Reading back through all the email exchanges between us is one of the most entertaining things I've done in a long time. Making a VERY long story as short as possible:
- I finally relented and agreed to return it, yet again, paying another $26 to have it done Priority, with insurance.
- On Monday, I received notice that four attempts for delivery were unsuccessful. I immediately reached out to them.
- Tuesday morning I received a message from them, saying they would go to the local post office and "look for (my) parcel."
- No further communication ensued.
- My name was obviously on the package. I thought, "How can I get them to accept delivery?"
- Late yesterday, I sent the following: "I'm almost hoping it gets lost in the mail. That way I can collect the insurance money."
- This morning, the package was accepted.
Whatever respect I once had for these people is LONG gone. I have no expectations that whatever they send back to me will ever work properly, and I'm fairly confident that I threw $250 down a drain.
That one mod has now traveled:
- Westbound trans-oceanic, Israel to CT.
- Westbound transcontinental, from CT to CA.
- Eastbound transcontinental, from CA to CT.
- Eastbound trans-oceanic, CT to Israel.
- Westbound trans-oceanic, Israel to CT.
- Eastbound trans-oceanic, CT to Israel.
With one more pending trans-oceanic flight, that will make FIVE trans-oceanic (6,000 mi each) plus TWO trans-continental (3,000 mi each).
My abacus just broke trying to add it all up.
But the absolute funniest part are the communications between us. I'm not comfortable sharing those. At least not at this point.
In the process, I had to admit to Kat that the sticky button mod was never properly fixed (I sent her the other one). I also brought her up to speed with the history.
The email she sent last them night was absolutely scathing. I'm out of energy, but she's pretty angry (understatement of the year). I promised her that I would not share the email without her blessing. So even though I really WANT to, I'm refraining from doing so.
It was standing-ovation good, and laugh-out-loud funny. Pretty much exactly what one might expect from her, for any of you who know her.
It was good.
Moving on. They received Kat's email last night, and my package five hours ago. As of this moment, no replies to either (at least not that I've seen).
So, to anyone who is considering sending their money to Mini, think about it. GREAT mod, great risk.
If I had to do it again, I'd wait. In other six months, the market will be flooded with similar options. It's already in play (almost exactly as the Little Itty Bitty Mods were last year). A little patience may pay dividends.
But if you're one who LIKES taking chances, well, you've found a great option in Mini.
