Sorry for the necro on this thread, but I'm thinking about getting one of these bad boys. Now, I'm still fairly new to vaping, and I haven't had anything other than the eGo style batteries. I'm currently using a Vision Spinner II 1600mAh clone and I want to take the next step, because I'm just feeling underwhelmed with the performance of my current setup. I'm not interested in temperature control or anything like that, I don't sub ohm, I just want something that I can use that will be decent for me, and that I can maybe use while learning how to build coils on an RDA/RBA. Do you think this device would be suitable for a dunce like me? Also, I think I saw someone mentioning that you have to use nickel for the temp control to work, but that doesn't mean you can only use nickel, right?

Hi Raptor

Nickel is just for using Temp Control. You can use Kanthal with this mod. Since you are going up to the next level, my suggestion to you is maybe to pass on this device as it is geared mainly for sub-ohms because of it's power. I would say that a MVP3 would better suit you at this time in your journey. I used the MVP2 as my next step after using an ego. It well give you plenty of power for your clearo's as well as powering anything that you build since your not sub-ohming. It also has a large battery which will most likely give you 2 days of vaping before having to recharge it.

With that said I'm not knocking the X-Pro M80 as I have been using mine almost daily for over the past month and I have not had any problems with it at all. It is perfect for all my sub-ohm builds supplying both the power and battery life I need. I also purchased this to see what all the fuss was about Temp Control with out having to spend $300 on a DNA40 device. The TC on this is not the best but it has given me a good vape and because of it I'm ready to take the plunge on a DNA40 device.

Just my opinion and Good Luck to you in your Vaping Journey!!

Nice. Enjoy it!

Thanks! I'm sure I will. I went ahead and got a Plume Veil clone to practice building on, as well as 200ft. of Kanthal, 45 sheets of Japanese cotton, an ohmmeter, clippers, and a coil jig. Now it's time to start learning how to do things, then do them!

You will be opening up a whole new world for yourself. Vaping has since become not only my way of getting off of cigs, but now a great hobby. I started vaping 19 months ago from a 2 pack a day habit. I went from an ego to making my own mods and my own e-juice. It is truly a journey that grows daily. Once again enjoy your journey and keep vaping!!

There ya go, I ain't done looked for it yet (trying my hick talk) but I wonder if Phil Busardo Has done a full review complete with a multimeter or whatever that crazy million dollar apparatus that he uses to test the high end Mods. Heck the Aspire Sub-Ohm kicks out 40amps.

The M80 even has a Mech Mode 'Mode' but Smok cannot find space to list Amperage?

It's necro time.
I have a sigelei 150 watt that I've used the past 2 months and bought a 1 day old M80 plus from someone locally for $30.

This mod is great, I don't use temp control, could honestly care less about it and use it in wattage mode all the time.

I run a troll rda with a .24 ohm dual macro coil 26g kanthal at 80 watts all day long and it hits as good as my sigelei.

The battery lasts me a whole day easy and I vape quite often. The passthrough works letting you vape while it charges. It does take quite a while to charge but I put it on before bed and it's charged in the morning every time.

The build doesn't feel cheap at all, it's a good bit smaller then my sigelei 150 watt also. I really like the device, and I am selling my sigelei 150 watt and will use this as my daily driver now.
