I don't know who any of the ppl are anymore. If I don't run across them online, then I figure "they" don't want me to know who they are or possibly pay for some of their stuff. I looked at the top Billboard and recognized 3 out of a 100? LOL! I'm in several groups screening the latest stuff and the Billboard stuff is just never on it. I'd be ticked if I actually paid for most of the movies put out. There were a handful of good ones, but I think the last GREAT one was Avatar. Most I didn't care if they were on a 13" screen or not.

What really soured me is when they ended over the air tv. That's the nail in the coffin. I think the best thing that could happen is for RIAA and MPA to die. Everything the FDA is doing to ecig's is taken straight from their playbook. The DOJ is all RIAA/MPA lawyers. Falsified studies, reports, legislating market control, dirty tricks, lies, you name it. There's good talent outside of the status quo.

I wish I had more time to hunt. I wonder if Red Skelton's skits are online. Some of the .... VanDyke stuff is good too. I also saw a Betty White parody of Wrecking Ball. I'm sure if I went over to You Tube I wouldn't come back out for hours with stuff and I just can't do that right now. One of my favorites are the old Fractured Fairy Tales from Rocky and Bullwinkle. There's also a Judy Holliday card playing scene from a Marx Bro's movie that could put tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. Any and all the Marx bro's are good. But Gilda Radner and Andy Kaufman left big voids in their wake. George Carlin too. And I loved Monty Python. esp Cleese in Fawlty Towers doing the big step routine. I don't dare get started on those.

I was told to make sure no dust in vents, keep keyboard clean. clean screen I don't open the computer to clean just the outside. I have seen people clean inside too. I wouldn't because if you don't know what you are doing you could dislodge something

Well, my computer hadn't been cleaned in 8 years so I think it thought dust was part of it.

Dang, you guys are always chattiest when I'm at work. I always miss all the fun. :(

Gotta get up early and take the Boy to the DA's office for a hearing to determine whether a juvenile petition should be filed. Whatever that means. Wish us luck.

Good luck with that. I hope it goes well for him (and you). I hope it is a misdemeanor that will end up dismissed.

Karen & Others:

Thank you for the words of encouragement & the well wishes for mine, DH's, & my family's health, & the holiday wishes too. I'm one of those who would much rather give gifts than rec' them. For some odd reason, it feels odd rec'g gifts on holidays & even my birthday; hwr, I prefer to give gifts, esp for the kids, grandkids, & those special teachers who went into teaching b/c it was a calling as well as a natural gift they possessed, which made them popular among the students. Kids can especially sus out teachers who are there for the payday vs those who have a natural calling & answered that call to be a teacher as it's something they're good at doing. Those kinds of teachers make the best ones since they can make even the most boring of subjects interesting & fun. Before our life was turned inside out, upside down, & shattered into a million pieces, these were the teachers I especially enjoyed shopping for each year at Christmas & again for the end-of-year parties. Christmas gifts didn't have anything apple-related; chances are, teachers have more than enough apple stuff already. It's why I hit the Outlet Store for Bath & Body Works where I pick up a couple of baskets then begin to fill them with candles, hand & body lotions, lavender bath oils, pillow spray in lavender, shower gel in a citrus or eucalyptus scents, pocket & full-size hand-sanitizer bottles, etc... There is a Paper Factory Outlet near where I live so I'd either bring my own woven/wooden baskets with a handle or buy some at a shop near those within the same compound, for lack of a better term as it's much larger & curves around unlike a strip mall does. The ladies there pick out matching crepe paper, holiday clear yet sturdy plastic, & a bow then put it all together while using the clear holiday plastic wrapping to go around the entire basket & these are nice sized baskets - not too big, not too small - & they use ribbon around the handle of the basket then around the bottom where the handle actually meets the basket part so when the bow that's attached around the top of the handle will hang down beautiful when the plastic wrapping comes off. I've actually made a few manly ones too. LOL! I hoped I could do the same for my oldest daughter as I did our oldest child but we have had a tight income since she left home & got a place of her own but I was able to get her a nice Asian Oriental style vase with Lucky Bamboo & Lucky Jade Stone attached to it in the red string-like holder it sits on. It was a nice Housewarming Gift.

