Ok, im totally off the analogs now. I'm actually quite satisfied with what I have now. Thing is I'm quite the tinkerer and hobbyist by nature. I've done quite a lot of research so far on e cigs in general. Before I go spending a whole lot of time researching mods which I'm quite curious to try I just wanna know Is it gonna be cheaper to make one or just buy one pre-made as a kit? I've seen one on you tube made out of a cheap 3 dollar flashlight, but by the time I invest into batteries, voltage regulator, button, lights, and 510 female hub does it pay off?

With what I've spent in getting into e cigs I'm more worried about the cost than the hassle of building one. Now I'm also into RC cars and have a lot of 7.2 NIMH batteries laying around, was even thinking of trying one using those batteries just to see if I do indeed like it or not.

So upon building one, whats the average cost of making a 5v mod? I want to stick to the 510 thread size since thats what all my other stuff is. I want it to be compatible, nothing fancy, it will primarily be used just at home. Any input would be great.

As an RC enthusiast give it a try with your NiMh 7.2 packs. You already have them and chargers.
A 4000mah 7.2v pack would be great to experiment with.
A 5 volt, 3 amp linear regulator for a couple of bucks, a switch is a buck or two, a 510 connector is about a buck, who needs lights? Put it in a shoe box to test it out :)

You should be able to "play" for $10 or so. Then decide where to go from there.
Money spent on e-cig stuff is probably better than spending it on RC stuff :)
