I just wanted to say farewell to all my friends here because this is my last post here. I'm going back to traditional cigarettes. My beloved and only MOD I have the iStick 50W died on me only after 6 months it will no longer charge I used the correct charger (1 AMP). It seems that i cant keep a MOD more the 6 months and I take VERY good care of them. I'm very poor and for me to buy a cheap MOD is a very BIG DEAL. I need it to last at least a year I understand now that all MODS are essentially disposable They will eventually die. yes I save money on e-liquid but if I have to but a new $50-$80 device every 6 months it negates the savings on the liquid. I love vaping and had a deep passion for it but I just cant afford it right now I hope vaping continues on and continues saving peoples life. Love yall for all the help and goodbye.

vaping can the ten times cheaper or a hundred times more expensive than smoking.

If you need to cut down on cost you're got to do the research to find out how;

1: eliquid: diy is the answer.
2: toppers: rda's are very simple and usually indestructible.
3: mods: lots of good mech mods that will last forver
4: regulation: there are only a few kick modules, (or you can mod your own system using a chip); {or of course you could go unregulated.}
5: power: you could even vape off the wall.

Whatever Mod you buy (my first Reos is three years old, still used daily by it's second owner) is up to you. But if buying a second hand Reos, ProVari or Nemesis leaves you a little short, try the PIF section of the ECF. For postage you could have just about anything sent to you.
There are also people scattered across the ECF who make their own e-liquids. I am just starting into DIY liquids, but there are some who would probably send you multiple samples just to have some honest feedback on their e-liquids.
Then there are always contests going on in the ECF. Vendors are constantly giving away gear and e-liquids just for the publicity.
Look, I admit I am fortunate. Even in my late 50's I am healthy and productive. If I want / need something, I just go buy it. But the ECF is full of kind and generous people. Pride is one thing, Lung cancer is something entirely different. Don't be afraid to try a few PIF's or contests.

I would honestly just save up and get a quality American Made mod with a good warranty. While they are more advanced and you have to pay attention to ohms law and the capability of the board, my HexOhm comes with an unconditional lifetime warranty. You can also find cheaper offerings which use the same board from other American mod builders with a similar warranty.

That sucks =( hate breaking mods, that's why when I can afford to I buy extra's for just in-case, I got a plan for you, keep signing up to contests here and eventually you'll win one, I've won two contests in a row!! I vape anywhere between 10 and 15ml of juice a day, sounds expensive right? WRONG!! I mix my own juice, if you don't mind very basic juices it can be extremely cheap, even flavorless is an option and is the cheapest... Last time I calculated it it was costing me about 12$ a month for ejuice, which is what 1 pack of smokes costs here.

Also OP -

If you really want to get educated about doing this on the cheap, Baditude posted in your thread - this gives you a one click link to his profile, where you can search for his posts.

This dude has given the vaping community an unbelievable gift; all of the knowledge needed to safely and effectively run an unregulated mechanical mod (by far the cheapest way you'll vape over time) packaged in easy to understand, bite sized chunks.

Spend some time stalking his posts over the last three or so years, follow links, and let what he says inspire some google searches.

Your eyes will open to just how cost effective vaping can really be.

Maybe they'll put that on your tombstone.

As you can see by my signature, vaping is much cheaper.

Vaping -CAN BE- much cheaper, but that is not really the experience a majority of manstream consumers are having. The online community (even if you total all of the most populated competing boards) does not cover even a plurality of consumers in this industry. We, involved in the community at any level are the hobbyists, the extremists, and the enthusiasts. Most vapers are just customers, many of whom spend nearly the same on vaping what they did on smoking.

Anyone remember mall kiosks? Where you could get a 510 starter kit for $100+?

Yes, even at one mod every 6 months, vaping is so much cheaper than smoking. And goodness, I have a 20W istick that's 15 months old. I gave it to a friend to use a few months ago and she's not as nice to it as I was. I think she drops it 3-5 times a day, lol!

I would get a mechanical or just buy another cheap mod, even if its every 6 months. I'm rather impressed with my Sigeleis for the price. You can find the 75W with tc for under $40 if you shop around.

My guess is that most of that $100mo budget is going for Juice and coils?

    Have you considered bulk unflavored?

There are many ECF vendors that can sell you 16oz (500ml) for ~$30 (or less) delivered.
Even if you are/were vaping 60ml a week you'll have 2 months of juice for ~1/3 of your budget leaving room for a new mod and some coils.

Switch to a RTA or tank with a rebuildable atomizer and realize even more savings. For the cost of one package of factory atomizers you could have a few year supply of cotton and wire.

