I'm alive and well. I wrote something this weekend but must have missed hitting the enter key. Halfheimers strikes again. I started trying to get my garage under control. I had some extra shelves become available from in the house which will become garage management areas.

Don't know the last I posted, but I took over my mom's lawn mowing duties last week. The trailer worked great, but it led me to another job. Mom has a fenced in area where she lets her dog out. Part of the fence broke away last spring (medal posts rotted out) and there was a big gap that the dog could have gotten out. I drove two posts in and tied them to the existing fence so no more holes.

However, the lawn service had cut the fence in a different area to be able to get their mower thru. Over the years, the fence sagged and wire fence attachments rusted away so the fence had a gaping hole that the dog could have gone through. I don't really think the dog has any interest in the world beyond that fence, but I didn't want a mishap on my watch so I had to fix it. I used rachet straps to pull the fence tight through about six sections and added new hardware to attach the fence to the posts. That brought enough fence to where it was cut that bungees could be used to hold the fence in place. Problem solved.

My sister can start driving again next week so my daily trips will no longer be required, than goodness. She got some added joy to her life when the storms hit this past weekend. Two huge evergreens got uprooted, fell on their garage and are sitting on their Neon. Who knows what damage the car took so far or how much will occur when they try to get the trees off the garage and car. Thank goodness for insurance.

Wow Roth. You have been a busy bee. Did you happen to see the person over in the other thread trying to argue with me and Stubby about how unsafe snus is? I'm just about tired of that one. If someone doesn't want to use snus then I don't care but don't come here badgering those of us who are trying to make an educated decision. I did a ton of reading before I even considered trying snus.

Hello PE, haven't seen you on here before, welcome!!

Hitt, how did the heart rate watch work out for you? I'm up to 17 minute runs now. Even used the evil treadmill tonight, since it is raining outside. I have a heartrate watch, but it will never take a reading for me when I am running. Kinda pointless. I also have one of those gps plus chestband magic garmin watches. I don't wear it. To much info psychs me out.

My husband got a promotion and he is moving two hours away oct first. I am happy for him, I guess.

Stubby, can you give me some links when you get a chance. What I've seen in the past showed dip at much higher tsna levels.

    http://rodutobaccotruth.blogspot.com/2011/12/low-nitrosamine-levels-in-altria-and.html

Many brands of dip are around 5 or 6. SM snus is around 2. That is parts per million so a few parts per million more is not a whole lot. Also keep in mind that when many of the studies on snus where done in the 70's, 80's and 90's, Swedish snus have about 10 parts per million. It has only been in recent years that the level has gotten this low. Of course they couldn't find any connection to oral cancer with higher levels then is in most current day dip.

From my understanding the risk difference between dip/chew, and snus very likely can't be found in large scale studies.

Axl, you're really making me feel old. 17 minutes is a bit much for me right now. I was doing a little more than that a year ago but my stamina and motivation have dropped. I'm going to keep after it though and see if I can do better. The watch works fine. It doesn't take a reading very easily when running but I mostly wanted to know rest, walking and after run heart rates. My rest was 72, after walking about a quarter mile it was 95, and after running a half mile it was 151. I have been doing a routine where I walk for warm up, then rotate running and walking for about two minute intervals. I read somewhere that you burn more calories by going from moderate to higher heart rates.

What the heck is up with this statement axl "My husband got a promotion and he is moving two hours away oct first. I am happy for him, I guess."? Is your husband not going to be living in your house any more?

Thanks for the link stubby. Those numbers are quite a bit lower than what I have seen before. The camel snus surprised me at being so low. It still tastes like candy though and I don't like it but I now have more information to give a better answer when someone asks about camel or marlboro snus.

The TSNA numbers for camel snus where the older style which are smaller. I read somewhere, can't remember where, that the newer camel snus is larger and the TSNA number is now about the same as Swedish snus.

I know for me it took a while to get through my rather thick skull that snus was not really a magic potion. The differences in risk for different smokeless products, if it exist at all, is very small. The main thing is to get away from combustion. After that just use whatever works for you. I still haven't gotten the nerve to try some Copenhagen, but if I get desperate someday I know it's an option that I don't have to be afraid of.

Wow, lot's to catch up on. It's been a hectic couple weeks and promises to be a couple more at least. My Mom went in for a pre op check for a knee replacement and they found a mass in her lung. The knee replacement was put off and lung surgery happened Monday. They took out a lower lobe that had the mass in it, and a few more early spots in the upper part of that lung.

With all of that going on, Sherry took over for my mom at the Post. Our weekend's have been full as well as our weeks. We're both being run ragged lately.

I hope every one stays well. I'll try to get on more.
