Consistency is not something a mech provides.

Being able to read a screen in bright light, doesn't provide consistency, either.

Fact is, with my mechs I get exactly the hit I expect with every push of the fire button. No digital readout required. Granted the hits will not be all the same. But it's still consistent enough to know, without a readout, when to change the battery and when there is an issue with the coil or wick.

This is why I still haven't gotten a regulated mod.. You spend too much time reading the readout add fiddling with buttons... I just want to vape. Making juice and coils and changing wicks is more than enough to fiddle with. Too many, reports of mods loosing settings, for me. When I get a unexpected result from pushing the fire button... I want it to be something I did, rather than the mod going crazy.

Are these mods that are loosing settings current ones? Seriously, 'cuz i wouldn't buy a POS that did that! For me I wish more mods would come with puff count! That way I would have a more definite way of seeing how long my builds are lasting!

P.S. Please post a list of those bad mods so I know which ones to stay away from!

I Don't know names inparticular.. I do know I see a new post at least daily, with someone having their mod loose or change settings. Honestly It doesn't seem to be limited to any particular brand or model. But I haven't really kept a list. Sure most are operator error. But, it's enough that the problem occurs and I see enough posts about it. That, I don't feel SAFE switching from my mechs to a regulated mod.

It could also be partly due to the type of Regulated mods I might buy.. See I have a personal limit I have set on vaping.... No single purchase can be more than what would be made $ wise as when I smoked..... That sets the limit to the price of a carton of Marlboros $50-$60. Obviously, I don't spend much time looking at Top Shelf gear.

The mod for you is the RX200! Can be had for less than $60.! Look it up I'm serious!
BTW! You're the first one that I've ever heard of that felt SAFER with a mech mod. But to each his own!

Well that's silly. Presumably a device is going to last you a lot longer than that carton of cigarettes would, yeah? Dunnit make sense you could spend a little more on it, then? Since you don't have to run out and buy it over and over again week after week, you still end up saving scratch in the long run.

Mech v Regulated aside...cuz people who prefer mechs don't need a screen. Got it.

But if you like a regulated device - the OP has a good idea.
I don't know what the draw is for the OLED or other screens currently used - but something like the backlit kindle display would likely work, and has a very low power consumption.

Someone should certainly calculate approximate impact on battery life, and approximate cost difference. May or may not be worth it depending on those factors.

RX200 is too big. Replace the 3rd battery with a squonk bottle I might consider it. $44 at fasttest is tempting.

Yeah, I feel safer using my brain to provide for safety vs electronics and wires. 200 watts on 3 18650s will always be more risky than 30watts or less on the 1 in a mech, too me.
I also think we should go back to building cars like we did in the 50's and 60's, purely for safety reasons, not to mention improved looks. Lighter smaller cars might be more efficient, but they are much less safe. Hence the need for explosive air bags and such.
I prefer my old Revolver vs my fancy new Glock and Beretta Semi-autos. My favorite rifle is a Winchester Lever action built in 1905. Neither have supiflerous safety switches, to fail.

You don't save money by spending more of it.
Rich people didn't get rich because they spent more money than everyone else.. They stay rich because they spend less, proportionally than most.
Question isn't whether or not the mod will last longer or not. Which would you expect to have a longer life expectancy.. A $20 Mechanical tube mech or ANY PCB regulated device? See you don't need to spend very much money to get longevity.

Mechs had their place in the history of vaping. Some people still like stick shifts in their automobiles. I certainly enjoyed power shifting my muscle cars way back when. These days, I like the 6 speed automatic tranny in my Ram 1500 Big Horn pickup.

My daily at home vape is a dual 18650 Smok Koopor Plus 200W. When I go out, it's an Innokin CoolFire IV or the Innokin MVP Pro 3.0 Plus. The Coolfire IV wins out most of the time because it fits my jeans pocket better. They both charge from USB in the car, so I don't have to carry a battery box.

I think the paper white display idea has merit. They look good in the sun and the backlight allows them to work in the dark. They also available in RGB color models.
