Tried a rechargeable cigalike before to see if it was a viable money saver, used it here and there. Saw a friend of a friend with a Reo Grand a couple months ago (first mod I had ever saw) and finally got around to looking into it.

Went and got a twist/c-tank starter kit and some clearos/carts after some research. Had one cigarette after a meal on the second day to see what it would feel like, then another when someone asked me to go burn at work the next night. Did nothing for me, I thought I was done.

Yesterday, the ultimate test came. I started smoking 16 years ago because I had always loved the smell of the initial light of someone else's cig. Spent the day with 2 friends who smoke, still love that initial smell. Midday I thought I had a taste for a cig, then I realized I had my twist in my pocket, hit that, knew I am done with analogs.

13 days and already verified my suspicions. Glad my first mod came in the mail today, mini vv nova sitting on an ego apv v2 with some 24mg all PG energy cow I had mixed down to 18mg with VG for less TH, better plumes/taste (too sweet), and less nic.

Finding your own "The Test" is the only way I see to be sure. Half a pack of wides going stale in the center console because I keep forgetting to toss em out.

I think the emphasis on PV as in serious purchase rather than cheap cigalike will show a much better success rate.

me too, me too LOL.
My first e-cig was a Thermovape 6 volt mod with AVA HR atty, I was addicted to vaping immediately, what a taste!
3 weeks into it the atty failed (Thermovape took care of the warranty), I went cold turkey almost 2 days before I could get a knock off ego batteries and some ce2 cartos to get by while waiting for Thermovape. I learned it the hard way for not having back up!
Then I got some ego twist vv + stardusts, but they don't taste the best imho!!
Now I am using Provari v2 + the DID+ Gemini rba and AVA attys for dripping..........4 months into vaping and loving it!

Thanks to everyone at ECF.

When I first started vaping, one of the only big mods available was the Screwdriver and it was always out of stock. My first kit was a 510 manual battery. This was in Slender September 2009. I cut down from a pack a day to around three to five cigarettes a day. In November, I got a Silver Bullet, which went out of stock almost immediately. Once I received it, I liked it so much I stopped smoking entirely. It's been almost three years now...

Just like Zapped said, this doesn't work 100% immediately for everyone.
Think of it as switching brands.
I've been seriously vaping for 9 months now. Down to 1-2 cigarettes per week (NOT PACKS...cigarettes!!). And every time I smoke one, I think "why'd I do that?" No flavor, no throat hit, stinky, waste of time...
Good luck my friend.
Keep coming back to ECF & let us know your progress.

Hoping I can get off analogs right away, maybe input could give me motivation for that? Plus I'm simply curious.

You are setting yourself up for failure by expecting to be able to quit smoking immediately. Do yourself a favor and don't put any focus on quitting until you find equipment that works well for your needs and you have also found juice that you like. Then quitting will be ever so much easier as you will likely prefer vaping to smoking.

I gave up my 2+ pack a day smoking habit from vape one with no cravings. However, the stars aligned for me in that I found the right gear and some great juices right away. If I hadn't been so fortunate I would have smoked whenever I felt like it until I had what I needed to make quitting a reasonably achievable goal.

I have a two part answer for you: I smoked and vaped at the same time for 6 months. I eventually got down to my next to last pack and decided it would be my last. I timed it so the last cigarette out of that pack would be ready for smoking just before bed, and first thing the next morning I went straight to vaping. The hardest part was really only thinking about cigarettes, but I went on my normal breaks and vaped instead - and whenever I thought about a cigarette, I just thought NO. (I must have done that thousands of times in the first month.) Now it's MUCH easier, of course.

Part two of my answer: During the last 4 months where I only vaped, I took those breaks with a smoke buddy (and a friend). She asked questions and I even let her try a puff or two, but she kept smoking. She then noticed how I don't stink anymore, and I guess she felt self-conscious about it anyway. About two weeks ago, she asked me for recommendations because she wanted to try it out, and I pointed her in the right direction. She IMMEDIATELY quit and hasn't smoked or craved smoking since.

Sorry for the long post, but it is after all a two part question. :)

I did, and after smoking for 28 yrs I found it so much easier than I thought it would be. Had it in my head that I wasn't really giving up smoking...just moving sideways to a healthier, less smelly/messy/time consuming (was on roll-ups) alternative so I suppose that helped as I saw all the pros with no cons. Can honestly say that unless e-cigs are banned I won't go back to analogues....good luck to you...you can do it!! :)

I posted this before somewhere LOL, but I found quitting (changing to vaping ie:) after 50 some years of smoking was not hard at all.

Quitting the smoking habit is easy, I did it hundreds of times

It only took a few days for me. After a few days of vaping, regular cigarettes tasted really bad.

I took a bit different route to e-cigs.

I had stopped smoking, but used smokeless tobacco and Snus and nicorette lozenges to get my nicotine fix. I would've preferred to smoke and missed it, but those in my life wouldn't have appreciated it.

My first e-cig was something that I bought in a convenience store and it was enough to remind me that I missed the mouth feel and the habit itself. I moved up to other devices and tried different flavors.

Nowadays, I'm analog-proofed because smoking a cigarette means reverting to lousy-tasting stuff that doesn't produce the sheer volume of vapor that a good e-cig can.
