ohhh boy.... you are in for a treat :) I had mild confusion for a few days... head seemed all foggy, thoughts wernt sharp and clear. Started to cough up yuck after a couple of weeks, I broke out in a rash on my back ( but that could have been the medication I was on too and working in the sun... they forgot to put the warning label on the bottle about staying out of the sun while on that med)... a bit of angst may show up become a bit edgy... oh and the dreams, very vivid and weird.... when you can sleep. but then again I was doing 2-3 PAD of ciggies when I started vaping...

I am going through it too........... I dont know how others have been able to quit smoking just like that. I have been trying for a year. I mix my own and buy juice - 18 mg. Used to smoking 2 packs a day.... I dont seem to get enough nicotine in my system to feel satisified so i pick up a cig. In re to your question - I think that the reaction you and I are having is that we are addicted not just to nicotine, but the other 5000 chemicals in it........ I feel stressed, distressed, chest bothers me, and just fiending for a cigarette. sucks.

Fotogirl, those people that have smoked three packs of Camel straights for 50 years and then pick up a cigalike and “accidentally” quit using 6mg juice really are annoying. Okay I kid to a degree but it is far easier for some people to quit than it is for others. I had a miserable, miserable time quitting. I smoked and vaped for nearly five months. Finally went up to 24mg to get over that “hump,” then dropped back down to 16/18mg with no problem. If nothing else, try having some stronger juice around for when those urges for a cigarette hit. It isn’t a contest isn’t about who quits the fastest or who has the fewest oopsies, it’s all about getting off cigarettes for good (for most of us). There are literally thousands of people here willing to help you on your journey. Sounds like you are off to a good start, hang in there.

I've only actually vaped 6mg juices (9mg occasionally) and my first two weeks was pure hell. I was a pack a day smoker for almost 20 years, btw.

Well, 105 days later I have yet to revert to smoking cigarettes (nor do I have the urge anymore) so all I can say is hang in there, it definitely gets better.

It gets better. Just keep vaping! And you might want to buy some WTA e-juice as well.
I stopped with 18 mg. it only took me about 10 hours at work with Cinnamon Red Hot flavor & Ripe Banana juices. I vaped all day at work and by the time I smoked 2 that night I thought it was the grossest thing I've ever done. Haven't had one since! I smoked 2-3 PAD for 30 years and never planned to quit! Now I'm down to 6mg.
I've been smoke free for over a year, if you just keep vaping, you can do it!

I know the feeling. I've been smoke free for 3 weeks now and had a craving yesterday for a cig. I just loaded 24mg into the vape and it a few more times and it seemed to help. Keeping a couple different mg's of juice around has helped tremendously, especially one with tobacco taste. Keep it up and you'll do fine. I smoked 1 1/2 pk a day for 23 years and am determined to quit this time around.

KLM Howdy and Welcome, Flamingo's link by bghouse, list is all inclusive, give it a read.

I got to do this one in two stages...I'd started rolling my own about a year ago with "all organic" tobacco, so basically it didn't have all those chemicals that are added to ciggies to make them more addictive, the formaldehyde, etc and 24 hours in a Sunday afternoon I was irritable, (I'm pretty even keeled unless I need to eat and it's been 8 hours or more) headache, GI issues, body aches, general malaise and creepy crawly I don't feel good in my own skin feeling.

OMG this is withdrawl! seen it plenty of times, and kind of was mad at cigarette companies...but I took to the bed for the rest of the Sunday and felt a tad better in the morning with some good food and hydration and Alieve. It took a few days but it cleared out within 3 to 4 and back to smoking ciggies. I had a little bit of one when we started vaping May 30 but really nothing like the first time, quitting the store bought ciggies.

This too shall pass.

Vaping has some side effects for some folks, there's fluid shifts, be aware of your hydration and read that list Flamingo reposted of bghouse's.

good luck and Congrats on quitting!!!

I thought I needed a cigarette with coffee and one after every meal. I allowed myself those few after quitting a 2 PAD habit. I hung on to those for a couple more years while vaping and really didn't need them. They were my crutch. One day, I decided to drop them. I started vaping and smoking alternately and comparing the difference. What I discovered was how nasty the cigarette tasted and how good the vape was. I decided that it was crazy to keep smoking 6 a day, so I quit. There were no withdrawal symptoms after titrating down from 40 something a day to 6 and once I quit the 6, it was a non-event.

If you can keep vaping and not smoking that's good. If you happen to slip, just start over and limit the number you smoke. It's easier to quit a few than to quit many. I thought I'd never get satisfaction from vaping for coffee time and after meal time. It wasn't long before it seemed right to vape and even more right NOT to smoke. It's as much a mental process as a physical addiction, especially once you get rid of most of the cigs and limit your tobacco chemical intake.

Everyone's different.
I made the switch over four days. I'm still amazed that I did it so quickly. I will admit that as I often get vapers tongue, it becomes frustrating at times - and that's when I start snacking and think about cigarettes - but lucky for me, I'm not around any smokers, and it would not be a simple matter of bumming one.
200 days later, I am no longer a smoker.
I think that for me, it was so much better than a cold-turkey quit (which I tried five years ago), that it felt easy by comparison.

The good thing about ecigs is that YOU control the nic levels in your vape. If you aren't getting satisfaction from whatever strength you are vaping, try some 24mg juice. You can taper down to 18mg, then 12mg, and downward as you begin to lose the cravings. Keep some 24mg on hand for those days when you feel you need it.

When the urge to smoke hits, vape heavily for a while and wait a few minutes. The desire will pass.
