Hey everyone. Been busy here. Work is crazy busy, as home has been. Hopefully I can get a couple days to relax coming up. Tonight I'm bar tending at the Post, but then I'm off for the next 9 days. Of course after that it will be back to 12 hour days until at least the end of July.

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July, although with the lack of rain here I'm not sure fireworks are a great idea. Our lawn is covered in dead leaves and dry grass. It looks like fall outside until the heat hit's you.

Still trying to wake up with:

roth, it looks like you are going to have more of the high temps than we will. The weatherman said high 80's at most through the middle of the week. I thought I heard a PA temp of 90's last night. I sure don't envy you.

I looked at a mobile A/C unit for my mom a while back. It's a box on wheels that has a flex pipe (like clothes dryer pipe) that you put out a window to get rid of the heat from the unit. I ended up just buying a window unit for her. Maybe that's an option for you until you can replace yours?

Getting ready to run to the vet's for meds, the office for items I need for this afternoon, and then to a wedding.

Hope everyone has a great day, and stays cool.

Good morning. Skrymr I hope you enjoy your time off.

FC it sounds like you are busy as usual. We're having the inlaws over for the wifes bday later. It's supposed to be over 100 here again today. I'm getting really tired of the heat. I guess it could be worse. We usually have more rain and the humidity is higher.

FC, I considered a room A/C like you described as a temporary fix, but I have a couple inhibiting factors. First I have casement windows that swing open. I'd have to block off the long length somehow, but I didn't find that to be the major issue. Room configuration told me to gut it out until the install. My LR is 17x17 with 10 foot ceilings but I can't easily isolate the room. It's open to the raised DR and a raised entrance hall with even like 20 foot ceilings.

I'd end up having to hang blankets to cover up the entrance way and a sun room and the kitchen to get anywhere close to optimum performance from the biggest portable. I'll gut it out for a few weeks. I had to crawl through my mom's attic space this week as she had a door knob failure that I had to correct. I think she has a couple of window exhaust type fans from years ago. I may check them out to blow hot air out. With the ceiling fan and a couple others in the LR, it shouldn't be too bad for a few weeks.

Now if I lived where Hitt is, I may have a different plan. :) Then there always is the backup plan, head to the bar, it's always cool in there.

Roth I guess if you drink slow enough then you could spend the whole day there.

I just got back from taking the kids to get fireworks. The heat is brutal again today. It seems kind of weird that the fourth falls on a Wednesday this year. It'll be back to work Thursday.

it's good to see we're not alone in the insane heat. it hit 109 here the other day with humidity of 55% or something - it's 102 out today and it feels like you're gonna burst into flames when you step outside.
there's no telling what the utility bill will be after this.. not looking forward to it......

I skipped the bar thought and toughed it out, translated, I slept through the hottest part of the day. Hitt, you don't really have to drink that slow, just head out around 3 for about three hours and you have the worst covered. Of course getting a shower before you go sucks because it's almost impossible to get dried off, especially your hair. Fortunately nature is starting to make that less of an issue.

Is this an unusual summer for your area Hitt. I don't recall you ever mentioning that kind of heat in the past. I spent 5 months in Oklahoma during Army days that after the first couple weeks the temp was always in the 90s or better with 60% rel. hum., even at night. Worst place I ever was but you're sounding like you're living it.

Gutter! Nice to see ya, figuratively speaking. I kind of figured you were getting it when I saw how the heat way moved east. It's the same at my place in VA. I'm not heading there for awhile. It's hot enough here and there's only air in the Kitchen there.

this heatwave sucks for cooking which is about half my job. outside at a grill at a drug rehab cooking for these ungrateful dopesick kids..required to wear all black pants and t-shirt.

    dipping some cope

I love the smell of cope. I have a friend who does it and every time I see him he just hands me his can of cope and lets me smell it.

Okay...... I admit that's a bit weird............. but there is no snus out there with that smoked hickory flavor. There has been rummers for years that cope was going to do a snus but nothing yet.

Roth this is an unusual summer for us. I don't remember it ever being this hot and dry for this long in the twenty years that I've lived here. It's usually a lot more humid but we've hardly been getting any rain so the lower humidity makes it a tiny bit easier to deal with. I'm very glad that I work mostly inside except for the occasional service call.

Gutter, it's not much better here. It's good to hear from you though.

i added some menthol eliquid to it too. i used to soak my cope straight in whiskey for 3-4 weeks before use. made for a magnificent dip

I might start looking for one of those fire proof suits. Luckily I'm on level pay for the electric. I had a credit built up before the heatwave hit.

While nothing is firePROOF, I could probably send some bunker gear your way. I'll put some snuff in the radio pocket.

Waiting for it to cool off a little more so I can walk the dog.
