I agree with everything you said. Moreover I just don't know why some people feel like they have more of a right and a need to belittle others who choose to use nicotine and a better way to get nic right off the bat. I say that vaping is the right choice if you do decide to use nicotine. Why not? We use nicotine because we like the effect. That is the same reason why they use it. Simple.

Having quit and come back to nicotine a few times and in a few different delivery methods, I think the addiction is the appeal for me. As messed up as that sounds, here is the logic.

I could never replace what nicotine addiction did for me. It was a small goal I could accomplish, an easy craving to satisfy and that's a small victory in a world of big goals that take months of of work and wants/needs that take more than a few bucks and five minutes to quell. I didn't miss the effects of nicotine really, I miss what it represented...a multiple times a day small victory and a security blanket. The fact that it is also creating the problem (craving) it solved doesn't lessen that for me.

Addiction is a funny thing. Most people don't realize their caffeine addiction. Take it away for a week and they will eventually figure out where the headaches and feeling of being unsatisfied is coming from. I think most nicotine addicts (and we are addicts) are at least honest about it.

And you have long term studies that show what vaping will do to a normal person in 3 years, 5 years, longer? 3 different times in my life I have been told by doctors to take what was an over the counter medicine that should have been completely safe, only to have them pulled from the market within a year that I was taking it (they had been out for a number of years before that) because of rare untreatable illnesses they caused.

Safety is relative to what you are comparing something to. Anything can be dangerous for certain people or used a certain way. Regardless, adult's should be allowed to make informed decisions about what substances (legal) to put in their body.

I can't speak to your over the counter drug situation, too many variables there but I think my above statement stands.

If you watched that video you would have heard the doctor say that they have tested PG as far as back as 1940 and have several case studies that say it has no harm on us. Besides that, chips and cookies can have a negative effect on us in the long run. So you could just as easily pic on people that never ate a cookie for starting to eat cookies. It's just absurd to me. Just because something MAY have an effect years latter.... I don't get it. I doubt that they will suddenly find pg or vg for that matter to cause cancer.

Well one of them that I had been taking for about 8 months when it was pulled from the market, was derived from milk, it was a sleep aid, about 5 years after it was put on the market they found EVERYONE who had taken it for a year or longer developed a rare blood disorder that would kill them.

So do I think it is alright with saying something we don't know what could happen is safe for someone who isn't already killing themselves smoking, oh hell no.

Two things: If you werent trying to turn this into a pissing match then why are you STILL making comments like "when in fact, I probably know more than you do"?

And two: No one ever said they cant, we said they shouldnt and then other members attempted to scold us because we offended their sense of entitlement.

I think its probably best for both of us to continue this "debate" at a later time. Its getting late and seems like your feelings are getting raw.

My feelings are just fine!

I made that comment because you claim to know things about my intelligence that you have no idea of. You have tried to belittle me many times tonight in fact. It would seem you are just trying to incite some kind argument out of thin air, what with the making up of facts and all.

Again who are you to claim that someone shouldn't use nicotine. It is their choice. Nicotine alone has been proven many times to be perfectly safe in appropriate doses. The FDA in fact has studies that show that exactly, this is why it isn't banned like other substances.

Your comment that new vapers shouldn't use them means that you shouldn't either, and you should still be using cigarettes instead. Now you probably wouldn't like that would you?

Edit: Not only did you claim I had no knowledge on a subject, but when I proved you wrong you went back and deleted it from your original post. It is still in my quote of it though.

Yeah... but there is a lot of evidence and studies out there on the substances in e juice that conclue that they are non harmful. That they have not been tested in vaping is the only area. Altho... PG is in asthma meds that ARE in fact inhaled. And so there have been case studies that dictate that pg IS safe to be inhaled.

Since safe is a pretty absolute word for most people, not necessarily me but I do understand what you are getting at, I would think saying less harmful than smoking is probably a safe (lol) route to go.

