Why are we (vapers) so cheap?

I can get the cheap ones that my sister still smokes for 3 packs for $7.50 after tax, or there is actually some a bit cheaper, and the ryo I smoked I could get a bag of that for $6.50 that was enough to last me a week. So while this is cheaper than smoking in many areas, it's not for someone like me. Add to that lack of income and ok I might like a lot of the items out, what I like and what I buy is 2 different things tho.

If people want to call me cheap because of it, that's fine. They aren't supporting me, I am.

It continues to amaze me how cheap people are about buying PV's, cartos, tanks, juice, etc. I understand that, when starting out, people are confused and don't want to buy the "wrong" kit. (I was the same way.) But some people seem to suffer from paralysis by analysis and research for weeks or even months to avoid "wasting" money on the "wrong" kit. Meanwhile, how much are they spending on cigarettes?

So many people seem to be obsessed with getting the absolute cheapest price, and will go buy overpriced cigarettes (at $6 a pack or whatever) while they wait for an internet order, just to avoid paying an extra few bucks to source juice or accessories locally.

I don't get it. Most of us wasted thousands of $$ on cigarettes in our lifetimes. (I don't even want to think how much my cigarette bill was.) Why do we fret and worry so much about plunking down $50 for a starter KGO or EGO kit just because it MIGHT not be the PV we ultimately take to our grave?
Cheap? I'm going to need a suitcase to take my vapeing gear to the grave.

I think it's less about being cheap as opposed to how much money might have been "wasted" in the beginning. That's not to say the first couple kits you buy are a waste but most people don't start off with a mod or anything like that. The amount of money I've spent just to get to the set up that I am at now was a lot more than I spent on cigarettes. But now I am happy because I have something that works for me. I even more happy because of where I came from. I look at it like buying a hybrid car. It's a lot of money up front but not so much as the years go by and I just hit year 1 of vaping so yeah.

837.00 saved in 6 months is 1674.00/year saved-

not really too shabby? :D Better than flushing that money on ashes.

You have to balance that against the 1600 he spent on vaping though. In which case it isnt much money at all. Actually if he has been vaping only 6 months, he's in the red. But money isnt the biggest concern id imagine.

Somewhere out there
I have probably spent way more than I want to know right now on vaping, but once I decided it was what I wanted to do and it helped me feel so much better, I didn't sweat the cost. I spent $1200 a year on analogs for 35 ys, that total is my vape buget, so that is $42,000. I have not come even close to that! LOL I have a Provari now and some VV egos and glass tanks and it is my fav vape set up. I love it and every penny spent on vaping and not analogs is a bargain for my health. I say reward yourself often and get what works for you! Enjoy the vape ride :) bnrk

You are right! I'm going to quit thinking about and just get that darn Ego-twist everyone is raving about. I could use an affordable VV right now!

Why buy one, when you can have 3? :p

It's the new frontier .. I don't think it's cheapness as much as it is fear of buying the wrong thing .. after all, there is a lot of selection out there these days .. a far cry from when I started with a N-Joy ..

You don't have to spend a lot of money .. and certainly it can save you money after you find what works for you ..

We agonize over the new TV, the cell phone, the new stereo, the shoes .. why not the PV .. ?? Let's just be glad we still have plenty of choices ..

We're only human ..

I don't know about anyone else, but I started out with a blu kit. Bought it immediately after trying a blu disposable, and before I found this site.

I then did a bit of research and ended up with an ego-c kit, figuring that at worst it's a great backup for when I finally dediced on what fancy mod I was going to buy.

Then I started researching mods, and found out the industry is in a kind of flux right now, with new models coming out almost daily, most with some sort of problems which were being addressed. So I decided to wait it out as the ego system was meeting my short term needs.

I did want to try VV, but wasn't going to make a move because of the situation detailed above. Then I stumbled across the Ego Twist. At <$30, I figured it was a great way to get VV until I decided which mod to go to, so I ordered one. It worked so well, I ordered another, and have for now abandonded the idea of getting a more expensive mod. The voltage range is perfect for me using the ~2.2 ohm C attys, and I love the form factor. The 1000mah battery lasts most of the day (depending on the day and how much I vape), and the second one ensures I always have a VV device ready to go. And I still have the original ego batts in a pinch.