It got to the point when I was actually working and married, before the retinal eye disease and the autoimmune diseases that when I was supposed to be shopping for me, DH would volunteer (tho they worked it out ahead of time - the volunteering mom part) his mom to go with me so I'd actually buy me clothes so I had something special to wear along with something I was able to wear around the house that it didn't matter if it had pottery or charcoal or paints on it. He did this so I wouldn't pick up things for the kids rather than myself. LOL! (Or even for him as I was known for picking up a tool I know he didn't have but wanted)...

I didn't make it through the holidays without an infection coming back on me but there's always next year. That darn toenail that's ingrown and was infected on one side is better on the side that was infected early Dec but now the other side that's ingrown is infected now. I just spent the last 30 minutes clearing as much of the infection out as possible, dosing it with peroxide, clearing it again, which brought more to the surface, then dosed it peroxide again before adding the antibiotic ointment, sterile dressing, & surgical tape to my toe & the whole toe hurts now. This is becoming a habit I'm ready to break! Probably loses something in the joke department when typing vs talking. LOL!

There are far too many wonderful people to list but please know how much your kind words and responses truly meant & how it did lift my spirits to the point where I didn't feel quite as bad as I did before. This has just been such a long ride, esp with DH's disability claim. We actually had Binder & Binder handling it but the idiotic judge was too busy listening and taking advice from a cardiology academic who probably hasn't treated a patient a day in his life and who refused to take everything into consideration, mainly the fact that the heart condition affects the type I diabetes and type I diabetes affects everything else, plus it can be deadly on its own. The man from Voc Rehab understood & told the judge by all intents & purposes, my husband IS DISABLED! The judge was rather full of himself & refused to listen to him & the appeals dept was even worse b/c they were out of work due to that idiotic govt shutdown so that didn't help matters. I'm half a mind to contact one of our congress members anyhow to see if they can push it through. Our state does have 1 Democratic Congress person. It can't hurt! Wish me luck b/c I think we're going to need it.

Karen, if you find out what those sores are, please PM me. I'm afraid it's MRSA and so is my husband considering he's had it since the hospital only it's spread over time and became worse & now it's putting his health in jeopardy, more so, it's putting his legs in jeopardy and I don't want to lose my husband all because of his pride getting the best of him. I love him far too much to let that happen even if it means having him committed until he's got that idea out of his head no matter how angry he gets at me. I need him, our children need him, his family needs him, & our grandbabies (tho not all are babies anymore) need him too. They adore him, esp the grandsons; hwr, the granddaughters have him wrapped around their little pinky fingers. ;)

Thanks again for all the words of encouragement. I needed them & they helped tremendously. It doesn't feel right asking for more but I can't help but ask that everybody be safe if you go out to any New Year's Eve Parties. Please be sure to have your designated driver & if you go to a club or similar area, most will give the DD sodas, tea, mineral water, etc... on the house just for being the one who is responsible for ensuring everyone gets home safe & sound.

Happy New Year's & I hope we all have a better 2014, as we will soon put 2013, to bed.

Paise,

I am so sorry that your husband has been ill and treated to the barbaric Social Security Disability system. It seems that they just would rather we die. I won't give them the satisfaction. I hope you have a Merry Christmas anyway, I have found that while getting gifts is fun, and giving gifts is much more fun, it really comes down to having good friends and family in your life. If that was the criteria for Christmas most people would be a lot happier. I am grateful for the family I created and thrilled to have them in my life. I am even more grateful for the people I have met here on ECF. This is a great group and we all support and encourage each other.

When you get to the hearing phase please have a good lawyer. It is essential. They will help you to prepare, what records to have with you Everything should be documented.

I understand all of the pain and the stress that comes with most of the diseases and maladies you described. I have a pretty good combo of them myself. I can't see doctors so we can only guess at this point what else I will have to deal with.
By the way, I get the sores your husband has and I am very troubled by them turning into infections that my body won't fight on its own.

I have to say that you should come here and chat whenever you need an ear, we welcome everyone with open arms.
You and your family will be in my prayers for a better tomorrow and always.

Karen

I saw them on The Tonight Show once and thought they were a riot. :) I was also surprised the censors allowed them on, I'll bet they had strokes when they saw it.

The group is called LMFAO and it is Barry Gordies son? I think, they were directed or produced by Will i am (SPELLING) from the Black Eyed Peas which I am a fan of.

the music is for fun and dancing, it will never be considered fine or remembered as anything more than guilty pleasure kind of stuff.

This year we have this one which I love

I love Jimmy Fallon, he is enormously talented, although I'm going to miss Leno I am at the same time anxious for Fallon to take over the Tonight show.

