Why do we still call them mods?

I never did , I call them batteries . I call coils wires, tanks are tanks I guess. I don't care or use any of this fancy dictionary people use, after all I am just a simple mouth to lung hitter vaping at 13 watts. All this cloud chasing , temp control, airflow , how many ohms your coil is or what mod / tank you're using , none of that bs really concerns me. I have 1 tank , one battery and that's it , the rest of the money I spend on juice I mean why wouldnt I when I vape 10ML / day LOL

Oh btw , if anyone like me is reading this let me give you an advice for a setup , all you need is an istick ( any model ) , personally I like the pico because it is small. Prior I had an istick 50w . As for tank , get yourself a toptank mini and you're all set . Maintenence is super easy , you can make you own coils in no time everything about it is just as simple as it can be.

Other than the semantics (wire/coil, potato/potatoe) isn't having only 1 tank and 1 mod living a bit dangerously? What happens if something breaks?

Not there's any issue with a Pico and toptank. Both are excellent, and as long as they satisfy you that's all that matters. But I do think some folks like to spread the risk around with more than 1 mod, and enjoy some variation in their daily vaping activity with a different tank with a different flavor at various times. Then again, I'm also a big proponent of DIY, especially if vaping large volumes per day.

Lol.

They are called mods because mechanical tube mods are in fact a modified flashlight design.
They still are.

Regulated apv devices inherited the monkier, as new vapers adopted the terminology without really understanding what it meant.

Because we had the language first & that's what they're called. Flashlight is a silly name. They only flash when you turn them on & off in quick succession. :pervy:

Reminds me of an old story...

"I was visiting a friend in America & wanted to take a shower. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't get the hot water to work. I shouted to my friend "Is the hot tap broken?" "The what?" "The hot tap" "What?" "The thing you turn to make water come out" "Oh! faucet"

I did & the bloody thing came off in my hand"

:lol::lol::lol:

I've always been awkward identifying my setup to non-vapers. I am the only person at my job who vapes, so I am constantly getting those "what's that" questions and looks. I usually say "atomizer", because I already know that they're going to ask me 500 more questions. I honestly don't have time to explain every day "This part is called a box mod and contains 18650 batteries and a power regulator which powers a couple of coils of resistance wire which heats up to create an aerosol of propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, flavoring, and nicotine which is fed via capillary action through a wick made out of organic cotton which I drip this stuff called e-liquid onto".

Just saying "it's an atomizer" and that it's used for vaping is usually a lot easier. Usually I can perceive the other person's misinformed ideas about vaping or that they think that I'm a hipster trying to be cool, but whatever. I might work in there the fact that I haven't smoked a cigarette in ages and feel 10 years younger because of it. :)

It's up to you, of course, but you'll have difficulties in interacting with other people. Even here. Personal dictionary is just that, personal.
