I've been off them for almost 3 months now so I've pretty much worked through most of the triggers that made me crave a smoke. And trust me, after 50 plus years and 5 - 6 packs a day I had a lot of them!

I seem to get a craving out of the blue for no real reason, it just hits me and for just a short time, I've had no problem fighting it off but it's real when it hits me.

Once in a while I still want one after I eat, but much less now.

Walking my dog will trigger it.

When I go in the bathroom to take a shower it hits me, I always used to have a smoke just before getting in the shower.

Oh and that other thing we do in the bathroom still triggers it too. lol

Talking on the phone will make me reach in my pocket time after time.

Driving in the car I still think about it.

And after sex, I just don't know what to do with the other hand, lol. j/k

I'm sure there are other things too, but even these are not that bad any more. I'm not sure I'll ever stop thinking about smoking all together. They were my best friends for a lot of years I'm sad to say.

But the one great thing is; I no longer wake up out of a dead sleep just to have a cigarette. That one used to drive me crazy.
lol
You smoked for 50 years? You must be old!
You're lucky you can still have sex! Much less go to the bathroom! ;)

duh, yeah I was one of the lucly ones that lived to tell about it. lol

As you get older sex has less and less to do with luck but then you peak and start going down hill again and it's a long slow fall.

You're right about the bathroom.

I think for me, the fall is going to be the challenge. I personally kind of like the way cigarette smoke smells (it's when you put the cigarette out that it really stinks.) There is nothing like the smell of an analog on a brisk fall day with a chill in the air. I guess I'll just stand close to a smoker and puff away on my PV.

After about 1 month with my e-cigs my cravings were gone.

During that first month I kept thinking I wanted a real cigarette. One evening my batteries were dead and I lit up one of my Pall Mall's. I took one drag and felt like I was going to be sick. Took a second drag and put it out. Have not touched a cigarette since and will never touch one again.

That proved to me that I really was finally done - once and for all - with cigarettes. It was a horrible experience, but both my hubby & I were jumping up and down with joy knowing that smoking was finally behind me.

Getting that behind me took about 45 years!

Haven't tested this theory yet, but I am doubting that a PV could replace the feeling I get of a cigarette at 5:30am outside when the sun has just come up on a cold Oregon morning after a long night of insomnia and solitude in thought. Lame, I know...

Still, even having had a 2 month break between quitting after 3 years smoking and getting my first PV, I'd only had 1 time when I was about to bum a cig off my buddy (and therein start smoking full-time again, as always) when I was pretty tossed. That was soon after I'd quit, long before I'd gotten my first PV. After that, I've not had a craving, especially not after getting a PV. :)

Thanks for the good thread idea, congratulations to everyone who quit analogs after so long, and stay strong, OP! Actually, now that I think about it, I had started watching Mad Men too for a bit before I was able to order my first PV and I was like "F--- this. If this e-cig thing isn't awesome, I'm gonna start smoking again. Not smoking is boring." That was my second temptation after quitting :p Good thing my Riva is awesome ^_^

Vaping has been the perfect replacement for me. I never craved even once after I started vaping about a year and a half ago. Once at a party, my atty died and so did my backup atty, so I had one. It was awful and didn't satisfy me at all.

I was a 30 year smoker and I'm still amazed! I wish my smoking friends would take it up...they all stink and still think a spritz of perfume covers it! <<shudder>>

Dang, that was hilarious. :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Actually, I only get a craving after having a bunch of sweets at my mother's apt. on Sunday afternoons. I noramlly visit her every Sunday and she always satisfies my sweet tooth. However, the sweets really do it. It probably doesn't help that she still smokes, about 5 cigs a day. OK, I'll admit it. I do join her in having one. Big deal. It's not like I'm still addicted. Hey! It's only Sunday afternoons. Get off my back. Yes, I do enjoy it, but that doesn't make me an addict.

I do not crave them at all...when I smell my former smoking buddies after smoke break, I am SO happy that I do not smoke anymore!

The biggest thing that I have noticed in almost 2 mos of not smoking analogs (after 25 yrs of a PAD) is that not smoking is so freeing! No lighter (took about a week before I stopped missing it), no frequent stops to make sure I had enough to smoke, and no more waiting in line at the smoke shop! I passed the smoke shop today and was so empowered by the fact that I didn't stop and wait in line to pay an exorbitant price for some analogs that would stink up the joint! :p

I find it so silly that people CONTINUE TO SMOKE and they wonder why they still have cravings for analogs? lol

Sorry to break it to you but as long as you guys are smoking, you're gonna have cravings. That's the way it usually works. I know everybody is different, but I didn't stop having cravings until I COMPLETELY STOPPED SMOKING. Now I don't even think about them and I can't stand it when somebody smokes around me. I think "how rude, they know I'm trying to quit." One of my friends even went as far as to ask me if they could smoke in my house. Ummm, how about NO? take your .... outside (no pun intended) but I don't wanna be around that poison. It's HORRIBLE for you and I don't know why i even started. but yeah
If you wanna quit, then QUIT!!!
If you're having cravings, then CHAIN VAPE!
that's what I did and now they're gone.
