Okay guys, can you point me in the direction of good/great mech mod batteries please?
My suggestion, stay away from China vendors when purchasing batteries. It's way too easy to get knockoffs instead of the real thing. Unless you need batteries today or tomorrow, go to the Vapor Joe's website daily. Get any of the high amp rate discharge battery deals he mentions. The latest was a pair of Sony VTC5 with plastic case for $20 from mount baker Vapor, an e-liquid vendor. That was about a week ago and I have no idea if they have any left. I'd say that battery deals show up at a rate of 2 deals every 3 weeks. I don't think all the deals for batteries are of the 'biggest savings ever' category but rather the 'very good batteries for a good price.' Remember to also buy a decent charger for your new batteries.

I have more than a few friends running the Nemesis clones, but I picked up the $10 Sentinel M16 clone.

It's running an IGO-W quad build at .19 and it toots like a champ.

FOr being $10, I ordered it more to check out how bad a clone this cheap could be, but I've been running it for the last 4 days because it's been a nice little clone.

I'm thinking about torching the shiny bits just to spice it up a bit now.

I thought that the $10 version was aluminum. So torching would be a bad idea. Also be careful with the threads.

I have a real M16 and a couple clones... brass. Yes hard hitter and for the money yep as well, but i prefer the Neme design best of all the mechs because you don't have to worry about top pin positioning much since the bottom cap snugs the batt... just make sure the top pin is touching your atomizer pos. connector and you are good to go; magnet fix is a must imo.

why does it matter?
- lots of difference in 18650 batt lengths; especially AW IMR 1600 (which btw are 15C rated which comes out to 24amps max)... I've researched this because they have been my batt of choice since 2010 before sub ohms.
Lots of vendors still have them listed as 10C rating which misses the fact that they upgraded in 2011... got word from AW himself.
I know someone is going to ask how you do the calculating for 24 amp, and I have to say that someone much smarter than me did the equation and he knows his stuff.
Suffice it to say real AW 1600's are safe for sub ohms vaping... and they are better than the 2000 AW IMRs as well.

back to Neme's... brass clones work as well as the real ( i could cry for the $$$ spent on my NB Neme's ) and if you want low v drop brass is the way to go.

I end up not using my M16's much because the bottom buttons come undone a lot and the pins need cleaning a bunch but yeah you really can't go wrong with the sentinel clones... brass is best imo.

Turns out it IS aluminum. So now I'm going to try using plastidip on some of the shiny bits. Unfortunately I only have yellow, hi-viz orange and some black. No idea what I'm going to be able to pull off here.

Not sure if I put in my suggestion in for this thread but I'll also suggest the Nemesis from FastTech. Stainless if you're abusive, brass if you like the looks, "gun metal" (on any other mod it's called black chrome) for a really flashy look or copper for lowest voltage drop. If you do order the Nemesis do yourself a favor, pick up the 10 pack of magnets for a few bucks and strongly consider getting the Kayfun hybrid if you think you'll be getting a full sized Kayfun or the pseudo hybrid kit which works with a huge variety of regular toppers with adjustable 510 and lastly the 3D dripper which hybrids with the Nemesis.

The Stingray from FastTech is decent, they even have 2 different versions of the extremely popular black over copper (but 1 is the Skorite version, undesirable) and come in stainless, copper and brass. But quality wise they're just decent, other companies and distributors have better versions.

I have a few mods in my household, including the King, the Hammer, the Silver Bullet, and the Nemesis. But for some reason, my K100 Telescopic Clone Mod is a little ... kicker! I use an 18650 battery with it, along with IGO-W atty (dual coil/cotton wick) and it just fires like a champ. I've tried the topper on all of our mods, as well as a few others, and the K100 definitely rocks my world. Seems crazy that a clone would work this well. The King is great too - but a little big and heavy for me. My husband adores the Hammer and switches between that, the Silver Bullet, and the Nemesis. My only words of advice with the Nemesis is that the button can be a bit sticky.

K100 Telescoping Clone - Found 87 k100 at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
Nemesis Clone - $18.46 Nemesis Style Mechanical Mod - 18350/18500/18650 mod / stainless steel at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
Hammer - $20.43 Hammer Style Mechanical Mod - 1*18350 / chromed brass at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
IGO-W Atty - $5.68 IGO-W Style Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I'm loving my FT Mutant 26650. Admittedly my first mod.. but god it's lovely.. bought an 18650 Nemesis after I got the Mutant and I've barely touched it. The closest thing I've found to a problem is that my FT 30mm Kayfun Lite tends to bind to the Mutant top cap, but I think that's the Kayfun rather than the Mutant.
