manOman bap - the 3D printed enclosure looks really sweet!!

What material did you go for - is that white, strong, and flexible? It looks really durable too - what thickness is it?

I don't know if painting is necessary as it looks good as is. Color option is always nice though. Decisions decisions, huh?

Yeah its white strong and flexible material (its the cheapest....plus they had a coupon code for a discount on that material the day I ordered :D). The wall thickness is 2mm for the majority of the housing, the back part of the tube is 2.4mm.

I think polished alumide would look great and require no beautification work, but the description of the material worries me with it being more brittle and not water tight.

When I order the part I forgot I might order another set of parts in the white polished. I'm not sure I would like the other strong and flexible polished colors. Wish they had black polished.

I will probably hit the one I have with some fine sandpaper and see how it turns out.

Bap ive been thinking about this thing since you first put the idea out there as i would really like to put my zens on a dna mod. anyway a thought struck me but have no idea if it is even feasable. I was throwing some batts on the charger when it hit, could you put a sliding post in there to allow the use of all 18xxx batteries without the use of extention caps and such. Just a wild thought :)

edit: should have looked closer, guessing it wont hold my zen 2's

Guess what showed up :D....but somehow I forgot to order one of the pieces and as the part that holds the internals in place it's kind of important  But it will give me time to get the machined parts made and fitted.

Thanks!

I thought about going to vendor status and selling this mod, but I didn't like how long and tipsy it got with taller attys....plus the design would need a fair amount of custom machined parts that I'm not set up to make.

I'm currently working on DNA side by side mod that should be more pocket and tip over friendly. But I doubt I will go the vendor route and try to sell mods. I don't really have the time and I like making new things with the time I have.

Yeah it's very similar in format. I seen pbusardo's interview, but I disagree with Zen about width vs height. Which is why I have gone away from this design. With bigger and heavier attys it's still tippy and long in the pocket.

I have actually been working on a side by side design, more geared to Zen's sidewinder, except it will have interchangeable battery caps for 18350-490-650 batteries, along with PTC resettable fusses and reverse polarity protection, and maybe a surprise.

I have found that with the side by side format while it does add more width, the extra width and getting the atty down and to side lowering the CG makes for a very pocket friendly and very stable setup.

Here is kicked 18650 side by side I recently made and I love it.

The only difference i see between his design and your original one is that his will have the new dna30...i like your Bap Winder btw :)

If the ZNA has the DNA30 then they will also be available from Evolv....I personally don't need 30w and don't want to.....that is a lot of changing or charging batteries.

That is sexy Bap! Absolutely beautiful work! How are you making the ground connection between the tubes?
