Newb question- I just got my 510 on Wednesday and LOVE it! What do you guys mean by mods?? Seems like your talking about bigger batteries??

How does that save you money?

Thanks and sorry for the dumb questions

Jim

Not dumb question at all Jim. The bigger units are like the Chuck, the Silver Bullet and multiple other ones. Yes, we are talking about batteries here to a big extent.

The mods are larger, have longer battery life and in some cases, batteries can go all day or even longer. The larger size kinda turns off some new users and as one person said; the 510s are comfortably the size of regular analogs. A close proximity to what we all are use to in regular smoking.

Soon, I became impatient with the battery life with the 510s and the fact that either the battery or atomizers could burn out. I've actually lost only about 5 atomizers in the past 3 plus months of vaping, so that isn't bad.

My main point is with new users we could recommend something beside the 510s and possibly put them onto something that would last a long, long time. The Silver Bullet as an instance, is something I paid about $96.00 for plus the batteries and charger. We have a "sale" area here on ECF and if the person decided they did not enjoy vaping, they could easily recoup about 75% of their money on reselling. By the way, my first two 510 kits ran me about $150.00

I think the experience of each vaporers on here varies, and some may stick
to the 510s forever. I personally wanted more flavor and less hassle with batteries. Another poster here mentioned the only problem after getting a good mod is the eliquid and amen to that. That's a whole other subject.

This is such a new field of development and everyone is kinda feeling there
way through...I just hate to have an unnecessary expensive start when I
we can warn the newbies try "one" 510 to see if vaping is for you and if you see that it is; come back and look for a solid piece of equipment that can last and last.

Thanks again all, good info coming forth and I appreciate each of you for chiming in.

Thanks a lot Bekinder, very good post there. I definitely understand where your coming from and its definitely a wise move that I will probably make in a few months. As of now, Im VERY new to this and will just sit back and enjoy this 510 :)

Oh, and I paid $108 shipped for my 510 kit, a PCC, 5 extra blank carts, and 2 15ml bottles of ejuice. Did I get ripped off? Seems like you guys on here are getting your stuff much much cheaper??

Thanks a lot for the kind words!

You're welcome Jim :)

What exactly came in the 510 kit? There are some with one battery, one atty and a few carts, others come with two batts, two attys and five carts (with charger). PCC costing $20-25, the juice should be about $10 a piece...

Not "ripped off" per se...

Realize this is a new business for most US distributors, I think (new being <5 years old). People are still feeling out the market. Yes, I personally paid less... but received much less juice than you did (two 3ml bottles). I propose we look at it this way:

You got (as best I can tell from your description) the same hardware kit I got. It will last you probably 4 -5 weeks before you need more juice - and then purchasing more juice is IT as far as more expenditures, until your first addy burns out a month or so from purchase.

Compare what you spend over that time to what you would have spent on analogs... then come back and complain about being overcharged a couple "yuppy food stamps". I bet you can't. :D That's ANOTHER major reason I've gotten all enthused about vaping...

You put it perfectly! Yea, Ive got a lot of juice here, and your right, I am saving a ton from not smoking. Ripped off? Not so much! I'd pay triple this amount because Im not smoking regular cigs anymore!

I'm perfectly happy with the 510, Nhaler HV liquid and a PTB cart - great vapor, great taste, convenient size. I use a passthrough 90% of the time, so the battery issue isn't a big deal for me at all. I set up a charging system with a USB hub and 4 usb chargers to keep 4 batteries charged at all times for my husband to use at work. The only thing I'd like to see is a larger cart to hold more liquid, but I like the smaller battery.

It's all personal preference, I guess.
