Well, doesn't look like there is any need for parts co-ops and a good thread is a terrible thing to waste :) That's what they invented the thread subscription function for. Wasn't a problem tracking about 4 threads for Peaceoffcake's genisis and hybrid run. Besides, telling people where to post on a huge forum is like herding cats, you'll go nuts. People will just sort of gravitate to some threads or others.

I agree!

It was just a suggestion.

Well I really don't mind where you post (I have 7 threads subscribed), just keep throwing out those nuggets of wisdom for me to syphon off.

As far as the coop goes, I think it is still a very viable concept. we just havent found the right vendors.

Polycarb pricing is great, but you have to get it in ridiculous lengths (like 500 feet)

With mesh, you can't get a decent enuough discount to make it attactive to buy a bunch.

I ordered the 6 foot length of polycarb for 14 dollars from Amazon (will see how long it takes to ship). I have a free sample from a vendor for my build. I orderd the 1ft. mesh from Mcmastercarr, but it broke my heart to pay that much for a 1 ft. square.

Bottom line is I am going to have my toys, but I would like to be cheap about it if possible. (end my rant)

I really appreciate each and every post, so Thank You to everyone for sharing. We are all much smarter together.

The McMaster-Carr link for polycarb was $2.52 per foot with a 2 foot minimum? Or something like that. I'm going to order, along with o-rings in just a bit here so I'll know for sure.

There were posts that stated to put, in special instructions, request the tube in 1 foot lengths, so they will put the tube and o-rings in the same box. I would also request that they ship it all in one box. Not sure if they will honor it, but I hate the way they will not give you the shipping costs up front.

Quick, you might need to also add for them to put the o-rings in the same box as the tube. I'm not sure if they double charged me for shipping (got my order same day, but didn't request that), but tube (2-1ft lengths) came in a huge box full of paper and the o-rings came in a separate bag. Shipping was still only 9 bucks for same day delivery.

Placed my order with McMaster-Carr on Wed and received my order on Thurs. I got 4- 1' pieces of the tubes, O-Rings and SS mesh, it all came in one big box. The tubing was all cut at 1 foot and wrapped individually in paper. O-Rings in a separate plastic bag, and the mesh was laid in between two pieces of cardboard so it was protected. I think my shipping charge was only $7 and I can't believe how fast UPS got it to me, it was 1 day ! Great service McMaster - Carr hass

You can get samples of the tubing and stainless steel mesh if you look. A quick search located these:

1. http://www.petroextrusion.com/stocktubing.html
2. 400 Mesh Stainless Steel Twill Type 316 .0012 Wire Diameter 48 Inches Wide Screen

Of course those examples aren't perfect. The tubing has the proper ID, but the 3/4ID tubing has OD of 1", so it'd be a little fat, but I am still looking. Also, the stainless steel mesh cost $10 per sample.

If no others can be located though, you may have a pretty good idea...
i got the pc-201 polycarb tubing from petroextrusion. they sent me like a foot long of it! thanks!

Haha I requested PC-02, PC-03, PC-04, and PC-05 and got a foot long stick of each. Got a few tank ideas in mind, as well as a couple other amazing mod ideas.

I just shot them a request on translucent color polycarbonate in PC-03 and PC-04. Will be interesting if they do make color poly tubing as they advertise :) VERY INTERESTING teehee teehee :)
Could make my wife her pink mini scubagen :) :)

Hey just checking, the PC-05 would work on the scubagen3 right? It's .75" ID, but 1" OD. I'm thinking it would work, but be a bit fat...If so maybe I will get some blue...:D

EDIT: It looks like they do have 7/8" OD, 3/4" ID, it's the PC-21. Didn't notice that before...

The polycarb tubing from McMaster-Carr is 3/4 and 1. I've got that coming as well as the 1/16" wall from amazon. I'm just a bit leary about a 1/16" wall thickness over the long haul and am thinking I'd rather go bullet proof with a 1/8" wall... even if it sticks out. (If we could only get those darned fabricators to turn the hard parts for that :D)

That's what I thought...I went ahead and requested a sample of the PC-21 and I will just see how I feel once I have a piece of each in hand...

McMaster-Carr also carries the Polycarbonate Round Tube, 7/8" Od, 3/4" Id, Clear. part number = 8585K61 that has a 1/16" wall.

I guess I can edit to add, that I too feel that the 1/8" wall tubing is overkill. I've been using the 1/16" wall polycarbonate tubing for the past 2~3 months and have not had any issues with it breaking or cracking.

Dang it, I could have ordered that at the same time with the other (instead of separate from Amazon). McMaster's product navigation sucks... I though I had seen that on there from another link (the 2.52 a foot part) but I figured it must have been the 1" and the price must have changed... I though I had a complete product listing. Tubing->single line->polycarbonate->3/4" ID...

Well I use the 1/16 wall poly tubing and it is quite stout. I can not imagine the need for 1/8" walls. I have been using mine for about a month and a half now and it has not cracked or gotten damages in any way.Comming up on a month using the sping connectors and they are working flawlessly. No rust etc for those worried about using straight steel wire nails.
