Why are a lot of people obsessed with vaping at high W?

There are many times throughout the day where I will vape at 130 watts, mainly because when I am using a TFV12 tank, for me, 130 watts is the sweet spot. The coil doesn't weigh 8oz, and I have nothing to prove. I will vape at 130 watts because it is what I prefer, and it keeps me from smoking. Sorry for not fitting into your stereotype of those who vape at higher wattages, i.e. differently than you do. ;)

Ah man, you don't have to apologize for anything. My opinion wasn't a hand crafted insult to your personal vaping style. So I would subscribe to you not to take it as such! I personally only hold people into two different categories in life.... intelligent or not intelligent ;) ;) I guess my euphemism on the 8oz coil was a little too sarcastic for consumption?

There was a really awesome thread here back in 2012 or 13 on coil temps and how the correlate to wire gauges. You can take said 130W and vape all day long on with a sizable coil (maybe a fused clapton or bigger, whatever its just an example) and for sake of more argument, lets say that coil temp only reached 475f. Take that same 130w and pop a dual 28g - 30g micro coil in it and the coils will melt in a flash over double of the previous temperature, you'll see spots from the flash and your cotton will catch on fire instantly.

So the moral to this story kids is.... watts means jack! It's just a unit of measurement in the vaping formula to get a coil to a desired temperature. The bigger the mass of the coil, the more wattage it will to get to whatever temp you like best. The bigger the mass of the coil the more vapor it will produce but also needs more airflow.

It's when people start throwing wattage around like some measurement of how cool they are or their social rank that then they get moved into the later of my life categorization. For the majority, I would speculate that either you have 10w or 100w with the appropriate coil size to the wattage.... that the coil temps will fall into same temperature ranges. Higher if you are a little more into the extreme enthusiast realm but I digress. We know 2 things....well at least I do. PG and VG has a vaporization point and ignition temp. Regardless of the wattage or what you think is best, you have to fall between the vaporization and ignition points of the liquid.

This is why.... watts means jack!
...unless you are using it as a measurement of how cool "you think" you are!!

Now I am putting my soapbox back in the closet ;)

Nic`d Up in Oklahoma!
I smoked cigars for 10 or so years at the end. After playing around with vaping during the first year, trying to find my personal sweet spot, I settled in nicely using single battery tube mods and .2oh dual coils on rda`s. Closet thing I could find to the cigar experience.

The fact that I preferred a 50 to 60 ring gauge helped, LOL.

But, the California Claw took some adaptation, but it feels like home now.

:?)

That's not clouding up a room...don't be silly.

It takes more than a single puff, but I have yet to see any build that can cloud up an entire room in a single puff. The point is yes, you can blow quite large clouds using just a Nautilus.... but you do have to know what you're doing.

edit: that's also not a Nautilus @12w.

Don't try to play the pedantic game just because you were wrong. 19W is clearly no where near the 100+W you're implying that you need. It's not the same as my RTA with dual claptons at 120W, but it's a good, dense cloud for being a Nautilus.

And you should see what I can do with that Nautilus with the Airflow Control Ring removed and TC coils in it. Takes a long draw but I can easily blow clouds twice that size with just a Nautilus.

HOW DO YOU VAPE IN A THEATER AND NOBODY NOTICES???!?!?!?!? I vape in my man cave and while it looks cool it is clearly noticeable because the image from my PJ is shot through the fog... and i have my seating set at what would be considered just past the 1/3 mark in a theater on my 126" screen as far as immersion goes.

You go up to the top row, vape at 8w to 10w and blow it down. The view is great, the screen's directly in front of you (instead of making you look upwards), and everyone's looking at the screen, not you!

Wow I can't do the pg like that you a better man than me brother lol and I like the 56'goldtop in your pic I own one myself what a wonderful instrument

I used to be a Strat Player. I bought the Strat in 1979. My wife bought me a Burgundy Les Paul in 1994 and I was hooked. Somewhere around 2010 I bought the Goldtop and later on a Flametop. At the risk of being off topic, I'll post a picture of my guitars :).

Once I vaped 90pg/10vg. Sometimes, I mix at 60pg/40vg. 70/30 is my sweet spot these days. You get a little throat hit with very low wattage and the MTL exhale is something like a Marlboro. It's actually a nice, mellow vape when you keep it real at 10W.

My coils are 28ga/10 wraps/2.5mm on a Kayfun. These days I'm mostly vaping TC with a max 400F. I usually hit in the 350F +/- range where it's safer, according to those who test for Acrolein. I can vape constantly all day with about 10ml juice consumption. It's always in my hand or in my pocket.

I'm being pedantic? I'm wrong? LOL Way to completely overlook half of my post while picking apart one sentence in it.

I get it. You're a tootle puffer. Don't project your ultra low wattage vaping on my post. And speaking of pedantics: you're arguing you can duplicate what alien claptons at 120w can do ...sure...its 5 puffs vs your what, 20 or so? Give me a break.

Did I once say people NEED TO VAPE AT 120W? You really need to re-read posts before going on the offensive lol.

@smacksy will get a giggle from this....

I have a strategy mini, a full size strat, a guild Burnside Teleshape, a Fender jagmaster, a d400 fender acoustic, 53 harmony 4 string tenor, a 63 Fandel 12 string electric, a harmony melody maker copy, and I'm looking to pick up a yamaha NTX 700 when money gets a little better unfortunately most of my collection are all restoration projects I picked up at garage sales, except the goldtop, Jagmaster, strat mini, and the Guild. I think the goldtop is probably my favorite though it is such a great instrument I played it and the Gibson model side by side and had the money for the Gibson model and thought the epiphone played better

The right hardware and wattage is whatever keeps you off the cigarettes and satisfies your version of what vaping was designed to be.

There's no correct or incorrect way to vape as long as you do it safely without creating Acrolein or other harmful products of high temperatures in your vapor.

When I started vaping a buddy said I was weak for vaping at only 13 watts. I told him to take a hit off my little subtank mini and laughed as he coughed on my 36mg nic menthol juice lol.

Many times those high nic juices are high PG also.

If I vaped zero nic at 36% PG I'd be coughing til I puked.

36mg at 13w in a VG base wouldn't satisfy me any but wouldn't make me cough.

30% is all I can handle I do not like the TH I get from PG and have found the PG is the flavor carrier to be nonsense in my opinion. I buy many VGD or VG Dominant Flavorings for my DIY.

That PG as a flavor thing got all turned around. Its a good carrier as in carry it to your house not to your mouth.

PG actually tastes disgusting. If you've never tried it just take a tiny taste of it. It tastes like raw chemicals. Gross stuff for flavor and bad for me at least

Plain VG has no flavor but rather a mild sweetness.

Actually I am sorry to say I did taste PG when I got distracted mixing DIY I thought I did not dry out my beaker and there was liquid in the bottom which was PG and I stuck a fingertip in it. Thank goodness I have a fridge in the basement to get a quick drink!

I'm sorry to ask this, but is has to be done. After sticking your finger in the leftover PG, what possessed you to then place your finger in your mouth?:D

No it wasn't leftover I always start my DIY with PG 1st and I thought I just did not dry the beaker as I use so little pg I thought it might have been water. Found out it wasn't real fast and it was the tiniest little bit on the tip of my finger.