The fact that vaping could have unknown health effects doesn't factor into how I feel about non-smokers starting to vape. If they're adults, it's on them to look at what info is or is not available and make the decision. Kind of like Splenda, we don't know what 20 years of replacing sugar with splenda in your diet will do to you. Lots of people are cool with that, some aren't...their prerogative.

Yes but those studies have not been done on the flavorings, we already know of a few things in some flavorings that may cause problems. And while PG is in asthma meds it does not mean everyone can use pg e-juices. Asthma meds are not heated to be inhaled which can change the chemical reaction.

I have asthma as well, but I can not vape higher than 40% pg juice without it causing me problems. Just read the forums you will see 100's of posts dealing with people who can not handle pg or high pg juices.

Gonna tell you a little story here.Indulge me and follow along for a bit.

A grandfather pulls his grandson to the side one day while theyre at the cemetery placing flowers on a grave and starts talking about his life. The two are very close and the grandfather admits to making some mistakes along the way.

He tells the kid that he started drinking when he was in the army to fit in with the rest of his platoon and then later on to forget the horrors of war and after awhile it becomes a part of who he is. He drinks every day but still functions and provides for his family. Over the years his alcoholism gets progressively worse and his doctor advises him many times to give it up.

He ignores the doctor and continues on until he suffers from a partial failure of his liver. This scares him really bad and he vows to give it up and makes it a month before has another drink. A few years go by and he has another close call and makes it almost 3 month using a medicine the doctor has given him. He stops taking it because it gives him horrid nightmares and goes back to drinking again.

Fast forward to 5 years later and the guy can barely function without a drink and his health is shot.He manages to walk down to the county fair and there he meets a man selling a "magic elixir" that will stop him from drinking. The man laughs at first but allows himself to be convinced and takes it home and it really works.

He can drink as much as he wants, it tastes better and he feels himself getting healthier by the day.He likes it so much he recommends it to all his friends, they even gather every few months and go dancing and spend time showing each other their pretty bottles (they are all different colors and sizes) They have competitions to see who can make their bottle the fanciest, which one can pour more liquid and which one has the fanciest new technologies attached. Some people even make their own liquids using secret recipes and home brews

They also spend a lot of time defending their new hobby and lifestyle from those who hate drinking. They organize and plan and fight back in town halls and city meetings and even start a forum for it and watch it grow larger every day with a burgeoning sense of pride and accomplishment to accompany their new found health and prosperity.

On the way back to town the grandfather runs into his son, the grandson's father, who tells him he's heard about the magic bottles and wants to start using one so his friends will all think he's cool, because he needs a hobby and because he wants to impress this girl named Mariah.

They get into a huge argument that gets out of hand and the old man dashes his sons bottle to the ground and calls him stupid, tells him that could lead to drinking alcohol and that he shouldnt risk his life on chance and they part ways never to speak again.

The grandfather blinks and pulls his grandson close to him and starts crying and says "Im sorry". The child hugs him back and says "Sorry for what grandpa? Calling him names? The old man shakes his head and wipes the tears from his eyes and says" Im sorry for being right" If it werent for me your father might not have ever started drinking and ran off the road that night.

Exactly. As with fried food, sex with anonymous partners, alcohol or any other consenting adult activity. Why is this an issue to some? I don't get it? Beside the exclusivity thing that is... But I don't feel it should be like that.

There is nothing wrong with nicotine.

Ive never made up a fact on this forum, ever. You dont have to do that when you know what youre talking about. Anyone reading this thread or any others that Ive commented on can see that for themselves at any time.

As for me saying someone shouldnt do something? Thats the voice of experience talking, something you quite obviously dont know much about.

I sense some severe entitlement issues in this one.Gone to the dark side he has.

Pg does not though... it just evaporates. And yes... there were some flavorings that caused problems and thus were removed from most e juices. or you can decide not to use the ones you know cause problems.

As for the pg creating an issue, you just may have a sensitivity or allergy. Which most people notice when they do and switch to a juice that feels good to vape. Case closed. These are all arguments that have no stake on why it is okay for you to use nicotine and not someone else. They are all adult and can make up their own mind.