I used to love Red Skelton and the Bill Cosby stuff, especially his visit to the Dentist. I am finding that I am enjoying Jimmy Fallon. Did not think I would but he is pretty talented. I love his duets, especially the one he did with Paul McCartney a while back.

Paise, good to see you again! I am glad you got through the Holidays, I know how those ingrown nails can be, and in a diabetic it could spell trouble with a capital T. I worry about those things all the time.

I am a gifter, I do hate that I can't enjoy that right now, but I have such great plans in the future, I hope I get to fulfill them.

Today, I get to do errands that I need to get out of the way, pay bills and enjoy time with my nephews girlfriend. I'll see all of you later, lets continue comedy and post some funny stuff. I enjoyed yesterday!

Jimmy Fallon is my Fav, I am glad Leno is going. He never really did it for me, once in a while I found humor, but not enough.

Delores, we are not just strong women, we have many good strong men here, that sometimes we forget, supporting us as well, let's here it for them too!

see you all later!!!!!!!!!!! lot's of hugs!!!!!

99% of the time while on ECF, I choose not to post in the manner I am choosing in this post. So, everyone reading this, take this with grain of salt. Perhaps I'm just writing this for me, though I recognize it won't come off that way, entirely.

The parts I bolded are the items I wish to speak to. Cause as I type this I have eye disorder that creeped back into my life about 10 days ago, after having it occur to me for nearly a month about 3 months prior to this. And then before that 2 other times in my life. One of those times, nearly 11 years ago now, was significant enough that it changed how I look at my life and working 9 to 5. Won't go into detail on that right now as tangent is too long, but just wanting to note that the eye disorder has been one of those significant items.

Plus, I got the ingrown toe nail thing which also has been going on for about 4 years running, and when it sprout up, it certainly signaled an change in my work habits that I didn't fully realize until months later.

I am reluctant to bring these things up for many reasons, but the one I choose to share now is because I believe they occur for mental reasons and are dealt with foremost by undoing mental blocks. Or as I put it to myself (often), it is all occurring on a spiritual level and Spirit will gladly assist with healing, if I but ask. Knock and the door is open, sort of thing.

I think this applies to literally everything, every experience on this planet. For sure happens with nicotine addiction. On ECF, I've noted about 15 times my going cold turkey in my adult life from smoking, and the first time that occurred was one of my most wonderful, and significant spiritual experiences to date. The short of that is, I turned it over / surrendered the addiction to Higher Self, and yadda yadda yadda, I was nicotine free for 8.5 years. After having been a PAD smoker for about 7 years. To date, that was the easiest time I've had quitting smoking. Had no feelings of withdrawals, no nagging cravings, and no shaming of myself or regrets for ever becoming a smoker in the first place.

Writing and expressing that it's as simple as mental blocks being removed sounds, to me, airy fairy and impractical. I wish there was sound bite logic that magically worked for everyone on this, but alas, I think that is a pipe dream. Instead, my hope here, as usual is to plant a seed, a reminder. For I truly, 100% believe the Answer is within You, and not over yonder in that person / expert, that book or that forum post by that nameless face. Or is it faceless name? Anyway, I further believe that turning things over to Higher Power is how healing ultimately works. In all situations. Ever. Might not be how treatment works, and I've experienced treatment working. But healing is curing and treating is identifying plausible symptoms and addressing matters at that level. Sometimes, I find treatment is a very good approach to things. Not ideal, but nothing to ignore. I'm going to eye doctor today for treatment and is something I don't believe I'll ever suggest not to do. Higher Self (in me) ain't about to suggest otherwise as it is clear we are all in this together and when the Answer within is feeling so obscured, them the times to realize He/She has sent nothing but Angels, to help us on our path.

I will also just note that I'm pretty lame at doing and managing self treatments, like applying ointments or other superficial stuff as once you get inkling of how healing actually works, it is hard to go through the motions of the superficial stuff. It's also hard to read about other people's stuff (online) or be around others (in person) and witness to their physical ailments knowing a) the Answer / Healing is within them and b) when they aren't fully aware of this, the Answer in Me can help bring Healing to them. For me personally, that's the part that sucks most, at times. Cause, I've done the faith healing thing with others. Don't care to brag about it much cause again, I realize, rather acutely, that when I'm in faith healing mode, it ain't (little) me that is doing anything. Spirit is doing all the work and person on other end is either receptive (desiring healing) or blocking (sloughing it off as hogwash that is impractical and has no chance of working in their case. IOW mind is made up).

