I finally got mine late yesterday. I used it all night at work and so far I love it. It feels surprisingly good in my hand considering it has 3 batteries, and it vapes great. Battery life is going to be amazing on this thing which is great since I'm a big time chain vaper.

Yep I know the feeling! Got my two today also... What tank are you running on it?

Twisted messes at .39 ohms dual coil running at 60-70 watts. Also stuck my aromamizer on there which has dual claptons and I run at 50w and it is flawless. Love it!

Size comparison. That's a Sig 100+ with a silicone sleeve on it and a velocity. So yeah this RX200 is small!

OK guys and girls, I'm on the fence about this or the DNA 200 version.

How is everyone's feeling about the chip? When these were first announced, seemed like everyone was talking badly about the Joytech boards, but now seems like everyone lives this.

Guess what I'm asking, is it a solid device, and is it worth the extra money to get the DNA 200?

Right now I'm using a SX Mini M class that I love and hate. It hits great, but I despise changing the battery in it. I also have a Vapoflask DNA 40 that I cannot get to compare to the SX with the same tank.

Yeah, I was asking about the RX200 and if it was was worth it, or better to upgrade to the DNA version.

Copy that!
I like the RX200... at $49 it was the best value I've spent this year on mods....saved $100 not buying the DNA version... This mod rocks!..very happy with it..and I'm glad I got two...[emoji12]

If you plan to only use kanthal/Ti/Ni then it will probably be fine. It does SS although I'm not sure which grade. I read somewhere that it was thought to be SS316L.

Personally, I still prefer the DNA200. I rolled up some Ti coils in a Crius I had sitting on the bench to test it out. After it's sat for a while and the coil is cool, on that first hit I really miss the DNA200 level of preheat. But on the hits after that, it does just fine. If you planned to use other grades of SS or NiFe, etc. then with the current firmware, it won't be accurate. That's not to say you couldn't adjust the temp and make it work - and they may add more wire options via firmware down the road. I'd be surprised if they did at the price point, but if so that'll be seriously amazing... especially if they add manual TCR adjust like Yihi did. That would give both Evolv and Yihi a serious run for their money.

My initial hunch that the RX200 would be a 316L calibrated TCR may be wrong. I'm pretty sure the Joyetech eVic VTC Mini's SS TCR is based on 304.

The RX200 being a Joyetech chip, it might be using that.

304, 316, 316L and 317L are all close enough, that it can work with just some temp adjustment. SS 430 probably also works with temp adjustment, but may be a bit out of range. I have some 430 on the way and will confirm.

Worst case, any SS coil can be fired in wattage mode.

In theory, all the SS grades have an even higher TC Precision value than Nickel, once the base resistance is factored in (even though it has a lower TCR value). That accuracy helps the situation, too.

So I guess what I'm saying is, while the DNA200 is clearly superior in terms of wire flexibility, the RX200 should be able to deliver on most coils even a veteran vapist would throw at it.

Once mine arrives, I'll do some A/Bs against a DNA200 with Steam-engine profiles, for all the SS grades I have, and post my thoughts.

I thought there was a way to alter the preheat on the RX, have tried to find a user manual online but not found anything yet.
To be honest I can't find a preheat menu either specially on the mod itself..it could very well be this RX mod dosent have a preheat setting at all... Especially with the stock firmware, but I could be wrong...I just can't find it..

You can adjust the preheat on this mod.....4 clicks of the fire button, then up or down botton. I have my preheat at 100 watts....instant vapor

Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

According to the quick start manual, 4 clicks is the watt adjustment, not preheat. I had to get this info from watching a youtube vid where someone showed their manual... because mine came with a DNA200 manual.

Isn't the watts adjustment the preheat in a non DNA device? It should fire at X watts until temp is reached. Theoretically the higher the watts the quicker your coil will heat.

I guess the watts are also a rev-limiter of sorts as it should not go above X watts during your normal vape routine.

Very well could be... never owned a TC mod with a Joyetech chip in it before. So, theoretically you could take a DNA200, set the preheat to 0 and watts to 100, let it regulate to temp and you'd have the same thing...

When I think of preheat, it's a different setting than the main wattage setting. For example on my DNA200 I have my preheat set at 80 watts for 1 second, then my watts set at 30-40 depending on juice, coil size, etc. Preheat is sort of like a boost to quickly get it up to temperature, then I try to dial in the main setting (watts) to what I think I will need to keep it at that temperature. Hope that makes sense.

Cheers,
Steve

Edit I guess it depends on how your TC mod regulates power in TC as to how useful preheat would be. If it noticeable pules to regulate power, then imo preheat is very useful so you don't have to set main power high to get a quick ramp up then feel it pulsing away as it's trying to regulate temperature.
