Need to order more wire and Wicking materials.

What wire and wick should I buy?
How would you suggest I do the build?
Would there be an advantage to maybe 34-35awg twisted wire or dual coil setup?
Would a spaced coil gunk-up less or slower than a contact coil?

Current set-up is 30ga coils with cotton wicks, using NET juices, on a 5-12 watt kicked mod, in a kayfun Nano tank. With the 30awg I tend to prefer about 1.7-2.25 ohms at 7-9 watts (middle settings of kick). Looking to maximize flavor for ADV, in the SUB 12 watt range. Thinking about going back to silica, don't know what size to use, cotton is OK but needs to be replaced almost daily. Like to be able to rinse, burn and go.

As far as wire goes, kanthal sounds like it'd be the best for you & your needs. As for wick, if you're looking for a burn, rinse, & go... Try stainless steel (Yes, it's possible in a Kayfun) or Ceramic (aka readyxwick)? It's similar to silica but a bit better wicking & longevity.

Maybe try a parallel coil some time? It'd be rough with 30g but the flavor is always great from parallel.

Twisted, if you do contact coils then no. At that gauge it's going to be impossible to get a twisted coil to squeeze right. If not, it's worth a shot. Twisted generally has better flavor, so yeah.

Assuming neither have hot spots, a little less I believe but not by much. It's hard to tell, since with a contact coil the gunk has less space to go and is pushed out making it seem gunkier than the spaced naturally. Using NET's, you're screwed. They're going to gunk up every time.

Obviously I would want Kanthal... Guess I need to try to ask the question more simply or directly.

I have a Kayfun want most flavor I can get. The tank will be powered by a Kick regulated Mech mod, so is limited to 1.5-3ohms for the question. What do you recommend for a coil and wick build? Any gauge wire, any type of wicking. Links to tutorials for special builds would be helpful. When using Steam Engine, what heat flux/capacity range am I shooting for?

If you're shooting for a specific heat flux / capacity, then Kanthal 'obviously' might not be what you're after. Since you're playing with those variables, try the values for Nichrome 60 & Nichrome 80 as well. The increased surface area may yield better flavor v.s. kanthal as well, and the heat capacity will definitely be better.

As for builds for you to try, there are thousands. Just to name a few, you could try a parallel build, twisted build, twisted parallel build, vertical coil build, dual coil build, or diamond coil. All of these should give off great flavor, and all can be built in the 1.5-3Ω range.

And lastly, as for what numbers for heat flux / capacity, that's going to depend on your personal preferences. Don't forget the Kayfun has a really small chamber and gives a warm vape to begin with, so something on the lower end of the heat flux scale might be better.
