with so much attention being given to super sub ohm builds...

I can't understand the attraction to super-sub-ohm builds, unless it's just to push the envelope for the sake of doing so. Cloud chasing? Bigger clouds? Why? Is it a male thing? The ability to project something large out in front of himself? "Mine's bigger!"

I really don't get it.

When I got into rba's and mechs it wasn't because I was cloud chasing, and I never cared how big a cloud I could make. I wanted satisfaction that equaled what I got from smoking. That meant immediate hits, as fast, strong and flavorful as I got from cigs. I could not get that from ego rigs, no matter how I configured them. As my vaping journey progressed I ended up with a mech and rba, then settled at .7 ohm over time, and I'm quite happy there.

This .2 ohm and below thing I don't get at all. When you go that low ohm where's the flavor? You get the big cloud, but where's the flavor? From what I've heard it's not there at all, so what's the point? A bigger cloud than that other guy's? Must be, because I only hear about men doing that, and usually young men. So I think it's just a male "mine's bigger" contest.

Meh...

I understand it is tough to realize others like to vape differently from how you do, but please refrain from the sexist comments.

We should forget the term sub ohm all togeather. Why do we call anything under 1ohm sub and then where is the line to sub? As long as you are not exceeding your battery and pay attention to the temp of your mod your safe enough. If you think that the pulse rate is your battery limit you are dangerous! If you vape dangerously you are an idiot. It is that simple. Those of you who feel the need to pass judgment should realy focus on dangerous people instead of people who like to vape safely at lower ohms than you.

I was away from ecf for around a year. This "sub ohm" phenomenon seems like a more ramped up version of a mindset that's been around before. The first example of which that comes to mind would be when I read about people stacking batteries to get to six volts. None of that has ever appealed to me, I like the 7-8 watt range. For my juices, I find that's the flavor sweet spot for me. Other people like it warmer and I have no problem with that. What I find troubling, is that their seems to be a lot more pictures of blown up mods and mangled hands popping up than there ever was back in the day. Call me crazy, but this seems like a bad trend for those of us who would like to see vaping promoted as a safer alternative to smoking. I'm glad there are people around here who care enough to actively discourage new vapers who are poorly informed about safe battery usage from starting with sub ohm builds.

Think the FDA will be chiming in on this debate....if the ATF doesn't beat 'em to it.

Stupid discussion.

How many ex smokers blew huge giant clouds of smoke with cigarettes? Now you want to blow huge giant clouds just because you can? What the he11 is the point? Did you use to tear the end off a pack of cigarettes and smoke the whole pack at once? You could have. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Stupid Discussion. Period

It's funny I keep reading posts about high wattage being achieved with mech and stacked, but haven't read one that addresses the true measure of performance - coil temperature. And therefore temp coeff and specific heat capacity.

I've got a 2.4kW heater that takes 10mins to heat the bathroom by 1 degree.

The newest devices allow you to create a regulated power curve during firing (eg 15w for 2s, then 8w until you release) - this is the correct approach and I hope other chip makers follow suit.

Performance is a few things - how hot it needs to get, how fast it gets there, and how well it maintains it while you suck down on it which cools it down - this is the key factor.

So I'll revise what I wrote earlier - not just robustness, you want to go lower in ohms and higher is power only if you suck really hard and fast.

It's not a myth people can achieve the same clouds at much lower wattage and higher resistance - by being slow suckers and allowing the coil to really heat up.

Edit: side by side, an Olympic sucker on a 0.01 ohm coil at 100W and a long tube mech can probably suck so fast the coil doesn't heat up reasonably to produce much vapour, compared to someone with a 10s drag with a 1.0 ohm coil at 15w.

Don't like it? Don't read my posts.

i agree 100%....just because someone gets their pickle in a twist doesn't mean someone else can't express an honest opinion. i also agree with the analogy of 'mines bigger". it has little or nothing to do with stopping smoking which i thought was the whole point. oh well.

I suggest you re read the rules on this site. Stop with the sexist comments or I will report your harassment.

Oh, come on, man. Sexist?

Do you realize the amount of sexism a woman faces on a daily basis?

Reporting a female member for sexist harrasement based on exactly two posts?

I suggest you get over yourself, buddy.

Take a good hard look at these genius's mugshots... Can you see the bumble bees buzzing in the empty space between their ears?

I know, personally, the first guy in the pictures you posted. He has a speech impediment, yes. He is quite smart and knows his power law and Ohm's law forwards and backwards and can give you a detailed, with numbers, description of the electrical quantities and air flow parameters of every one of his builds.

I take offense at your classification of him and expect an apology to him to be witnessed by everyone here.

Okay.

Didn't notice. Don't care.

Whooopdeedoo.

I take offense at your classification of him and expect an apology to him to be witnessed by everyone here.

Prepare to be disappointed:

Listen, I am not sorry. Plain and simple.

If someone posts videos of himself surfing on top of a car at 100mph, I'd have the same sort of comment to make if for some reason it invaded a forum or social network where I converse in. You are misinterpreting the critique, he could look like Brad Pitt for all I care.

He's posting videos online of an idiotic and dangerous activity, that will no doubt be copied by newbies who don't understand the danger. (vape blast explosion) By doing so he's opened up and earned his right to receive whatever backlash comes as a result.

Why does someone post videos of themselves on youtube blowing clouds in their bedroom? To get attention. My congrats to your friend, he got my attention. Not sorry it's negative.

You dig?
