Not really true. You kind of have to use it at least once in order to set the mod up properly.

Not if the software would be used only for customizing the display. It has a default screen layout, if you're satisified with that you wouldn't have to touch the software.

Not really true. You really need to input certain info for the mod to run efficiently. You definitely need to set up your batteries to get an accurate read. There are other things to do to have a a better experience. Plus, if you're not going to do that why even bother with a dna? That's the exact reason the RX was made.

It sounds like you gents are talking about two different things, BTW. One being escribe, and one being a potential software for the RX200.

??? My above post says that the software would ONLY be for messing about with the screen. Not batteries, not TCR, not anything to do with the actual performance of the mod. It would ONLY allow you to make custom screens, change the display font, the display color, things like that. You literally would never have to use it unless you wanted to do those things. I'm not talking about the DNA200.

Lol, take it easy. My bad. I'm on taptalk so I can't see the whole title. Sorry if I caused any confusion.

No, it's all good. I just didn't understand why you kept referring to the batteries and such. I don't want to mess with that either, it's why I don't have a DNA200 mod. I would absolutely mess around with customizing my screen, however.

The battery analyzer in my opinion is what sets the DNA version apart from other mods. I wish every mod had just that function.

If you have a LiPo pack, and perhaps a spare or two, I could see taking the several hours for an analysis. It needs a full discharge/recharge cycle.

I can't see doing it for each of several different models/brands of 18650 that I use.

Took 90 minutes at 40 watts.

Well worth the short amount of time.

LGHG2's.

You do it and then keep the batteries in the device. My batteries never ever come out. It charges and discharges them with in .01 volts of each other.

You run the battery analyzer on the exact batteries you are using and then don't change them. You would have to run the analyzer again if you swapped in different batteries, including lipo's - so having multiple lipo packs would offer no benefit.

Keep in mind... he's describing the DNA Reuleaux.
Its' balanced charging is far superior to the RX.
Apples and oranges, it was just an example of possible features for the RX.

Thank you for that but yep, I realize he was referring to the DNA but I have also read here that some people are also charging their RX200's with the latest software via USB so I was wondering if that is the way to go with the new sleeve on.

I charge my RX's about 90% of the time with a USB too. The latest update keeps them with in .1 volts charging or discharging which is acceptable to me, althought the DNA seems to be 10 times more accurate. I don't ever leave the house with it on the USB charger though, so if I'm leaving I'll just unplug it and finish charging when I return.

So it would be less helpful for me.

I never charge in the RX and only rarely in the D2 because of its' annoyingly fitted sleeve.
Though that 90 minutes is quite a bit quicker than I had thought. Good to know.

Gotcha.
Mine's pretty good at discharge, but I haven't had it out of use long enough yet for a charge cycle.
Safe? Pretty sure that's a yes.
Terribly accurate/balanced? No idea.

If you haven't owned the device long enough for a complete charge cycle how can you say having a battery analyzer would not be helpful to you?

Nice that the RX is charging accurately.
And good point about the USB port. Definitely a potential point of failure.

I've had it a couple months.
I said it hadn't been "out of use"... as in, plugged in and charging. :D
