Ha. Funny I was just wondering that as well earlier today while reading the forums. Truly don't understand this myself.

Look at where we are and fast-forward 10-20 years. Say tobacco companies are less "in" and vaping companies are more "in". Which is the way it should be trending, atleast to some degree. By then most of us won't be vaping anymore and or will we? New vapers will have to pick up on the habit to keep vaping alive... fewer and fewer people will have ever smoked, so will vaping be the new smoking? Just a very very random thought. Where do we go from here?

It looks like we vapers are the new "Beautiful People"! I mean, c'mon... look at us! :D

I think a good percentage of them had it "in them" to be a smoker... but the stigma and health risks of smoking was enough of a deterrent?
Along comes what is believed to be a low-risk alternative and it gave many of them an out?
I dunno, just speculating. Why did many of us start smoking?
I would like to think that I would have taken to vaping over smoking back in the day if I had the choice.

I in no way endorse vaping for non smokers but this might be a valid reason for some.
Probably healthier to vape that to be overweight.

From Mt Baker newsletter on 12/19/14
"Two: Lose Weight
Not surprisingly, the second most common New Year's Resolution is the desire to lose weight. While normally this is not something you would consider vaping to be associated with, it actually has the ability to make a dramatic positive impact on attaining your goal. Think about a time when you were dieting and you just craved that cinnamon roll. Did you stick to your guns and deny yourself, or give in? Either way, it was a difficult situation. Now consider this, you have resolved to lose weight this coming year and you start craving cinnamon rolls. Instead of running to the closest bakery, you pull out your e-cig and start vaping the delicious cinnamon roll e-juice, allowing you all of the flavor with none of the calories. You can keep your resolution without sacrificing the taster of your favorite treats!"

I have no idea why anyone would vape 0 nicotine juice... but hey, if it makes you happy... go on with your bad self!

I quit all forms of tobacco 3 years ago. (Well, to be fair, I still indulged in the occasional cigar or pipe up until about 6 months ago.). By far, what I miss most from my smoking days was puffing on some quality, slightly sweet pipe tobacco -- the flavor, the draw, and the exhale were just sublime, IMO. I now vape zero nic to recreate that experience without the possibility of getting addicted to nicotine again.

Actually, I didn't start vaping to stop the urge to smoke (ie - to curb nicotine cravings)-- that urge left me about three years ago. I started vaping because I enjoyed ritual/mechanics of smoking and the taste of pipe tobacco. It's a subtle distinction, but a distinction nonetheless, IMO.

I do have two friends who vape zero nic, neither of whom smoked in the past. One is a foodie and he likes to experience different flavors (especially sweets) without having to eat all the time. The other likes vaping because she says it reminds her of dancing next to a fog machine during her clubbing days. Point being, while vaping is undoubtedly a great smoking cessation method, it's also a flavor and scent driven activity that can appeal to a broad range of people who've never smoked a day in their life.

I don't think the youth are "rushing" to vape anymore than I believe vaping is a stepping stone to smoking tobacco. Personally, everyone I know or have met that vapes is an ex-tobacco smoker. I'm sure there are some that aren't ex-smokers but doubt there are that many.

I personally know 2 never-smokers who currently vape... both are nephews of mine.
One is an ANTZ! But an ANTZ in a tobacco smoking sense, at least he would weigh the evidence from both sides when it came to vaping.
He went with the published medical expert evidence over the typical anti-vaping, "he said, she said" works of nonsense.
On that note, I know way more former smokers who vape than never-smokers who vape.