Instead we, includes me (perhaps is mostly me), plays this seemingly endless game that one day soon I'll find the answer to what ails me outside of me with the right expert, or right message and then, stand back, things are going to be good for me on that day. Boy oh boy will that be a great day! Heck, just thinking about it, and just knowing that I'm searching for that, seem good enough for now. Let the search continue and heck, make it endless, cause I kinda like playing the victim card when it suits me and when it doesn't, oh well same stuff different day.

And as harsh and blunt as that previous paragraph may be, I do realize, in my brighter moments that even then, even in all those moments that I'm looking outside for the miracle cure, I really am still inside Me searching, but projecting all of it as outside of me, and making up, as I go along, the path that in this moment (or lifetime) makes most sense for where I am right now.

And I rejoice.
Thanks for reading!

FYI:

I refuse to get Cable TV again, way too much money for "Me" and given that they send nothing through the cable that I cannot get for free other ways.

AND - Especailly Since Over the Airwaves - FREE TV - Is Still Available, even though it can be a little difficult to tune in at times (Remember "Rabbit Ear" Antennas). However, a decent HDTV is better then using a older style TV & converter box . . . AND - A really good antenna with a amplifier is a must (I'm able to get a couple of channels from another area with one.). . .

I actually get over 45 Channels, including all the local main channels and some others too (most I do not want Religious, HSN, etc.). One of the best part is those channels that provide secondary "Stuff" and other channels that show the Older TV Shows & Movies too . . . AntTv, COZI, Ion, ME TV, and This-TV. PBS has the Create Channel too . . .

As for a DVR that does not need either a subscription to a service (Tivo) and or even cable - however you will need an HDTV Antenna - one of the best ones is made by Magnavox and comes in different sizes (320 GB, 500 GB, 1TG hard disk drives): Check out this forum that talks all about them and others:

There is also this excellent thread about the Magnovox:

It is VERY INFORMATIVE and Good even has better instructions then the manual offers, including "how to's" and how to avoid problems ! ! !

AND - While they also provide links to where "You" can purchase these too - Amazingly "Wally World" has them at fairly reasonable price - it is where "My" friends got mine (2 Christmas ago) which was the 500GB when it was on sale for only $238.00 (and being sold for the same price today. Here is a link to them at "Wally World" (I'm waiting for the price to go down for the 1TB to try and get another):

Hope this information is helpful to those who might be interested . . . :D

What's funny (to me) is I was only going to respond to this post and then move along my merry way. But did my other post instead, as it seemed to fit within real reason for this thread, and then I forgot all about this one.

I came pretty darn close to getting "media streaming player" for Cmas but pulled out at last minute. All reviews I see online for these devices say this is a cable TV killer. Pay about $100 once for this device and you really don't need cable again. Yet here are the caveats that I'm aware of:
1 - you still have to subscribe to channels. Some of those require monthly payments, many are free. All the great ones seem to charge monthly subscriptions, but great is eye of the beholder, n'est pa?
2 - you would need another DVR type device if you wish to record stuff, as desired.
3 - live programming is not so possible. I watch TV often for sports, and while MLB has a paid subscribed channel, it isn't currently a guarantee that I would get all games from my home team through this. Plus there are umpteen other sports I care to watch, and so for me this was the deal breaker.

I do think this is where things are going and every insider knows this. You (consumer) buys device that gives you access to subscription channels, then you pay for the channels you want (or package of channels) and no longer need the middle person of big cable to do the stuff they do. Which I think isn't all bad, nor greedy, but is just bad and greedy enough to have people pushing hard on the streaming media player front to potentially take all cable providers down a good 5 to 10 notches.

How soon this all happens? I don't know. I'm still amazed my radio that I listen to in my car doesn't have a simple rewind button on it. I can rewind live TV, but not live radio?

Some day it'll all make sense.

Alright well that went better than I expected. The DA was a very kind man an accepted my son into a program where as long as he complies with the terms of the contract, he can stay out of court and not have a record of the offence. Basically he is on probation for a year and has to go to a scared straight type program and some counseling session. And, of course improve his grades and stay out of trouble. He also gave him a book to read and write a report on. I'm very thankful that we were given this opportunity, and hope my son realizes how fortunate he is.

I love you for that! And now commences the savings, convincing him he'll live once I cut the umbilical cord to cable and a subscription to Hulu plus and Netflix= awesome
