Not a bad mistake, to be honest.
60w per 20A 18650 is getting rough, even with good cells.
Do the math, it's 20A at 3.0v (I use that vs. 3.2v for that little bit of extra safety headroom).
But those 4s are strong 20A cells.
Running them gently will at least slightly increase their life.
And you may end up popping them in a 150w mod before they wear out*. :p

*I haven't been over 100w in months... I don't know how you vape. ;)

I'm not entirely sure what you mean when talking about 60w per 20A 18650. It's 20A at 3.0 when running 60 watts but the cells are in series and so therefore reduce the amps pulled by combining their voltages? VTC4's are strong 20A cells, but I thought they are the only true 30A continous cell you can buy?

Wouldn't running at 60 watts even at the lowest voltage that you'd use which is 3.0v per cell in the RX200 mean that the highest amps you'd be drawing in a triple cell mod like the RX200 would be 6.666 (60 divided by 9)? Each battery would be drawing 6.66 amps since they are in series.

Granted, not a bad mistake. I however am thinking of buying some VTC5's when I get my Efest Luc V4 instead of 3 more VTC4's because with the 4's I only get roughly 24 hours out of them before I have to recharge. With the 5's I'd be getting 1,500 extra mAh and would still be completely safe since even at 120 watts (max I can take the coils, and I won't be anyway) I'd only be pulling 12.5 amps on each cell.

I generally never take my RX200 past 80 watts because I can't handle the hot vapor, and I have been enjoying the 1.2 coils on my Crown at 25-30. I've been having some trial and error with them though. 7 coils gone in under a week, sadly.

OK I don't understand why you wouldn't want to be overly safe! Why not be as safe as possible? To me any extra money spent to be as safe as I can possibly be is worth it! I bought my LG HG2s from a local B&M that I know the owner of because I trust her & definately paid more for the piece of mind! To me saving money by DIYing the things I can make myself makes more sense!:headbang:

I'm all for being safe don't get me wrong, but if I can still be 100% safe while increasing my mod's battery life, I am all for that :)

I just picked up a new black and red rx 200 and some LG HE4s , i hope i have better luck this time.
Please don't use icr batteries for vaping. I know they aren't really 40A because none of these batteries are. And I'm fairly certain most icr batteries are under 10A though I would need to research that to be sure.

The idea is to calculate the worst the mod can throw at the batteries, and make sure your cells can handle it. Parallel or series doesn''t really matter for our purposes... the amp draw result is the same.

Of course, if you knowingly limit your wattage ceiling, and are careful about it, you can use a lesser battery.

The VTC 4 is a 30A capable battery, though not the strongest.
The LG HB line is much stronger, though you pay for it with even less capacity than the VTCs.
And they're rarer than hen's teeth. :p

For the RX, and especially your watt levels, you definitely would be fine with the higher mAh LG HG2s.

I was looking at those before, how high could I take them if I were to get them?

Favourite 18650?

Here are the batteries I like....
All around best choice below 20A = LG HG2
All around best choice above 20A = Sony VTC4
Only choice above 30A = LG HB6

Runners-up include Samsung 25R for up to around 20A and Samsung 30Q for up to 15A-20A.

The HE4 and VTC5 are good 20A batteries though.

At least 180 watts. They're a fully capable 20A cell, with 3000 mAh.

You'll shorten the overall life of the cells doing that all day, but I'd trust them to do it.

WARNING... for those who don't read so closely... this is an RX thread... 3 batteries. :D

I would never even take them to 120 watts, and I'll be continuously using them at 30-70. With 2700 extra mAh than my three VTC4's? I think I may just be sold :)

How does one know when a cell's life is starting to get on its last leg? When it's close to taking to a dump and having it recycled?

The length of usable charge (vape time) will drop off.
Possibly indications of excess heat?

Mine haven't reached that point (~6-7 months) so any other advice is appreciated. :)

Yeah, I don't think Jon (LiIon) does Int'l sales. :(

All three of that series (LB 2, 4 & 6) are serious high drain, but low mAh (has to be that way).
Any should handle most anything we would throw at them... if you can find them.

If i can find them is right....i cant find them anywhere in New Zealand...maybe i should just relocate to USA. Be a lot easier and cheaper too.:D
