Who thinks ECF needs to add a dislike button?

Okay, I wasn't clear, what I meant was, when you read a post containing misinformation / bad advice you can quote it and correct it, to me that is the dislike button.

Yeah, it would only work if people took it seriously... But In my experience with this forum MOST people on this forum are here to genuinely help and not just for comedic value.

I often see help and comedic comments in equal amounts. But that's what makes it a great forum, you get an answer and a laugh usually

Now, if we have a "grope" button, then I most definitely want a "slap groper in face" button
But I do agree with the "bacon" button - everything is so much better with bacon

I've moderated a bbs before, and we had "flag" buttons, and done all of that and it just makes for "wars" and cliques then gang up on members they don't like, etc,

One of the things as a newbie I like here is the civility and friendliness of the place.

In multiple posts, since the beginning I already agreed with other members that a dislike button wouldn't be a good idea and said at least 2-3x this was more of me just ranting and this was about safety and new members recommending mechs and sub-ohming to noobs who weren't even asking about them.

So I really don't get the point of your comment since it's not even relevant in any way. How does that even relate to trying to prevent possible safety issues for new inexperienced users, from trying to filter out bad advice from other members?

Looks like your just trying to be condescending and sarcastic and even without a dislike button, you seem like you'd do a good job all by yourself making this a hostile forum the 1 month you been a member on ECF.

No need for you to respond, because I will no longer waste my time replying to you in any thread on ECF.

I was on a forum for an entirely different subject, and they instituted a "reputaion" score. Kinda like "like" and "dislike", but it tallied up over time.

Things got wildly out of control with anger and vitriol. Then the mods jumped in and gave some people thousands of negative points on their "rep".

I just reserve the right to dislike my own posts (thank you very much).....

I didn't read the whole thread, but I think criticism needs to be explained. Perhaps hit the quote reply button and explain why advice might be bad? Just takes a few moments and is ultimately way more helpful than a dislike button. Agreement is one thing, but disagreement demands an explanation. Then we all learn together.

I just think there's too many people that would feel empowered with a dislike button. There's people that press the "thumbs down" button on cheezeburger pics of puppies. How in the world can someone dislike a puppy? REALLY! Puppies????

A "Bacon" button is an awesome idea. (Of course, I'd be mighty peeved if when I pressed it I didn't get any Bacon)
