my story is an odd one, i was with my girlfriend (a non-smoker) and we came across a disposable at dollar general, it claimed it would last 2 days which it did and it only cost $7 so i figured what do i have to lose, i was able to vape it around her without bothering her and well ordered a kit when i got home, then started upgrading, i ended up quitting a week into it smoked my last cigarette on my birthday which was my 5 year smoking mark.

i enjoyed smoking and never wanted to quit... that's the crazy part

Well..I know this may sound odd..but I started vaping...because I like to try new things. If a new Electronic gadget comes out, I wanna try it! Yea, yea, I know all about the dangers of smoking...watched my Dad die a slow and painful death of Lung Cancer from smoking Camel Non filters for over 30 years..he died in 06...didn't really even think about stopping then..I've been smoking for 15+ years...actually enjoyed smoking...the smell, not so much. Anyhow, started seeing all the TV ads about Cig a lites and vaping..was fixing to buy a look like a cig one, then found this site and the great folks here helped me choose a better start up..got all my gear in and can honestly say I have not smoked a Cig since the day my stuff came in and started Vaping.

I was getting tired of paying high $$ for Tobacco...Hubby started Rolling our Cigs about a year ago to save on Cash. He smoked for over 40 years...we both took up on Vaping the same day, and neither of us have had a Real cig in over 50 days.

I started vaping because I enjoy out door activities and I started getting winded with everything I do even changing the tires on my car. I use to be able to run 5 miles a day and smoke but those days have been long gone and I miss it. I am up to 3 miles a day again after switching. I barely lasted 1/4 mile when I was on analogs. Plus I keep getting girls tell me I smell SWEET!

Congrats to all....the stories on here and throughout the threads are just amazing. I read these frequently to help reinforce all the good things that are happening to me as well. Keep 'em comin' people. If you think about it, your story might just be the one that gets`somebody over the edge and convinces them to stop the cigarettes, or helps somebody to stay off of them...

Im 56 years old and have been a smoker since age 17.
I have yet to really start vaping. Just ordered gear, because two people I know have successfully
transitioned to vaping. One was a two PAD smoker and hasn't had a analog since December.
I have all the reasons others have noted, stigma, smell and cost. But I really need to quit for health reasons.

Three years ago I was working in a high stress IT position at a hospital. I was and and still am to a lesser extent
hypertensive, smoking 1 to 1.5 PAD and forty pounds overweight. One day my blood pressure got so high that I went
to the ER, short, since I worked at a hospital. BP was 268/180 which it likely to leave you a drooling idiot wearing a diaper or dead,
if not quickly brought down. What did happen as a a result of the medication administered was some plaque broke free and blocked
the small blood vessels that feed the retina. I was Ray Charles. Stevie Wonder blind. I lived the life of a sightless person for about
a year and a half and had a trainer provided by the state that helped me learn how to do household tasks for myself.

After several surgeries I did regain good usable sight, and I was determined to make some changes in my life. I exercise on a regular
basis. Nordic Walking, Russian Kettlebell, Clubbell and TRX. I am still maintained some of my blind man super senses I developed. like dialing a phone my touch alone, and my friend and family are often suprized when they find me standing in the open door when they drive up. I can tell by sound with a car door shuts in my driveway.

I had been an expert in several martial arts and know how to work out.
I have lost about 40 pounds and I my health is much improved. However I have failed at quitting smoking. Given what I have been
through I feel like an idiot every time I light up. I really think vaping is the solution that will help me reach that last goal. To give my self the best chance at success I am starting with a Provari. Thanks to what i have learned from the most helpful members of this site. I got my tracking number from Provape today. I did try some cheap gas station cigalikes and they tasted like ....

1. health
2. saving $
3. walking up the stairs without getting winded
4. never realized how truly awful I smelled but now that I know, this reason has been added to the list
5. no longer upsetting those around me who cared more about my health than I did at the time
there are so many reasons and perks to vaping vs. smoking and I think of more and more pros each day that I don't smoke. Just hit the 5 month marker. Woot Woot! I have quit for several months at time and have been vaping on and off for somewhere between 3 or 4 years but this is the longest I have ever gone without a cigarette since I started smoking 17 years ago. Totally elated!

My uncle who has smoked 2+ PAD for over 50 yrs, was diagnosed and operated on for lung cancer. He still smokes.
His wife, has emphysema and is on a couple inhalers, has oxygen in the house, and can't walk 30 feet without getting winded. She still smokes.
I've tried, I've got them eGo setups. Juice. They started and then stopped, complaining it wasn't "Like smoking."

I saw my ex-father-in-law die of COPD.

I don't want to go that route, if I can slim the chances down. So I quit. I don't cough anymore. I sleep better. My allergies are better.
I don't smell like a dead ashtray. My car is clean of the smell. People don't back off now that I don't smell like stale smoke.

Hope that helps with your reasons. :)

For my health, as well as the health of my friends and family. My grandfather died of COPD, and it was a rough way to go - I know that's not what he would want for me. I also hate the way cigarettes make my hair, hands, and clothes smell, and it makes me very self conscious about kissing my poor non-smoking boyfriend.

I started vaping (dual use) several months ago, and didn't get off cigarettes completely until I bit the bullet and invested in a volcano pass through and tank system. The next month I upgraded to the bigger variable voltage model. I haven't had a smoke in over a month, and I'm starting on the zero nicotine juice (just a few days). :)

I have to say that this has been the least stressful smoking cessation of my life thus far. I feel great! To me it seems like I'm slicing the problem up into manageable chunks. First the fire, then the nicotine, and eventually, the fiddling inhaling stuff habit......if I decide I want to.

That's pretty much my story here:

Shameful plug!

My biggest hurdle so far was my easiest part starting out: E Liquid. I know it's not a common problem....-Bwahahahaha!!!

Desert Ship was my first & I loved it. Still do. IN the same 1st shipment I had cotton candy, which I adored & started blending with Desert Ship, 65/35, Cotton Candy heavy. Bliss. I added, playing around, stuff like Honeydew Melon & others, which I can't remember anymore because the place I was buying form , like every other store in the known universe, went .... up on their supply & suddenly I had nothing. Because I started vaping just when the Chinese New year was in full bloom, I was screwed. Still am, basically. The store in my area still has never gotten back the stock I was used to, and IN Canada E Liquid isn't easy to deal with, But it's getting better now. It's been a nightmare , after the first 6 weeks which were so easy. My enjoyment of vaping is at 30% of what it was when I started & it's almost all about the juice, man. But that's what gets me thru; I have patience & I know that in 6 months all that will have settled & I'll have found the juices I like. So for now I just rotate like crazy. It's all about juices I can tolerate, a little bit at a time.

What can I say? Ad Astra Per Aspera.

I am 36. I was getting bronchitus on average twice per year. I finally went to see a doctor and she gave me meds and told me to imagine feeling that way everyday, all day because I was getting it from smoking and COPD was even worse. Decided to try an old cigalike I had used once or twice a few years prior... here I am.

Also:

Morning cough
Standing around in wierd places and feeling like a stalker or something
daughter used to literally "febreeze" herself after riding in the car with me... embarassing
