lot for a bike but that's coming from someone that doesn't ride. Every extra penny I have goes to the kids right now. With my oldest in college and the youngest has a big school trip next year, I don't have two nickels to rub together.

interesting. so it's not sooo huge you can't get accustomed to it? we've all switched through so many vaporizer size and formats over the years it's no surprise.

thanks man - he was a good one,he just didn't speak human too well.

the bike thing is weird man,i know from a monetary standpoint it sounds nuts for a lot of people but, from a mental and physical health standpoint it's great for me. it's one of those things where most people that just ride on the weekends or when the weather is nice or do little short errands, the little "off" things about their bikes aren't a big deal.when you're on it for hundreds and hundreds of miles a month,a few millimeters here or there in the stem or seat position can make the difference in being able to walk or bend over (or be functional) the next day.i did the vintage steel bike thing for years and you can get in to them for little to no money but, they just don't cope well with being beat on every day .Then, every time something breaks, it's a hassle to try and track down replacements for it and then do the repairs - i was just spending way too much time mechanic-ing and too little time riding.

i did squirrel away the money over the last few months by selling amplifiers and guitars and picking up some extra work here and there so you could say i just cashed out some equity and turned it into a bike ( that's what i'm telling myself anyway - feels way less guilt inducing that way :))

It sounds like my affection for the feral goat. I'm very sorry for your loss, Gutter.
Thank you mrs firechick. he was a lot like your goat from what you said.To be fair, it wasn't just me he didn't like - it was all men (we think he was abused) or anyone that made him do anything he didn't want to ( the aforementioned .......ry) :)

My neighbors have been fighting them the past couple years, but it's the first they've showed up on my lot. They eventually gave up and just dug all their plants up this spring, so that could be why we got them.

hahahaha. they all just picked up and moved to your house!!! " where did all our food go????? screw this, let's move to canada!!!"

thanks man -it's weird how you get used to their little quirks and mannerisms and patterns and things just feel off after they're gone.

giant actually started a summer sale the week after i went and test rode some so i ended up upgrading to the next tier of component quality and saved about 700 bucks off retail.i'm not sure how happy the shop was about that...i'm still dialing things in but so far it seems like a winner of a bike.

it's interesting how little things can remind you of old dogs - a buddy of mine is a die hard boston terrier guy and has a pair of them. the smaller of the two has a personality that reminds me of sadie ( the rott in my avatar that we lost 4 years ago) everytime i'm around her.i always leave his house slightly teary eyed and thinking i might like to have a boston sometime and then their insane neverending energy levels come to mind and i think better of it.

Gutter, that's one dog I would never consider owning. I'm sure there are a lot of nice ones, but the three I experienced were dangerous nuts. Mine was a combination of a Boston and a Wire-haired Terrier. It was my first dog and the only one I had to put down because of temperament. Maybe a dog whisperer could have straightened him out but I couldn't.

Then my nephew had a full bread that seemed to go the same path, getting worse and worse as time past. You couldn't walk into their home with the dog loose (mine was you couldn't leave). The last time I saw theirs, we all settled into the living room, then they brought the dog out and had it sniff around everyone on a leash. After his excitement level calmed they let him go. He sniffed around some more then seemed satisfied so all appeared fine. The maybe 10 minutes later my mom moved and the dog attacked nipping her in the hand and he wanted more. Fortunately he grabbed it and stopped the attack. I never saw the dog again and I never bothered to ask what happened to it.

Gutter, I wasn't criticizing the amount spent on the bike. I get it. I bought a 1100 treadmill and a 900 smith cage. It's all about what you like to do. I was just saying that I don't have the money to even consider getting a good bike to try. It does look like fun but it's just too expensive for me right now. Sounds like you got a super deal on your new bike.

Work has been insane again. There just aren't enough hours in the day.

They're fairly lazy and mainly eat flowers/buds and new growth, the softer easy to eat parts of plants. Once the neighbors dug up their flowering plants, they came to my yard and another neighbor across the street (who just planted 10 new rose bushes that have already been mauled). They've been ignoring my hardier plants/trees/evergreen shrubs thankfully.