I'm sorry but while vaping CAN be more expensive than smoking store bought cigarettes it can also cost much much less.

Best of luck in however/whatever you proceed with.

Hope you sort things out. Also on Disability...........and no way in hell I'm going back to smoking.
Even Vaping Unflavored (DIY Super Cheap) would be better........and I prefer favors. All I purchase are inexpensive Mods, but it Is the Mod you choose, Not the price of the mod, that matters.
Per my Banner - now over 3 years
    Nice collection of inexpensive mods
    Some as low as $9
    All working Fine
    Most over 6 months
    some fully 3yrs. old

Be a Proper shopper. Buy smart and protect yourself from Tobacco harm.

Good to have an extra mod for Just These Times. ;)

    Wishing you best of luck~:)

A pack of smokes here is about 9 bucks and the taxes are going up again in a few months.

I'd suggest looking at fastech for equipment and DIY your juice. It costs me about 20 or 30 bucks a month on average for my vaping habit. Would be easily ten times that for smokes.

Or maybe you just want to smoke and you're using a broken istink as your excuse. 6 months out of an istick? That's incredible! You should be bragging about how long it lasted....no complaining about how fast it broke.
Buy a good mod and vape.....or use weak excuses to smoke. Up to you. I hope you vape.

I agree, "Baditude" is a gem and has been an invaluable asset to these forums , not looking over his blogs or taking seriously what he has to say is a monumental mistake if you are looking for extremely sound advice and information.

I know he has been through and overcome very difficult times in his life as well so he gets it and has helped me and countless others get through those trying times when everything looks hopeless.

Please don't resort to cigarettes , there are many mods that will last well over a year for cheap $$ if you research a little . Sounds like you should avoid the built in battery types and get a replaceable battery model that runs on a single 18650.

You can get a pair of 18650's and a suitable charger for under $30.00 and you will be much better off.

Cigarettes were much cheaper for me than vaping has become for me. I come from buying RYO tobacco with an electronic rolling machine which allowed me to make a pack in about two minutes. I could roll about seven cartons for under $20.

$8 Per Carton for anything worth rolling............and still much worse than Breathing.
I DIY at $3 120ml and on a Bad week, might Vape 200.
Even with prorated Wire and Rayon...........Cheaper.....:sneaky:

Your Claim doesn't cover the cost of most (Carton of Tubes x 7)

A person is either determined and will go through hell and back to find a way to quit smoking or they have not got to that point yet .

When someone says i have tried vaping but i am going back to cigs and brings up the "too expensive excuse , that imo means they have clearly not reached the point of being committed to stop smoking .

Vaping is, without question one of the cheapest and most effective way to beat cigs but if you haven't reached that " will beat smoking no matter what it takes" than imo your wasting everyones time.

Come back in the future when you have truly reached that point because we will be here.

Sorry, thats just how i feel

William, you DON'T have to spend $50-$80 to get a decent mod, or even 2. Are you buying at a B & M? I've got a nice vapocalypse stash of both regulateds and mechs now and I've never paid over $35 for a mod. Nor have I ever had one quit on me. I still have 2 VAMO v2s that I got 2-1/2 years ago that still work just fine.

What I've done is scour the online sites for sales. I often hear about them here in the forum on the Deals and Steals thread. I recently bought 3 very nice mech mods for $3.95 apiece, and they are still being offered at that price! Take a gander at this page of closeout deals:

Huge discounts on closeout ECIG supplies.

Don't want a mech? No problem. There is also a VAMO v3 on that page for $5.95. No, that's not the latest and greatest mod, but at that price you could get 2 and have a backup. There are also some later version VAMOs and Sigelei ZMaxes for $9.95. There are other unbelievable deals on that page as long as you aren't set on the latest and greatest.

Or go to the Deals and Steals thread and check out all the Black Friday sales that are coming up. VapeNW, for instance, is having a 20% off everything in the store sale starting tomorrow. There are several box mods that can be had for under $25 with that discount.

Heavens Gifts is another. They currently have the 40W Kanger Kbox at 50% off, which would bring the price down to $14.25. Not the latest and greatest, but a decent mod. I have several in my vapocalypse stash.

Those are just a few examples of places where you can get some inexpensive mods, or even 2 for WAY less than you mentioned. You just need to buy online and keep your eyes pealed.

$11.99 for a pound of tobacco and 99 cents a box of tubes when I bought in bulk.

And DIY eliquid is quite a bit more of a hassle than rolling tobacco. I much rather just buy my juice.
