How about a 'Why vaping is bad' recap:

It's bad for BT because they're way behind the curve on the technology, they're losing cigarette sales, and they're losing revenue;

It's bad for BP because fewer people are using their products to quit smoking, and eventually fewer people will be using their products to reduce pain and suffering before death. They're losing revenue;

It's bad for state governments because they have invested a lot money essentially gambling that people will always keep smoking. People are quitting smoking and their losing revenue;

It's bad for the federal government because of the reasons stated above. No happy campers among their benevolent benefactors means their losing revenue;

It's bad for public health officials because they get their marching orders and paychecks from state and federal entities who tell them it's bad.
They don't want to lose their paychecks;

It's bad for the ANTZ for all of the reasons above, plus the fact that they just plain don't like it and don't want anybody to do it;

It's bad for research scientists because they're having a hard time finding anything wrong with it even though they're being paid to do just that;

It's bad for the media because one or more of the above groups have told them it's bad and if they report otherwise they'll be out of a job;

It's bad for bystanders and children because that's what the folks in the above groups say, and how dare you presume to contradict them;

It's bad for the planet because...well it's a stretch but I'm pretty sure we'll hear it soon;

It's bad for the people engaged in the activity because it just might possibly, maybe, hypothetically, somewhere in the future, be more dangerous than just living without it;

Seems to me the only people left off the list are the ones who have dramatically reduced or completely quit smoking by way of a switch to vaping.
Apparently we don't count.

Respectfully,
Mark

Listen the FDA knows exactly what is good for all of us, this proves it.

Chantix, approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2006, has a long history of users – and their next of kin -- reporting troubling, sometimes deadly, side effects they blame on the drug.

In the last five years, 544 suicides and 1,869 attempted suicides have been reported to the FDA as “adverse events” in connection with Chantix, according to documents obtained by America Tonight under the Freedom of Information Act.

I couldn't find the same information about vaping but that doesn't mean they don't have the finger on the pulse of what is best for the public when it comes to smoking cessation ;)

Priceless! Great thread!
"It's bad for the planet because...well it's a stretch but I'm pretty sure we'll hear it soon;"

Here it is:
All those lithium ion batteries in the landfills, and it is a finite resource that we need for other gadgets... like pacemakers...:facepalm:

That last sentence, coming to a newspaper near you. lol

Its very bad for Social Security and other pension plans because more and more people are living too long.

LMAO, that's probably to close to the truth then any of them would admit. Keep smoking, keep passing us a revenue and hurry up and die because you are becoming a burden of the SS system. By the way which we completely corrupted and mis-appropriated the funds away from their intended use.

That's no joke. I'm retired military, so the savings are even bigger if I just die.
I quit smoking before I joined in 1981,... but one of the first things they told us was "smoke 'em if ya got 'em. Just put your buts in those red coffee cans".
At military celebration events there were free packs of Newports given away. It was peacetime so I guess those were the "ration funds".

Many 'Likes' to all of the above!!
Yeah, I've heard the 'batteries in the landfill' argument. Compared to every other battery-powered device in existence its a drop in the ocean, so to speak. And vapers tend to be a bit more tech savvy with regard to proper disposal.

yup.... we vent them :)

Vaping is bad because it is KNOWN to cause everything from chronic sore throat to herpes to making us more susceptible to colds and flu. Oh, and don't get me started on all the dental problems that are caused by sweet juices and hard draws. Why just the other day I "heard" that someone's mouth imploded trying to draw on a closed off tank. Had to get an entire new set of teeth.

Also, due to the influx of goods bought from China we are just weakening our ability as a country to be competitive in international markets (Even though everything has been made in China for years).

Yep, WW1 through Vietnam. 'Here, they are free and they will make you feel better.'

"With the entrance of the United States into World War I in 1918, cigarette use increased dramatically amongst United States military personnel as they were targeted by tobacco companies which touted cigarettes as a way for soldiers to psychologically escape from their current circumstances, boosting overall troop morale"

"With the rise of World War II, tobacco companies continued to foster this culture of wartime smoking by sending free cigarettes to troops and supporting the inclusion of cigarettes into the soldiers' rations. Advertisements also encouraged citizens back home to support the troops by sending cigarettes.[2] Despite mounting evidence in the 1950s of the adverse health effects of smoking and tobacco use, the military continued to include cigarettes in rations until 1975."

Just think "greenhouse gas potential". :lol:

Yes that pesky water vaper again. Somebody posted a chemical breakdown name for it on a global warming thread once (it is the major cause) and the comments were even funnier than that old video of women signing a petition to end women's suffrage. :D