Along with the regular instant kill pesticide, I bought some systemic pesticide and some nematodes. The adults only live a few weeks so when they die down I'll put the nematodes down to hopefully eat the larva they lay in the soil to feed on the roots of plants. Come spring before the remaining larva turn into beetles I'll use the systemic pesticide to hopefully kill the adults snacking on the flowers before they can produce their offspring.

My girlfriend says I remind her of that Geico commercial...

Boy did I get a weird one today from my sister. My father had told a friend of hers years ago that the two of them were distantly related. Her friend got into genealogy and established the relationship and also taught me about my father's mother's side of the family. Through word of mouth from my father, I was led to believe that his father's side of the family arrived from Germany either before or during the Revolutionary war and that there were two brothers who were in the funeral business. That was never verified, but his mother's side now is and it's bizarre.

The were apparently Dutch and arrived in 1751 and settled in the Perkiomen Valley and once he got married, lived in the same township I currently live in. Talk about returning to your roots! I always knew I had relatives on dad's side of the family somewhere around here, but had no idea how my family history really centered here.

The other thing I found out was that my grandfather was a cigar maker. I knew him as he lived with us in his last few years and died in one bedroom on our first floor (my dad passed in the room next to it). I knew the town of Sellersville, where I was born, had a big cigar box industry back in the day, but I didn't know that cigars were made in the area. It might also explain how my dad's sister married a Sellers as they were probably introduced through the booming business of the early 1900s.

Obviously the temperance movement and the turn of the century anti-smoking movement pretty much put an end to the booming Sellersville industries of those years and it became just another hole on the wall pass thru town by the time I was a boy.

wow. really??? that's a shame... i don't think i've ever been around a dangerous boston - they all have had slightly high strung/high prey drive tendencies though so i guess being prone to being neurotic and in turn dangerous isn't out of the question. same thing with chihuahas (er.. well most other "lap" breeds) i guess - that genetic lottery of downsizing does seem to have a tendency to put out some nutjobs.

two of the worst dogs i've ever seen were miniature breeds (pinscher and schnauzer) both of those dogs would take your ankle off repeatedly if they got close enough to it.of course, their owners didn't help things "aww, he's just playing -he's not dangerous"

"well, my ankle is bleeding so, i'd say you may need to rethink that stance, lady'

oh yeah man - i get it. didn't mean to come off as defensive if i did - was just trying to explain my crazy mindset ;)
if you do ever wanna give it a go, the older raleigh sports 3 speeds and schwinn steel 10 speeds are a great way to get in to it - they're both cheap and the parts are as easy to find as any older bike on the market. the raleighs are particularly fun as they're more upright and don't have a derailleur to futz with.
actually, if you get the itch, i've got a couple of steel bikes you could just have :)

sorry to hear about work, too many repairs coming in?? i've been consciously trying not to work so much to see if there's any merit to the european idea of the inverse relationship of reduced work hours to productivity. i've been trying to keep to 4 short days a week and i seem to be way less stressed and more productive when i am working. of course, the slippery slope of slack time is always attractive so maybe it's all placebo. we'll see when the monthly averages comes in...

I've thought the same thing about work. It'd be nice to work shorter days. I think I could get the same amount done with less hours actually at work but I doubt my boss would agree. I know there are times during the day when I'm not productive. I was running 1-2 weeks behind even looking at new repairs coming in for several months and had finally gotten it down to a 3-4 day lead time then it hit again about a week ago and I'm back to over a week lead time. I don't mind the work but it's a constant battle dealing with complaining customers that are impatient. I have been getting several people stopping in and asking if I can stop what I'm working on and " take a quick look" at their machines. I've gotten to the point where I have to tell them no and that they have to leave it if they want it looked at.

We've become a society of now Hitt. We want it done and done immediately. I dropped my car off this morning for some service, called last week, set up the appointment, and made the drop without a problem. Not so lucky for the lady in front of me, no call, just showed up demanding they look at her car now! Well the last I saw of her was sitting on her .... in the waiting room complaining to someone on her phone. Hope she's still there when I pick my car up this afternoon. Everything needs to be fast today or someone gets butthurt.
