I'm almost 50, heavy smoker for over 30 years, and I bought a ego about 3 weeks ago.

I was smoking 3 packs a day, sometimes more, before the PV. Now I'm vaping and smoking both, but I'm down to 1 or 1.5 packs a day. (I've smoked 16 cigs today.) Overnight, as soon as I got the ego, I dropped down to that 1-1.5 range, without trying, and I've stayed roughly there for 3 weeks. I think I smoked 2 packs one day - but that day was an exception.

I'm not pushing myself very much. I vape when I want to vape, or smoke when I want to smoke. Sometimes, I do smoke a cig by lighting it out of habit, without thinking about it, and immediately think "Damn, I'd have been fine vaping, I wish I hadn't lit this." I consider that a very good sign. It means that as time goes on, I'll probably cut down the cigs even more, and that eventually my habit will be to reach for the PV, not the cigs.

Before I started vaping, I'd have you that I was going to smoke all my life. I simply didn't think it was possible for me to quit. But I don't feel that way anymore.

I don't plan to force it, at least for awhile. Maybe, if I get to 2 or 3 months of vaping, if I haven't seen my smoking taper off, I'll start to actually work at it. But so far, the results have been pretty good without telling myself that I can't smoke. Realistically, if I stayed at 1 pack a day, I'm still way ahead compared to before. I think I'll probably gradually drop the cigs without having to push it too much.

Right after eating a meal is likely to be hard for me. I've been trying to vape a bit after I eat - but the craving for a cig is very strong then, and it doesn't take long before I have to light up.

I've been off analogs for over six months, now and I'm having no urges for them at all.

It took me about two weeks to transition between cigarettes and the first model of e-cigarette I got. That was the most difficult part. I found I needed to use the 24 mg to truly satisfy my nicotine craving. I also had to completely stop buying cigarettes- if I gave myself a choice between the two, I'd often choose a cigarette. The key was not giving myself the choice and using the e-cigarette with enough determination that I eventually felt more comfortable with it than tobacco.

I've had a couple of anxious dreams that I "accidentally" smoked a real cigarette, but even around smokers I have no urge to light up.

When I started vaping I used 24mg, moved up to 30mg, then 36mg, killed the craving.
I've dropped the levels back to 24mg since (sloooowly) :)

After a year and 19 days, I still think about having a cig daily, but vaping is what I do.

This.

It's been three weeks for me as well and I still think about lighting up an analog once a day or so - but I don't have to act on everything my addicted brain tells me to do :D

Since the spousal unit quit four days ago there are no analogs in the house any more, the ashtrays are all washed and put away and it's okay for me to have that little twinge of craving for an analog once in awhile. I don't have to act on it, though ;)

Best of luck -

Been using an e cig for about 2 months now, and occasionally do crave a cig. Sometimes I miss using a lighter too lol!

I had to go find a lighter to light the @#$% barbecue grill yesterday

This. I have been vaping at 18 mg, but yesterday I ordered 24 mg b/c I want to get serious about NO analogs, very soon.

Plus, I have a sister living with me who still smokes (although I gave her a couple of my 808 batts and juice and she's cut down significantly) and as long as she's with me, I doubt I could quit completely. I have another sister who does NOT live with me, she has quit analogs totally with vaping (and introduced me to it) so I know if she can do it, I can too because I'M THE BIG SISTER :)

Try putting your cigarettes and lighter slightly out of reach, and your PV easily within reach. That way, you don't unthinkingly light the cigarette instead of vaping. Make each cigarette a decision to smoke, rather than unconscious or accidental.

That also can prevent you from accidentally using your lighter to light the end of your PV!

None.:( But I'm going to. The huge hints I threw for my birthday didn't work. Seriously, if I don't buy massive amounts of juice and other crapola I could have gotten a Reo.

I'm pretty happy with my ego. But I do want to try a Reo.

Swede, try and Old Goat. I know I know, cheap /grin. BUT for 30 bucks you can decide if bottom feeders are for you. Not everyone LIKES a bottom feeder. I LOVE them. 306 atty with an OG is great. THEN if you like the Bottom feeders, get a Reo!

I kept a dirty ashtray around for a while. If the craving hit, I'd take a whiff for instant aversion therapy!

I've been vaping for almost 11 months and I got hit with some mad cravings for a cigarette last month! I bumped my nic level back up to 24mg and it knocked the cravings right out. Now I'm back to vaping both 18mg and 24mg and I'll eventually get back to vaping 18mg exclusively. Thank the gods for DIY, otherwise I might have given in to the cigarettes!

Today is my third day of vaping. Yesterday I smoked an analog thinking it would calm me during a stressful moment. It was interesting to note that the sensation wasn't significantly different from just vaping. I'll see how I do today. I don't think I'll be tempted as much if I can hold that memory. I pretty much have to quit analogs. My health just took a nose dive in the last two weeks. I want to salvage what I can.
