I chose to stick to the original specs... the biggest lure to me was being able to use the 18650 battery for longer life. With my SD, I have to switch out batteries probably 4 times per day.

Then I started thinking that 5v would be nice... considered ordering a second at the new specs...

And then I decided I'll try my hand at my first mod. I'm going to work on a box that uses two 18650's in series with a low voltage regulator... 5v with 2600mAh capacity! Of course, I haven't soldered in years and I no longer have steady hands. I'm not sure how I'm going to get an atty connection on there.

Oh well, if it doesn't work I can always order another one. I wish he'd come out with a design that utilized a rheostat to switch between 3.7v and 5v.

Kept the original specs , decided that i would use the 3.7 volt most of all. 6 volts for fun once in a blue moon, but i really wanted the battery life over and above anything else. Plus i can get a 5volt Prodigy anytime, yet i believe Cash will not offer the original specs again. I stand to be corrected though. Its like with my PS3's, my launch 60gb has 4 usb's,plays all ps2 games and plays SACD's, my brand new 80gb has 2usb's,plays no ps2 games and does not play SACD's. I would always choose my 60gb even at a premiun price because its more versatile. I love having the newest gadgets on the block. Remember the old guy saying...Those who die with the most toys WINS

Reason 1. I definitly want to use carts, Cuz I don't wanna drip constanly and I think 5V is likely better for use with carts.

Reason 2. After hearing Steve talk about the pair of rcr123a's that they came accrossed putting out 8+V... Decided the regulated circuitry would help level out large variations in different batteries, providing a measure of protection for my atomizers and carts.

Reason 3. I'm pretty satisfied with my 801 and a freshly charged battery for the first few pulls, (at peak voltage... ~4.2V) and a slight bump to ~5V would probably get me to Vapin Nirvana, while preserving alot of the flavor, that I spent so much time perfecting.

Reason 4. I figure if I'm not completely satisfied and want to try the higher voltage in the future... It's always easier to pull the resistor out rather than send the unit back to get it added if 6V+ is too much for my atomizers or throat.

I went with the 5v version as well. I have a mag mod and 6v is nice and impressive but more than anything else it is a sure fire way to deplete your juice supply rapidly. I liked the original configuration because of the 3.7v option but the prospect of a portable device running at 5v proved to be more than I could resist. The 18650 batteries I have will have to wait until a mod or something...

On a side note:
I like the fact that the Fry's Electronics right down the road from me carries rechargeable cr123 3v batteries. So it is nice to have a device I can source batteries for locally.
