Weeds was great, esp the first 2 seasons. The soundtracks are as good - same with the Sopranos. Awesome soundtrack. That's usually how I discover shows. I haven't watched Soprano's either, but I'm going to have to. Cowboy BeBop was another one I discovered through the soundtrack first. Lilyhammer is an extension of the Soprano's I guess. One of the NY mob bosses (from Soprano's) gets into the witness protection program and is sent to a little town in Norway, of all places. My inlaws are off the boat norweigen. Norway is generally socially conservative, painfully polite and socialist. Not ready for the mob or that type of "capitalism". The culture clash is funny. The show is never going to get press in the US.
I don't like shows where people are killed like flies. That approach is bugging me more and more. Another thing that bugs me is depicting women as victims. Who in the _ _ _ _ is going to stand in the corner and cutely scream with their SO in a fight for their life with an attacker rather than grab a vase, knife, hammer and defending themselves? That is stupid. One thing we learned was that if there was an emergency to look for mothers. They have survival instincts (kids) and don't go into negative panic (the worst). CEO types go into negative panic (catatonic) because they want to "figure it out" and end up doing nothing. That's a very broad generalization but it is backed by stats enough to be in training. Hollywood is so on another planet with women.
And if you haven't figured it out yet, the eggnog was fine tonight.