With things changing so fast as far as new APVs, and new updates, I may eventually go with a different APV sometime in the future, but as of now I have no desire to change.

It's not the money with me. Here in Jersey, cigarettes were around 8 bucks a pack, and I was spending around 150-180 a month on analogs. For me, it's much more about ease of use, convenience, and reliability. I have that with the twists and the C atty/tank system, and I'm very satisfied for now.

The bigger problem is finding juices that I want to put into a regular rotation :).

Cheap? CHEAP? How can anyone say cheap?!?!?

Look, how many of ya'll went into vaping knowing that it would work and get ya off of 'bakky? Raise your PVs if ya knew fer sure! Still waitin'...

Vaping, besides being heath positive vs. smoking, is an affordable hobby fer me. But I've grown tired of 'chasing the end of da rainbow'. Yes, I've spent a load, but less than smokin', in my quest for da perfect vape. But, I'm no longer buying the 'latest and greatest' 'cause I hate being a Beta tester!!! I also totally resent some of the HYPE that a few vendors flood the market with, with their holy grail 'promises'.

Cuttin' my post short... Look, what got ya off 'bakky? What has IMPROVED your vaping pleasure without modifying this or that? What device has garnered positive reviews over at least 90 days? Not many of those without revision X.xx!

At this point in my vaping, I'm not cheap, just experienced, frugal and aware of what satisfies my vaping needs!

$pend on...

Just goes to show what happened to the price cigarettes over time. I smoked for 15 years, and spent $35,000+. That's figuring an average of 2 packs a day, at an average of $3.25 a pack, for 15 years.

Why buy one, when you can have 3? :p

no amount of money can buy back your health or your time on this earth. if you think $1000 is alot for a GGTS ODY is expensive.. try spending $1000 dollars to buy even one good day of health.

juts a thought... I still think $1000 GG is some crazy amount... but the GG bug hasnt bitten me....yet

Twist is great. I just find the 1000mah to be a little bulky for carrying around all day when I am at work or out and about, thus my collection shown above. The 650mah easily covers my wake, commute, breaks at work, commute back home with no problems. The blue one even last for a good while after I got home, so I think my usage is going to be 1000mah sitting at home, and when I get back home, I'll use whichever 650 is in rotation while the 1000mah charges and then switch out. I'm not super paranoid about battery charging, but I'm also not gonna "take any chances" and charge one while I'm gone all day to work. :)

I started with one 650mah Twist in black. Found the blue one online and got it. Then added the 1000mah blue with yesterday's vapemail. I'm feeling "just right" for batteries I need. Want is another story. :) They have the Twist in red and green as well. Accessorizing with your PV is a must of course. :)

My first ecig was a stealth kit from E Cigarettes By Choice 7's (well, their previous site, this one is their new one.)

Looking at the price, retrospectively, I paid as much for this crap as I did for my KGO kit.

To be fair their juice is okay, and not unreasonably priced. But christ, $80 for a battery that'll last you maybe three hours.

I think that anybody whose gotten seriously into vaping has a moment where they have this revelation that they paid too much for too little at first because they didn't know any better. While I'll be happily ordering a $53 bottle of gorilla juice from ave come thursday, and another $40 in cartos, rubber mouthpieces and a jtank skirt from myvaporstore.com, I'm not going to shell out on the newest best trendy stuff just because it's there. I don't know that having a VV will improve my vaping experience. I don't know that having a $50 pretty shiny tank will be worth it.

Right now I'm more worried about the more affordable and small scale project of finding a handful of juices to keep me happy, and THEN maybe i'll look at other hardware options, such as the ego-c tank system, or maybe an ego twist. But I'm not going to shell out that much money on something just because some random OP on a forum thinks i ought to.

And I just found out the vendor I use the most these days is getting them in both red and green soon. Thankfully his prices are out of this world, so it won't hurt the bank account too much.

Maybe I need to recalculate my theory of break even. I know I've broken even against all the hardware I've bought, just still in the hole against the juice being in the math. Ah, bunk it, I feel better every day, so I've broken even in my book. :)
