Good morning!

I'm embarrassed to admit that I remember disco.

I'll start the morning fun with the era's poster-child picture :laugh::laugh::laugh: ...

He was so good in the movie! Amazing dancer, turned out to be a decent actor too.
One of the nice guys from what I have seen. Funny, they didn't pick the best songs for that movie, there were far better out there.

Brick House is my absolute all time favorite disco song!!

Jman shudders.

I have a tough time calling funk music disco, but that's probably cause I love funk music so much. I like disco (certainly not a hater), but funk seemingly does whatever disco is trying to do, at another level.

Though I realize the majority feels otherwise. And with that being the case, here would be one of my favorites for (ahem) disco:

I love funk and yes it counts! I consider it all rolled into the same category, you can dance to it! I consider today's techno stuff "disco" they can call it whatever they want its the same thing. Oh, they use computerized music, so what. you can dance to it. LOL

Those were definitely NOT fun times, most mothers who have raised a teenage daughter can attest to that, mine was VERY challenging. :) The combination of a very headstrong problem teen and the onset of chronic panic disorder was definitely not fun.

Than you missed one of the best times ever!!! It was so much fun!

I also remember the clubs were filled with a variety of illegal substances in the backrooms and many were open long after last call.

Ahhhhhhh now I know why I do not remember the disco era clearly, I had a teenage daughter at that time, I was too busy trying to live through it to remember it.

I was raising teenagers through the 80s, 90s and half of the 2000s. I spent most of their musical years telling them to "turn that crap down!", but now I often listen to that very same music myself. I guess the constant exposure to it made it grow on me...now I like it!

Same here Thaya, I think it has more to do with being in "mom" mode than the music itself, our brains go into a strange place while we are raising kids. After they are grown we relax a bit and go back to being who we were before kids, at least I know I did. I love most music, especially rock, country, classical, and jazz, but when my brother who was living with us went through his punk and heavy metal phase I spent most of my time telling him to turn that crap down. We also had a rule about his attire, if he wanted to dress like that when he was with his friends that was his business, as long as he paid for the clothes, if he was going out somewhere with us he would dress like a human. I never did learn to care for the punk stuff, there just has to be some musical quality somewhere and not just off key screaming.
My brother is my only sibling, and he is my daughter's age so more like a son than a brother.

Boy you are a young one, I became a grandmother in the 80's. :)
After my husband died in 96 I reverted to rock music, he always listened to country, and discovered the music of the 80's, it is some of my favorite now.

I was a teenager in the 80s. :2cool: Can we do an 80s or 90s day sometime?

I raised an extremely headstrong teenage daughter and 6 teenage sons. With 2 sets of twin boys, I did teenagers simultaneously. With the first bunch I had 4 teenagers at the same time, then I had 3 teenagers at once after that. My 2 oldest were VERY problematic kids, and to say that raising all of them was challenging is a huge understatement! Looking at the bright side......we all survived! ;)

Yep we survived as well, not sure any of us are completely intact mentally though. LOL

Cluadia, I am pointing out that the disco era was amazingly fun, not that your experience with your daughter was or was not fun. And that your chronic panic disorder was fun. I am sure it was not fun. I love you and if you missed it that is sad, it was great. My mother loved it!

To everyone
The point of what I am doing is to bring up or little group, we have been down for far too long. It does not mean our problems go away, it's not like I had a miracle and all is great in my life, it just is meant to lighten the mood, I am hoping everyone gets involved just a bit and has fun.
If it isn't for you go ahead and ignore, nobody will be mad at you.

If anyone is offended, I am sorry, Many are letting me know they are enjoying this
