I have been without an cigarette for almost 9 days and I have been surprisingly good. The only thing I have going is dryness in the mouth and throat.

I have two cigarettes in my car, had them there for 9 days just in case I needed to break the glass in an emergency but today I was thinking that I should throw them out.

Personally, my experience has been more like drummerskey's. I've been cigarette free for 1 wk today & I'm doing really well. However, my husband, who attempted to start quitting about the same time hasn't had as easy of a time. I know he has had at least a couple of cigs a day still, but at least he is cutting back.

If you are still having withdrawals, maybe you need to look at the set up you are using or maybe the juice or prefilled cartomizer you are using does not have strong enough nicotine mg in it? My husband & I tried vaping about 2 yrs ago & failed miserably. We didn't like the prefilled cartomizers as they didn't seem to put out enough vapor. This time around we are using tanks & are MUCH happier. Plus, I don't think that we chose a high enough mg of nicotine either. Hope the cravings start to wind down soon! I know that can be awful! Maybe try to distract yourself....do you have a hobby?

Ah yes......I did some reading before I bought anything and went with the 18mg first and quickly ordered 24mg right after that. My wife had a 16mg from a grocery store but it was 808 and fit my Volt. So I vape the 24mg during the day and try to go lower after 6p. I mentioned this earlier on another post but I am nowhere close to 3-5ml a day. My cartos hold 1ml and I have only had one of those on average a day.

Funny side story. I have a pretty good sense of smell, even as a smoker but today; it seemed to come back in hyper-drive along with some of my tates buds. We went to Outback to eat and the sandwich tasted burnt and when we went out to the car, I smelled the exhaust of the grill - it smelled like my sandwich tasted and it was over-powering.

24mg kills the craving unless you are still mentally addicted to the idea of smoking. Vape heavily when you have the urge for a cig. If it goes away, it's just the need for nic. If not, then you still miss the idea of lighting up. That will go away if you resist it.

I quit one time on a bet and succeeded for over 2 years. I never lost the mental urge to have a cig in my hand, especially after meals. One day under stress I bought a pack. I smoked one and got a nic buzz that led to another one that made me green around the gills and dizzy. I stuffed them in a drawer. A couple of days later, I tried another one, then another, and pretty soon, I was buying another pack.

If there were ecigs back then, I could have avoided several more decades of smoking and would probably be much better physically than I am today, although I'm riding 4 miles a day on an exercise bike at above average resistance and doing 60 reps on a curl bar daily using 40 pounds. If I keep it up, I might get back to the 60# and 90# I used to use for arm work. Life is good without tobacco!

LMAO! Makes you wonder what you have been missing all this time? My husband & I went on a long drive this weekend up this hwy that has beautiful scenery and he said to me "It smells wonderful up here. I GUESS I might be able to smell it better, because I've been smoking less."

Sounds to me you need to up your nic. What mg are you using?
I had to use 24 mg when I first started vaping.
Anything lower and I would feel like it wasn't going to work.
That was 9 months ago. I didn't give in once.
Just vaped more until my craving went away.

The first time around when I was doing the pre-filled cartridges, we were totally lost & didn't know what to get. I think we ended up ordering 11mg, but that didn't work. So, then I put in an order for 18mg & we still weren't completely successful. Did pretty well for a couple weeks, but still ended up going back to analogs. This time around with the tanks, I went for the big guns & ordered 36mg & my husband decided to go with the 24mg....I'm thinking he should've went for 36mg too since he is having a harder time than I am. I do agree though, I just keep vaping until the craving is gone.

The smell was the biggest thing for me... Ive actually snacked less because i can get my sweetneeds craving out of my vaping I love the sweet ones it seems so I got a bonus there ... being able to ride my bike 10 miles without dying is getting nicer and nicer....

just vape the cravings away has worked brilliantly for me I worry i got too strong of nic for me to begin with so I'm going to try 12's this next week hoping i don't have to amp it back up

I don't know about anyone else, but I remember my first week to week and a half after my last analogue I felt like there was something missing. I wasn't craving nicotine, but vaping wasn't 100% as satisfying. My guess is that one of the other hoards of chemicals in cigarettes is also mildly addictive, as I was never tempted to smoke a regular cigarette, I just wanted something that I wasn't getting from vaping. After that initial bit, it went away and I've been absolutely content to just vape, haven't had so much as a hint of an urge to go back to regular cigarettes (and even hate the smell more than ever). I started recommending that people start vaping with 24mg juice, simply because that way they play it safe. If it's too strong, then they can just vape less frequently, but chances are they won't have issues with it being unable to keep them from craving nicotine or cigarettes after vaping. Once you've done it for a week or two, then you can kind of get an idea as to what strength you need, based on how much you needed to vape on 24mg to satisfy your nicotine cravings and go from there.

I can totally see that. Every other time I have quit, I was doing it because a doctor told me I needed to or because I felt like someone else was forcing me somehow. Today has been a week since I had my last analogue & I feel different this time around. I've had some cravings, but I've been able to stop them with the e-cig. I really think I am done with analogue's this time around. My husband says that quitting smoking is like breaking up with a girlfriend you really like, so I have a feeling, he is going to have a tougher time at this cuz I don't think he is ready to give it up yet.

Interesting....I've never thought of it like that. This is my second go at e-cigs. My first time wasn't so successful. I did try a few different sweet or weird flavors (non-traditional cigarette flavors) the first time & I feel they did not help me get off the analogues, so in the beginning, I felt it was best for me to have something the closely resembled the taste of my Marlboro Smooths. So, this time around, I picked all minty flavors.

It could be. Like I said above, this is my 2nd go around at this. I didn't feel satisfied the first time & I think there are a couple factors that attributed to that. 1) I don't think the nicotine dosage was high enough & 2) I REALLY missed the throat hit I got from analogues. I wasn't getting that from the e-cigs I had the first time. This time, I have tanks, which definitely help that & I don't really feel like I am missing anything now. My husband & brother in law were even smoking analogues in front of me (which is something that would've made me break down & have one any other time I've tried to quit) the other day & I just happily vaped away.

I am back to using a PV after a year hiatus. I am having a hard time with vaping and still have a few analogs like your husband. I tried increasing my nic levels but that just made me nervous, increased heart rate.. (nic overdose?). From my reading, there are people who get addicted to other substances in cigarettes besides the nicotine. I read about using Snus in reference to withdrawal symptoms and decided to try it this weekend. I wish I could find the article again. I could be mistaken though... would not be the first time I was wrong. I know it is in the forum. If I find it, I will post the link. Good luck to both of you!
