It's not precisely like the authie, pokes, but it is seriously fine for a less expensive option. If you don't have an authie, there'll be nothing to compare it to anyway!

It's fine for the price.

100% in agreement. Perfectly stated, perfectly represented. It's quite nice for the price, and a lot sturdier than some other things I've had in that range.

That Curve thingie comes to mind. ;)

LOL! Be quiet, Longo!

The mod was fine. YOU put the batt in...... oh never mind! :D

(someone will love that device, just like they loved the Smelly!)

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Yes, I DID put the battery in upside down. Yes I did!

And I was going to mention Smelly Welly too!

And, tho I have not done so, I'm VERY tempted to send that video to Mini.

@Marc411, let us know what you decide to do? I hope it works out for you..... really I do!

I'll keep everyone up to speed, they may have gotten caught up. I really wanted one with SS and VA didn't have them in stock. VA has been my preferred vendor for several of my devices.

I did reach out for them by e-mail prior to making the purchase and they said that we plan the shipment in 2-2.5 weeks if no unexpected difficulties appear.

I asked them directly what the lead time was prior to checkout. I guess we will see ;)

I really want an authentic, but I think I'll wait a bit. If I get one, I'll look on the classies or go to VA. As I said before, I'm not as patient or good natured as you and Longo.

The clown will let me know if the form factor is something I like.

I can nearly GUARANTEE you'll love the form factor, pokemom. I know your taste in devices!

And where in the world did you get the idea that I'm good natured??

He is. Me, not so much. ;)

drugarth, it's just the same continuing saga we've had with Mini since the beginning. Thank you for the concern. :)

I do hope my email to them today may have an effect, and if so, perhaps things will get better with their future customers.

ooh DPLongo, don't tell me you've hit another problem with the device :( It can't be!
She speaks the truth. I had hoped to keep it manageable between Mini and me, but as fate would have it, NOTHING has gone well between us.

The sticky button mod was returned to me with... You guessed it, STICKY BUTTONS.

I'm actually laughing right now. It's ... comical.

I advised them immediately (same day). They offered to fix it again.

Truly.

They really did.

I can't even type any more than this. I'm laughing & crying at the same time.

I'll complete the story later.

wow....that's just harsh :grr: :( It seems nothing is spared you and Kat regarding these devices, very sorry to hear that. Unbelievable that they want you to go through all that again, especially when the first time around they didn't properly fix it.
Wake up Chels!...you need to up your QC and CS...with these clones out there it is the thing that can make a difference!

Reading back through all the email exchanges between us is one of the most entertaining things I've done in a long time. Making a VERY long story as short as possible:

  • I finally relented and agreed to return it, yet again, paying another $26 to have it done Priority, with insurance.
  • On Monday, I received notice that four attempts for delivery were unsuccessful. I immediately reached out to them.
  • Tuesday morning I received a message from them, saying they would go to the local post office and "look for (my) parcel."
  • No further communication ensued.
  • My name was obviously on the package. I thought, "How can I get them to accept delivery?"
  • Late yesterday, I sent the following: "I'm almost hoping it gets lost in the mail. That way I can collect the insurance money."
  • This morning, the package was accepted.
Whatever respect I once had for these people is LONG gone. I have no expectations that whatever they send back to me will ever work properly, and I'm fairly confident that I threw $250 down a drain.

That one mod has now traveled:

  1. Westbound trans-oceanic, Israel to CT.
  2. Westbound transcontinental, from CT to CA.
  3. Eastbound transcontinental, from CA to CT.
  4. Eastbound trans-oceanic, CT to Israel.
  5. Westbound trans-oceanic, Israel to CT.
  6. Eastbound trans-oceanic, CT to Israel.
With one more pending trans-oceanic flight, that will make FIVE trans-oceanic (6,000 mi each) plus TWO trans-continental (3,000 mi each).

My abacus just broke trying to add it all up. ;)

But the absolute funniest part are the communications between us. I'm not comfortable sharing those. At least not at this point.

In the process, I had to admit to Kat that the sticky button mod was never properly fixed (I sent her the other one). I also brought her up to speed with the history.

The email she sent last them night was absolutely scathing. I'm out of energy, but she's pretty angry (understatement of the year). I promised her that I would not share the email without her blessing. So even though I really WANT to, I'm refraining from doing so.

It was standing-ovation good, and laugh-out-loud funny. Pretty much exactly what one might expect from her, for any of you who know her.

It was good.

Moving on. They received Kat's email last night, and my package five hours ago. As of this moment, no replies to either (at least not that I've seen).

So, to anyone who is considering sending their money to Mini, think about it. GREAT mod, great risk.

If I had to do it again, I'd wait. In other six months, the market will be flooded with similar options. It's already in play (almost exactly as the Little Itty Bitty Mods were last year). A little patience may pay dividends.

But if you're one who LIKES taking chances, well, you've found a great option in Mini.

Thanks, Dru. But truly no worries. I actually wish this was my biggest challenge in life. I'm not rich by any means, but I'll still be able to afford groceries. Lesson learned.

CONGRATULATIONS, Vakaion!!! No worries about me - it's already concluded (in my mind).

Feel free to post a pic of the Dani. I'd love to see it. :)
