Why do some people continue to buy premade coils and juice?

Why not? I much prefer to drip vs a tank but I drive a semi truck all day so it's not very safe to be dripping while driving that monster so that's where my tanks with pre made coils come in handy. When I get home for the night I switch back to the dripper and coils I build myself, I feel like I can easily spare the $5-$10 a month on the coils to keep a low maintenance rig and myself and others safe while I'm out on the road. As much as I love to drip it's just not practical/convenient for me on the job.

I have no interest in building my own coils unless I need to due to govt regulation. If a $3 coil lasts me over a week (sometimes two) and costs under $3, my time is worth way more to me just to buy a new one.

Re: juice.... I will likely start making my own in the next couple of weeks or so, but I have access to great premade juice at under $4/30ml. I have a $3 year old, so don't want to have 100mg nic lying around unless the govt forces me to.

To each their own in any case.

When I build a coil it lasts me about 3 months, costs me less than $0.03 and is made of higher quality kanthal than anything premade, tuned exactly to the way I want to vape.

Juice cost me about $1 for 120ml of better quality juice than one can buy at any price.

I have a kid too. Not my first.
If I can keep him out of the bleach and cleaning products, a bottle of nic obviously isn't too hard.

I stopped smoking to break the financial tether, not to be bound by a new one.

Yes, to each their own.

I bought a little squid dripper not knowing that I wouldn't have to wind the wire around those tiny screws. I was pleasantly surprised to find the I could just insert the legs of the coil into a tiny hole and then tighten the knurled headed screws with my fingers. Worked like a charm for these old eyes and shaky hands. :D I ended up buy 3 more of them for just in case something happened to this one. May even add a couple more to my just in case box. :D

You know what's really weird? I have more trouble with those "thru the post" types than with the tiny screws! I think it's because I'm so horribly uncoordinated -- I have a hard time getting 2 wires thru 2 holes at the same time, whereas with the "tiny screw" type, I can do one at a time. :D

And therein we have proven once again that there is no right or wrong way to do what we do :D

Get out the glasses, hands get shaky, and I want to up my nic when building them. (Used to want a cigarette but have managed to get past that....finally)

LOL, the first time I tried building anything, it was trying to rebuild my Kanger coils. I accidentally took apart every last coil in the house first. It took me over two hours to get one to vape decently and it was the first any only time, since I started vaping, that I desperately wanted a cig.

Because there is no single "right" way to vape.

    Are you sure?

but they told me I had to ................................ ;)

    Lesson learned!
ALWAYS have a good vape sitting by your elbow when you set out to try something different.

One of my friends buys premade coils and liquid because he has severe arthritis in both hands and feels he's a burden if I do it for him so for him it works though I have managed to talk him into letting me do it if things go too bad legislation wise. Other's simply like others have said fall into the simplicity side of it and don't want the hassle of diy there are a miriad of reasons why people do whatever they do in vaping and as long as they are happy and it's working for them does it really matter. Out of my vaping circle of twentyish only 6 of us diy both coils and liquid and if things do go bad I'm seeing an excuse for a couple of bbq's masquerading as diy courses win win for all but would be nice if legislation was more light handed.

Just me, vaping isn't a hobby nor do I ever want to become one.
I have far more important/valuable things to do with my time than to fiddle around with vaping stuff.

The amount I spend on replacement heads and the pre made juices I like is insignificant in comparison to what I used to spend on cigarettes.
What we (both my wife & I) spend on pre made juice & replacement heads in a months time is about the same as what I alone used to spend on cigarettes in a week to maybe 10 days.

I have rda/rta/rba's , various wicking materials & various wire, most of the time it all sits in a drawer unused. Occasionally I'll build something, mostly to remind myself why I don't.
I've tried my hand at DIY juice, no thanks.

I completely support & understand that some folks enjoy the hobbyist / DIY side of vaping but it isn't for me or everyone.
No different than many wouldn't want to participate in hobby's I enjoy.

To each their own, enjoy what ever blows your skirt up and don't worry about what others do.

I guess everyone new starts out doing it. Once you start making your own this hobby costs next to nothing.

I couldn't imagine paying $15 for 30ml of juice again that often tastes like garbage.

A lot of people build their own aircraft at home like this one, most people buy a C-172, the most common private plane in the world but you can make better at home for less money.

Never buy a cake at a store again. You should also build your own furniture, house, and car.

Some people make their own clothes. My grandmother used to make most of my clothes until I got out of high school.

You are probably pretty good at wearing clothes, you should ke your own.

Why do people go out to eat. Heck most houses have the tools to cook food, there is a room devoted to it called a kitchen yet people with kitchens go out to eat.

I rarely eat out for the same reason.
Good food is hard to find, and we know what we are eating at home.
It's better made and better quality.

I actually DIY anything I can (within reason).
    Why not?
I have the ability, it saves a ton of money, it's always better quality, and I know what I have.

    I prefer zippo over Bic.

I'm personally not a fan of a disposable lifestyle.

Some people will pay much more money for much lower quality products and services just to avoid actually having to do something.
    I don't get it either.
Society as a whole seems to value convenience over quality.

Some people will pay much more money for much lower quality clothes than to actually cut cloth and use a sewing machine.

I do my own coils now but many people work long days then work on other things when they get home.

To do the drama queen thing and to shake if not tip over an occupied porta potty.
Production of drama & poo slinging = fun for some folks.

Just more proof of our relationship to monkeys...... Maybe we are not as evolved as we like to believe.

For me, there is always the issue of safety.
Before building my own coils, A LOT of time was spent researching battery safety, ohms law, etc.(and still tons more to be learned) I watched hours of videos before even buying supplies because lets face it, done the wrong way you can run into some major issues. Working with nicotine should warrant the same amount of research IMO. Not everyone has that kind of time, or are willing to break from the convenience of purchasing from a reputable company that has the equipment, materials, experience and knowledge.

Heyyy and some $15 30ml premade liquids are what legends are made of. $15 vs $40 in what would be spent on cigarettes minus health issues is a win in my book. :D

I use factory coils alot simply because my favorite tank requires them (Kabuki). But I also rebuild my second favorite tank (goblin mini), but I prefer the Kabuki, so hence the factory coils.
From a cost perspective the savings are not in coil rebuilding, a coil costs me $1,50 a week, if DIY is 10 cent/week I save $5,50 a month by DIY...not that much.

I do DIY all my liquid. This is where the savings are. Cheapest factory liquid down here is $3 for 10ml, my DIY is about 50 cents/10ml. I use 200ml/months so the monthly savings here is $50/month.

so if you you want to save DIY your liquid, very easy and quick, no skills required....and probably needed anyway soon when regulations are gonna hit.

Because I would rather vape then smoke.

Would you build your own coils and make your own juice if you had to do it standing on one leg, without bending your wrist, on a wobbly table, with one eye closed, in a high wind, and during an earthquake? I prefer to avoid stress rather then induce it.
